Chapter75 This Should Be The Right Way
This Should Be The Right Way
The atmosphere between Richard and Pearl turned a bit awkward, so Pearl tried changing the topic
once again. "Are Bonny and Brandon still here in campus? I'm sorry, and I'll pick them up now."
"Ted took them for lunch. Do you know what time is it now? How could you leave the kids starving. Are
you still their mom?" Richard answered coldly.
Hearing this, Pearl didn't refute.
Richard had been acting very indifferent towards her after she returned home from abroad. Whenever
he was around, she always felt uneasy and guilty for no reason.
"Okay, let's go."
"Huh? Where?"
"I thought you were going to pick up your kids?" Richard's gaze darkened as he said, "Or you'd like to
have a chat with Alexander again? If so, how about I'll send the kids home later?"
His words made Pearl tongue-tied. She forced herself to follow him.
Richard answered a phone call on the way to the restaurant. He looked like he had just turned
something down on the phone.
After Richard hung up, Pearl said hurriedly, "If you are busy, you can just tell me where the restaurant Please check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.
is. I can go there myself. Don't worry."
"You're overthinking." Richard replied without even didn't even look at her, "I need to go to lunch
anyway."
Hearing this, Pearl pursed her lips and followed Richard behind.
Concurrently, at the dean's office of the university.
As the headmaster's assistant hung up the phone, she explained, "Mr. Zellweger won't join us here
today as he has something urgent to deal with. He's asked his assistant to handle the donation issues.
And he won't have lunch with us either."
"He's not coming?" A bewildered female voice rang out beside the headmaster. "Did he say what
urgent matter it was?"
"Mr. Zellweger didn't mention anything about that, Adriana. You can call him personally to ask about it."
Adriana was also present in the dean's office, aside from the headmaster. She was also an alumnus
from the foreign language department.
Back then, she was in the same department as Richard, despite of the fact that their majors was
different. This time she and Richard had decided to make a donation of 5 million dollars as to deliver
their gratefulness to the university.
Her original plan was to use the donation ceremony as a platform to publicly announce her
engagement with Richard. She was already his fiancé, and with the support of the university, she was
sure that he would not turn her down.
Ever since Pearl had gone abroad seven years ago, Adriana'd cooked up every way possible to get
closer to Richard. She managed to gain his trust, let him accept her gradually, and finally made herself
engage to him. However, up until today, not a single media report had ever mentioned her name. He'd
never attended any formal events with her neither.
Words went on that Richard tried to keep a low profile, which was why he refused to show his fiancée
to the public. It was a way to protect Adriana, but she didn't want this.
The more women knew her name, the earlier they could get rid of their intentions towards Richard.
She'd spent quite a lot time to come up with the idea of using this university event to make herself
known to the public. As long as she could show up with Richard together, her position as the
Zellweger's future daughter-in-law could be secured. There would be many well-known alumni at the
event, surely no one would object her.
Nonetheless, even if everything was ready, she hadn't expected Richard to be absent. Her face
immediately turned quite gloomy.
After leaving the dean's office, Adriana made a call right away. "Have you found out? Where the hell is
Richard?"
The voice on the other end of the line haltingly said, "Miss Wood, please promise me that you won't get
mad."
Adriana's instinct told her there should be something bad. She then asked, "Is he with Pearl?"
Adriana had already known that Pearl would also be at the university today, who was to deliver a
speech with Alex.
It was also the reason why she had felt uneasy to stay at home. So she came to university to see what
was going on.
Before Adriana came, she had comforted herself that Pearl and Richard wouldn't meet up with each
other, since they were from two different departments. However, her worry was understandable based
on the current situation.
"just send me the address."
As she said that, her eyes flashed with hints of jealousy.
There was a Japanese restaurant outside of the university.
Bonny was sitting cross-legged on a dining mat. The blueberry ice cream in her hand was half-finished
and spots of white cream were scattered around her tiny pinky mouth. From afar, she seemed to have
a tiny beard on her face.
Seeing Pearl and Richard, "Daddy, Mommy!" Bonny immediately greeted sweetly.
Hearing this, Ted, who sat beside, felt his heart skip a beat.
Ted knew that Bonny was innocent and young. She might haven't thought too much before calling
Richard "Daddy". But when he heard both "Daddy" and "Mommy" together, he couldn't resist peeking at
his boss and Dr. Yonng who had just entered.
Even he had to admit that this pair looked perfectly matched. The man was handsome while the lady
was gorgeous.
"Mommy," Brandon's voice not loud as his sister. Then he politely greeted, "Mr. Zellweger."
Hearing this, Ted thought, "This should be the right way, shouldn't it?"
"Have you finished your lunch?" Pearl gave Bonny a look as soon she had sat down, "If yes, we should
leave now."
The innocent Bonny turned a blind eye to Pearl, "Nope. I'm still waiting for my Japanese omelet!"
"Can you really finish all of that?" Pearl asked helplessly.
"Mommy, let's eat together! You haven't had lunch yet." Bonny blinked at her.
"It's okay. I'm not hungry."
Pearl's stomach growled loudly just as soon as she said that. It sounded quite loud inside quiet room.
Richard cast a glance at her.
Feeling embarrassed, Pearl let out two coughs and awkwardly changed the topic. "Bonny, you
shouldn't have too much ice cream."
Richard then flipped the menu in his hands, turned towards Ted and said, "Order me another udon, one
seafood porridge, a seafood platter, a sea urchin, one..."
"I can't eat that much," Pearl interrupted Richard quickly. Had she not stopped him, he would have
ordered everything on menu.
Richard frowned slightly. "Did I say that I ordered these for you? I haven't eaten as well."
"You are allergic to seafood."
Pearl blurted out this subconsciously, and the atmosphere inside the room immediately changed.
Sitting just beside Richard, Ted stood hastily and walked towards outside while saying, "Mr. Zellweger,
Miss Yonng, I'll go place the order."
Ted left after that, leaving Pearl, Richard, and the two kids in the room. The adults stared at each other,
while the kids happily enjoyed their own food.
