Rosa refused to believe Skylar’s words.

If Skylar dared to entangle herself with Ned again, she would make sure Skylar faced the consequences.

After packing her suitcase, Skylar drove back home to have dinner with Janine, Steven, and the others. They had all bought gifts for her and some for Gloria as well.

The sight of the many boxes gave Skylar a bit of a headache. Tomorrow morning, Steven and Harvey would take her to the airport. So, they planned to send the boxes by courier in the morning.

After dinner with her family, Skylar went to Natalie’s café. It was still being used as a filming location, with many crew members inside. So, she sent a text to Natalie before heading to a nearby mall.

It was close to the mall’s closing time, so there weren’t many people around. After buying two sets of skincare products, she left the mall and received a reply from Natalie, saying that the filming had wrapped up.

“Skylar, come over to Avalon Residence and explain the situation with that painting! Uncle Ernest and the others think I’m just stirring up trouble. They say that a painting so valuable couldn’t possibly be cursed, and they claim you’re making things up.”

Edwin’s hurried voice came through the phone.

Hearing this, Skylar’s voice turned cold as she replied, “It doesn’t matter whether they believe it or not.”

“I don’t care, you need to come over quickly,” Edwin demanded angrily.

Then, Skylar retorted, “I haven’t dealt with that painting yet. If you trust that it is fine, I’ll

have it sent back to you and return you the money.”

Skylar heard the sound of a door opening and closing. Then Edwin continued, “You really can’t do anything to help me? I don’t want to keep having those nightmares. Besides, out of respect for my mother, you shouldn’t ignore me, right?”

“If it weren’t for Grandma wouldn’t have helped you deal with that painting in the first place,” Skylar replied.

“Out of respect for Grandma, I’ll warn you–stay as far away from those family members of yours as you can. This time, it’s just a painting. Next time, they could be after your life. Without Joe around, taking over your shares would be a breeze for them.”

With that, Skylar hung up.

There was no doubt that Ernest and the others had more than just one painting. There must be other things at play. She had a strong sense that the person behind all this would soon reveal themselves.

Just as she was lost in thought, someone bumped into her, almost causing her to drop the skincare products she was carrying.
