Ivan responded, "On the wall."
After speaking, Ivan looked at Teddy and asked, "Did she call you?"
Teddy nodded, "Uncle Baxter also called just now. He said if he sees you, let him know right away, as
he's a bit worried about you."
Ivan made a sound of agreement, "Don't worry, I'll go back later tonight."
Teddy wanted to say something more but Ivan interrupted, "Alright, weren't we supposed to drink
tonight? It's my treat, so let's enjoy ourselves."
Teddy looked at Ivan like that and swallowed the words that were about to come out of his mouth,
"Alright, let's drink. We won't go home until we're drunk."
The group of friends often hung out together, and they could all tell that Ivan was in a bad mood, so
they didn't say anything unnecessary.
As for why Madison had been calling all evening, no one was really curious enough to ask Ivan.
After a few rounds of drinks, Teddy sat silently with Ivan.
Teddy watched as Ivan finished one glass after another, and he reached out and took the glass from
Ivan's hand, "Are you planning to drink yourself into a stupor before you stop?"
When Ivan heard Teddy's words, he glanced at him, "No, I'm not drunk."
"I know you're not drunk now, but if you keep drinking like this, you'll probably get drunk soon." Teddy
drank the remaining contents of the glass and placed the empty glass on the table next to him. Then he
turned to Ivan and whispered, "Ivan, it's just the two of us here now. Is there something you can't tell
me? If you can't, I'll accompany you in drinking tonight. If you can, just tell me."
After listening to Teddy's words, Ivan fell silent for a few seconds, "Do you have a cigarette?"
Teddy got up and took a cigarette from the other table, handed it to Ivan, and lit it for him. Then he took
one for himself and found a comfortable position to sit next to Ivan.
"I don't want to get married anymore."
Just when Teddy was becoming impatient, Ivan suddenly said this.
Upon hearing Ivan's words, Teddy froze for a moment while smoking, then turned to look at him, "Are
you serious? Or is it just a momentary impulse?"
"Do I look like someone who acts on impulse?"
"No, you compromised before. Why are you suddenly changing your mind now?" Teddy leaned closer
to Ivan, "You're not still hung up on Yanis, are you? She has already reconciled with someone else, you
don't have a chance anymore."
"Teddy, do you think I'm someone who doesn't know my limits?"
"You know your limits, but why do you suddenly not want to get married? It's not fair to Miss Hope if you
treat her like this." Teddy said earnestly.
Ivan flicked the cigarette ash and spoke softly, "Mila and I have an agreement. This engagement is just
a deal. I just don't want to be forced into following the path that others have set for me. The more they
want me to do something, the less I want to do it."
Listening to Ivan's words, Teddy didn't interrupt him. Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g
After he finished speaking, Teddy finally asked, "To be honest, did you have a fight with Aunt Baxter?"
Hearing Teddy's question, Ivan furrowed his brow slightly, "I never thought her controlling nature would
extend to me. I always thought her control was only directed at my dad."
Teddy had known Ivan for many years, so he naturally understood Madison's personality.
Ryan was a person without much temper, and out of the ten things Madison said, Ryan would listen to
all ten of them.
Basically, Madison's words held sway in the Baxter family.
In the eyes of outsiders, Madison was a strong-willed person. But in reality, her strong-willed nature
went a bit too far, making it difficult for people to understand. With Ryan's indulgence, Madison's
dominance gradually turned into a frightening control. She used to exert this control over Ryan alone,
but now she has shifted her terrifying control onto Ivan.
Controlling Ryan alone wasn't enough for her, and now she wanted to control Ivan as well. She started
by opposing Ivan's relationship with Yanis, then took it upon herself to meet Yanis with Mila without
consulting him, and various other instances. Initially, Ivan could understand Madison's mindset. But as
time went on, Madison's actions became more and more excessive, which Ivan simply couldn't accept.
Especially when Madison started prying into his daily activities and the people he met, the feeling of
being constantly monitored was extremely repulsive to Ivan. He had patiently talked to Madison about it
before, and although it didn't end well that time, it at least worked for a few days. However, before long,
she escalated her control to an even greater extent, meddling in his personal life, social interactions,
work matters, and even emotional affairs.
Who he associated with, who he was close to-especially when it came to anything related to Yanis-
Madison stubbornly made Ivan feel suffocated. When Ivan said, "Yanis and I are just friends," he spoke
wearily. But for Madison, these words were a denial, a lie.
Initially, Ivan could endure it, after all, she was his mother. But when he saw the surveillance camera in
the car just now, Ivan's already dwindling patience completely collapsed. Teddy, after listening to Ivan's
words, fell silent for a while. He didn't know what to say either.
In Teddy's memory, Madison was a woman who understood the big picture, but this obsessive control
was truly suffocating. If it were happening to him, he might have shut it down directly. Ivan's ability to
endure until now was truly remarkable.
Teddy finished smoking, extinguished the cigarette, and proactively poured a glass of wine for Ivan. "I'll
drink with you."
Ivan reached out and took the glass from Teddy's hand, his voice sounding low. "Teddy, I really can't
take it anymore."
"Does Uncle Baxter know?" Teddy asked.
Ivan finished his last drag of the cigarette and pressed the butt into the ashtray. "You know he has no
say in anything. Whatever my mom says is right, and he must obey her orders."
Teddy gently patted Ivan's shoulder. "Have you thought things through when you mentioned earlier?"
Ivan took a sip of the wine. "Last time, I actually wanted to talk to Mila about it, but she had something
come up that day and still hasn't mentioned it until now."
"Ivan, to be honest, do you still have feelings for Yanis?" Teddy asked.
Ivan fell silent for a few seconds after hearing Teddy's question. "Yes, I do."
