Teddy responded, "It's nothing. I just need to talk to Ivan about the business of opening a store. Since I
have some time tonight, we'll chat and see if it works out or not."
"Alright, if it's nothing urgent, then I won't disturb you," Madison said and hung up the phone directly.
Ivan looked at Madison hanging up the phone and then spoke up, "Can I go out now?"
Madison looked at Ivan and her tone softened a bit compared to before. "Ivan, your mom only wants
the best for you. You and Yanis are not from the same world. She is different from you..."
"I'm just friends with her, as ordinary as friends can be. If I really had something with Yanis, do you
think Zane would let it go easily?" Ivan interrupted Madison, his voice low.
"I've told you many times already, there are no other feelings between Yanis and me, nothing at all.
We're just friends. You can't keep limiting even my ability to make friends," Ivan said, his voice serious. Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
"Ivan, what do you mean by that? Are you saying I'm restricting you?" Madison asked.
"Isn't it true?" Ivan looked at Madison. "Mom, I don't have any personal space anymore. You have Mila
monitoring my every move, and I can endure and bear with that. But you can't interfere with everyone
around me. It has a significant impact on me."
Madison's expression turned cold with Ivan's words. "So, you're blaming me? Blaming me for caring
about you?"
Seeing Madison like this, Ivan felt suffocated in the house.
"Forget it, I'm leaving first." Ivan didn't want to say much to Madison and reached out to grab his phone
from the table before turning and leaving.
There were still Madison's repeated reminders behind him, but Ivan quickened his pace, swiftly walked
out of the door, and left Madison's voice behind.
In that moment of closing the door, the suffocating feeling instantly diminished.
Thinking about Madison's actions just now, Ivan's eyes darkened. He raised his head, looked at the
rearview mirror in front of the car, and then deliberately drove the car into the green belt on the other
side. The car collided with a utility pole, and due to the tremendous impact, the small object under the
rearview mirror fell off.
Almost at the same time, Ivan's phone rang.
It was Madison calling.
Feeling a bit dizzy from the intense impact earlier, Ivan took a moment to recover. He reversed the car
a little before driving away again.
The fallen camera on the side had lost its light. It broke when it fell earlier.
The phone kept ringing on the side, but Ivan didn't answer.
After numerous rings, when it finally stopped, Teddy's call came through.
Ivan reached out and answered the phone.
Without giving Teddy a chance to speak, Ivan said directly, "Wait for me there. If she calls you again,
tell her you couldn't reach me."
After finishing his words, Ivan hung up the phone and turned it off.
On the other side, Teddy hadn't even put his phone down from his ear when Madison called again.
Teddy was getting nervous just looking at the phone.
He answered the call, and even before he could say anything, Madison's anxious voice came through,
"How is it, Teddy? Have you contacted Ivan?"
Teddy remembered what Ivan had said earlier and clenched his teeth. "Not yet. I just called a few
friends we hang out with. They'll contact me if they see him."
"Teddy, if you have any news about Ivan, let me know, okay?" Madison said.
Teddy replied, "Sure."
After Madison hung up the phone, Teddy couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief.
"Teddy, what's going on?" someone nearby couldn't help but ask, seeing the continuous stream of
phone calls.
Teddy sighed, "I can't really say what's going on. If you're curious, ask Ivan himself when he comes
over later."
"But didn't you say earlier that you couldn't reach him?"
"Are you stupid? Obviously, Ivan doesn't want Teddy to say anything," Teddy replied.
"Oh, right, speaking of which, my mom told me earlier that Ivan's mom was hospitalized because Ivan
got into a fight and was detained for a night or something. And after coming back home, the mother
and son started arguing."
"Are you talking about Yanis?"
"Yeah, it's her. Back when they were in school, their relationship was so good, I thought they would end
up together."
"They're just friends. Ivan said that a long time ago, and besides, isn't Yanis interested in someone
from the Lawrence family?"
The group of people chatted noisily about the situation between Ivan and Yanis.
Teddy felt irritated listening to them. "Can you stop gossiping like a bunch of gossiping women? You
have nothing better to do?"
The group fell silent at Teddy's scolding.
After a few seconds of quiet, Teddy's phone rang again.
It was Madison calling once more.
Teddy took a deep breath and answered the phone.
Before he could say anything, Madison's voice came through, "Teddy, it's me."
"Uncle Baxter?" Teddy asked.
Ryan responded, "Do you have any news about Ivan?"
"Not yet. We're still looking, and if we have any updates, we'll let you know first," Teddy replied. He had
a certain level of respect for Ryan compared to Madison, who often made him feel nervous.
"Alright, let me know if there's any news. We're a bit worried about him," Ryan said.
"Sure, Uncle Baxter. If Ivan contacts me, I'll have him call you," Teddy assured him.
After the conversation, Teddy paused for a moment and asked, "Uncle Baxter, is something going on
with Ivan?"
Ryan replied, "Not really, we just can't reach him by phone."
"Okay, if I have any news about Ivan, I'll let you know."
Just as Teddy ended the call, Ivan pushed open the door and walked in from outside.
When Teddy saw Ivan, he stood up and asked, "What's going on with you?"
Ivan's face didn't look too good as he walked up and sat directly on the couch. "It's nothing. I just
accidentally bumped my head earlier."
Teddy's gaze fell on Ivan's forehead. "Where did you bump yourself?"
