Chapter74 She's My Girlfriend
She's My Girlfriend
"Don't get me wrong, Pearl." Alexander retreated his hand and explained, "I know it's rude, but give me
a chance, please. I really want to express my apology. And I have so many things to talk to you! Had
you not studied abroad so suddenly, I'd have..."
"Sorry, Alexander. But I have nothing to say."
With a sullen face, Pearl interrupted Alexander. She then was about to leave,
"You went abroad as you were pregnant, right?"
Alexander's words stopped Pearl's footsteps. She clenched her fists before turning and fixing her
astonished eyes at him.
Alexander continued, "You are Dr. Wale's favourite student and you were going to get a doctorate
degree. I felt quite strange when you suddenly went abroad. However, I understood everything when I
saw your children today. It was because you were pregnant, wasn't it?"
Pearl tightly clenched her fists, but she didn't deny his statement. She then blurted, "It's none if your
business."
Knowing both Bonny and Brandon' ages and with a little investigation, anyone could discover that she
had went abroad due to her pregnancy. In fact, she hadn't meant to hide it from anyone since that
time."
"I guess they are not Alex's kids, right?" Alexander started taunting Pearl.
Pearl's face darkened and she uttered, "This has nothing to do with you as I have said. Now excuse
me..." Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.
"You don't know who their father are either, do you?"
Hearing this, Pearl stared at Alexander in surprise. Her intuition told her that something wasn't right.
Alexander seemed to have thought deeply before he said finally, "I saw it that night."
"What do you mean by that?"
"The rainy night."
Every single word of Alexander's beat heavily on Pearl's eardrums.
Step by step, Alexander approached Pearl, his handsome face seemingly a bit pale. He looked as if he
had just recalled something he felt guilty of, then he slowly said, "It wasn't my intention for not saving
you that night. I..."
Pearl took a few steps back, trying to keep calm. She lost her balance and fell backwards when her
heel bumped into the roadside curb, s
"Pearl!"
Pearl did not fall to the ground. She was steadily supported by a pair of hands placed on her waist
instead.
Pearl subconsciously turned to look at the person who was holding her. Then her mind went blank.
Richard glanced at her and then asked Alexander, "What are you trying to do?"
Alexander froze for a moment, then quickly replied, "It's nothing but a misunderstanding. She's my
junior. We were...just having a conversation."
"Really? I'm wondering what you were talking about since this lady was almost scared to fall down."
Alexander retorted, "Does it have anything to do with you? Would you mind letting her go?"
Alexander had no idea of who Richard was. He had retained his formalities at first, but when he saw
that Richard was holding Pearl without an intention of letting her go, he eventually became irritated.
Only then did Pearl realise that she was still in Richard's arms. She subconsciously tried struggling out
from his grasp, but the hands holding her tightened, preventing her from escaping.
Pearl stared at Richard in shock.
His eyes darkened as he unhappily look at Alexander, "She's my girlfriend. So this is my business of
course."
"She's your girlfriend?" Alexander's face changed at once.
Pearl's feelings were mixed by hearing this.
"Pearl, is it true? Isn't Alex your boyfriend?" Alexander had to hear it from Pearl herself.
Pearl frowned but said nothing. Richard faintly replied, "It really has nothing to do with you."
Then he grabbed Pearl's shoulder and said, "Let's go, Pearly."
The nickname "Pearly" stunned Pearl. He was the only one who would call her that. She thought she
would never hear it again after they had broken up seven years ago.
Alexander was left far behind as Richard left with Pearl. They only stopped when they reached the
backstreet. Richard retrieved his hand from Pearl's shoulder. Pearl froze for a while before she
awkwardly took a few steps away from him. "Umm, thanks for the help."
Richard then asked, "Why didn't you answer my call?"
"Your call?" Pearl took out her phone. Just then did she see there was a missed call from him. "Sorry,
my phone was muted."
It was her habit, as she was giving a lecture just now.
After a few seconds, she asked, "Why did you call me?"
Richard replied, "Did you just leave your kids alone out there? I thought you were handling some
urgent matters. I didn't expect that you're here having a chat with Alexander."
Alexander did not know Richard, but Richard knew him quite well.
It was all because Alexander had never stopped pursuing Pearl back when she was still Richard's
girlfriend.
"It's not quite what you think it is. I..." Pearl wanted to explain everything but didn't know how to tell the
whole story. She could only change the topic, "How do you know where my kids are?"
"I met them at the backstreet. Ted took them for lunch." Richard looked a little impatient.
Such a coincidence?
Pearl was taken aback yet again. Then she said, "Oh..Thank you very much."
There was a short moment of silence.
Then Pearl spoke again, "You tole Alexander that I'm your girlfriend..."
Pearl thought Richard did not have to say that as to get rid of Alexander. It was broad daylight, so
Alexander couldn't really do anything even if he wanted to.
"It's my habit to resolve problems by using the most effective methods."
Richard's answer shook Pearl to her core. She panicked a bit after she met his indifferent eyes.
She forced a smile "Oh, I see."
"What were you thinking?" Richard stood as he kept a sizeable distance from Pearl. His face looked
distant and cold.
"Didn't you really think that I would be jealous of your pursuers like I was back then?"
"That's not what I meant." Pearl denied hurriedly. "Nothing happened between Alexander and me."
"I have no interest in that." Richard was a bit annoyed, "Let's stop talking about the past things, can
we?"
Pearl was floored once again.
Wasn't he the one who mentioned the past first?
