Chapter 804: Getting Along Like Friends

Sometimes, Phoebe wondered if things would have turned out differently between her and Ivan if she

hadn't been so timid back then. If she had been a little braver, like she is now, would there have been a

chance for a story to unfold between them?

But in the past, she had been filled with fear and could only secretly observe him.

"Have you been here for long?" Ivan's voice came from above just as Phoebe was lost in her thoughts.

Hearing Ivan's voice, Phoebe quickly snapped out of her drifting mind and looked up at him. "No, I

haven't been here long either."

Ivan approached and pulled out a chair to sit down. "Why did we meet here?"

"I heard the coffee here is really good," Phoebe replied.

Ivan chuckled. "Coffee tastes pretty much the same no matter where you go."

"I think it's different. If you're with someone you don't like, then no matter how good the coffee is, it will

taste bland. But if you're with someone you like, no matter where it's from or what it tastes like, it will be

delicious," Phoebe expressed her thoughts.

Ivan listened to Phoebe's words without responding.

Without any sign of evasion, Phoebe continued to gaze at Ivan. "Do you find me annoying?"

Ivan shook his head. "No."

Phoebe smiled. "What would you like to drink?"

After asking, Phoebe added, "Would you like to try the taste I usually prefer?" Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g

Ivan hesitated for a few seconds before nodding. "Sure, that works."

Phoebe ordered two cups of coffee and then turned her attention back to Ivan. "Actually, I wanted to

have a good chat with you."

"Okay," Ivan agreed.

Phoebe hadn't expected Ivan to be so cooperative today. After all, he had been avoiding her during her

time here. Ivan's sudden willingness to chat with her made Phoebe feel a little unaccustomed.

"Did my sister-in-law say something to you?" The only reason Phoebe could think of for Ivan's sudden

cooperation was Yanis talking to him. Otherwise, he wouldn't suddenly be so accommodating and

willing to have a quiet chat with her.

Ivan didn't deny it. "She didn't say anything else, just that it would be more appropriate for me to be

frank with you."

At this point, Ivan paused for a moment. "I'm also worried about causing you trouble."

Phoebe smiled. "Someone said you would listen to my sister-in-law, and I didn't quite believe it at first.

But now I do."

"Don't get me wrong. Between Yanis and me..." Ivan began.

"I know, there's nothing between you two. You're just ordinary friends. You don't have to explain it to

me," Phoebe interrupted him before he could finish his sentence.

After her words fell, Phoebe bit her lower lip. "Do you know when I first saw you? Do you remember?"

In Ivan's memory, the first time he saw Phoebe was at the entrance of Lawrence's Mansion. He was

there to pick up Yanis, and Phoebe was standing there looking displeased, talking to Yanis about

something.

So Ivan's impression of Phoebe wasn't very good, in fact, it could even be described as quite repulsive.

Thinking of this, Ivan answered truthfully, "At the entrance of Lawrence's Mansion?"

Phoebe shook her head. "It was at a dessert shop across from the school. It was raining that day, just

like today. I was sitting by the window, in the same spot as today."

Phoebe spoke slowly, recounting the details of what had happened back then to Ivan.

After listening to Phoebe's words, Ivan had no recollection of the things she mentioned. Indeed, there

was a dessert shop across from the school back then, and he used to go there often to buy things for

Yanis and Bonnie.

"I did like you, for a long time actually. But at first, I thought you had a good relationship with my sister-

in-law, so I didn't dare to disturb you. On one hand, I thought my sister-in-law would definitely not allow

you to be with me, and on the other hand, I thought you liked my sister-in-law," Phoebe confessed.

"But my feelings were accurate. You did like her before," she added.

Ivan furrowed his brow as he listened to Phoebe's words. He wanted to say something but hesitated

before speaking.

"I know you're not in the mood to talk about relationships right now, and I won't persistently pester you.

I just want you to calm down and give me a chance. I don't need a direct response from you, but at

least we can be friends, right?" Phoebe expressed her thoughts, reaching this point in the

conversation. If Ivan were to refuse again, it wouldn't be fair.

Therefore, after Phoebe finished speaking, Ivan didn't refuse. "Okay."

Phoebe felt relieved when she heard Ivan's agreement. "So, from now on, we're friends? I can

message you, call you, and you won't reject or ignore me?"

After saying this, Phoebe quickly added, "Don't worry, I won't constantly bother you with messages or

calls, just occasionally. Is that alright?"

"Okay, no problem," Ivan replied.

Phoebe took a deep breath. "I thought you would refuse and say something direct to reject me. I was

nervous when I came here earlier."

"I was still emotionally unsettled during the previous period, so my attitude might have been a bit cold. I

apologize," Ivan explained.

Phoebe shook her head. "It's okay, I understand. I was too aggressive before. I'm sorry."

As their eyes met, both of them simultaneously smiled.

"Are we planning to keep apologizing to each other like this?" Phoebe asked, amused.

Ivan chuckled. "Then let's not say anything more."

Phoebe nodded. "Today, I'm going back with my sister-in-law. Are you... not planning to go back to

Manches City?"

"I won't go back for now. We'll see about the future," Ivan replied.

Phoebe nodded again. "Alright, if I have time, can I come and find you?"

Ivan agreed, "Sure."

Phoebe was satisfied with the conversation being open. At least she wasn't being shut out completely.

Ivan accompanied Yanis and the others to the airport. While Zane and Phoebe went to check in their

luggage, Ivan turned to Yanis. "Please tell Bonnie that I will come back to see her."

Yanis nodded. "Are you planning to stay here then?"

"For the next few years, I definitely won't go back, nor do I want to," Ivan said softly.

"Mrs. Baxter... she's just..." Yanis started, but Ivan interrupted.

"Yanis, you don't have to explain anything for her. I know better than anyone what kind of person she

is, and I can't pretend that all the things she did didn't happen, even if she's my mother," Ivan stated

firmly.

Hearing Ivan's words, Yanis didn't know how to respond.

Madison's need for control is too strong, and she considers anything that contradicts her as defiance.

So if Ivan and Madison truly want to reconcile, it ultimately depends on Madison herself.

If Madison continues to be dominant, then the relationship between mother and son will definitely not

improve in a short period of time.

"It's about time. You should go back," Yanis whispered as she saw Zane and Phoebe approaching.

Ivan nodded. "Alright."
