Chapter 386
Foolish Mistakes
Curtis agreed and then proactively said, "Mr. Martin, you and Ms. Davis have hit the trending, and it's causing quite a stir. Mr. Scott Martin asked me to reach out so you can address it quickly. How would you like to respond?"
Benjamin didn't reply but looked expressionlessly at Lauren on the bed before bringing his phone to his eye level, maintaining the call with Curtis as he saw the trending news about him and Lauren.
Both the shares and comments had surpassed ten thousand and were still climbing.
His gaze turned icy, and his face turned gloomy as he spoke indifferently. "Take it down immediately!"
"Yes, Mr. Martin," Curtis responded, ready with the PR draft but awaiting Benjamin's approval since the nature of his relationship with Lauren was puzzling, sometimes distant, yet at times permissive.
Holding his phone, Benjamin's deep eyes carried a subtle warmth as he said, "Lauren, I have to get back to work now, take good care of yourself."
"Benjamin, are you leaving already?" Lauren's voice, crisp and tinged with reluctance, barely concealed her dismay.
He remained aloof, his coolness barely perceptible unless one looked closely into the depths of his eyes. He explained, "The Martin Group is gearing up for a new project and we're tight on time. There's nothing serious with your foot, Rue can stay with you here." Lauren lowered her head, and she asked in a low voice, "Benjamin, if it weren't for something I remembered, would you not even come to see me?"
Benjamin kept a stern face and remained silent.
Lauren's sobs grew louder. "I know you and Harper are stable now. You've fallen for her, especially since she's carrying your child. I'm nothing compared to that. If there's any connection between us, it's just because I was involved in those
events last year."
"Lauren!" Benjamin looked at her emotionlessly. "You chose your career over our relationship. Are you regretting that decision now?
"But you must understand, even though our agreements are written clearly, do you really think I see you as just a partner? If a partner ever tried to betray me, do you think I'd keep her around?"
Benjamin's implications were heavy and clear. Lauren understood. He was warning her to drop today's scandalous rumors and not to make such foolish mistakes again. Lauren's eyes narrowed, and she fell silent.
Benjamin looked at her indifferently, a barely noticeable curve forming on his thin lips. "Take care of yourself. I'm leaving now."
"Okay." She nodded, watching him leave the hospital room, her eyes full of resentment.
Lauren had been entangled with Benjamin for too long. She didn't want to leave him. She wanted to be with him forever. Not only did Harper stand in their way, but there were
so insurmountable obstacles that meant they could never indeed be together.
If Lauren couldn't have him, then neither could anyone else. He was perfect, and only by destroying him could she drag him down with her.Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org
The more she thought about it, the darker the intent in her eyes grew.
With her lips tightly pursed and her emotions cooling, she finally picked up her phone and made a call.
Once connected, she spoke icily. "I've told him what you wanted me to say, but are you sure he'll believe it?"
