Chapter 763: Don't You Trust Me Like That?

After listening to Yanis, Zane fell silent for a few seconds. "Let's wait for the news from Dr. Wood and

until Anika wakes up," he finally said.

Yanis nodded. "Alright."

Iris finished her call and turned to Zane and Yanis. "There's something going on at the company. I'll go

handle it and come back later."

Yanis nodded again. "You go ahead. We'll be here."

With that, Iris acknowledged Zane with a nod and left.

Not long after Iris left, Anika woke up and was taken to a private ward by the nurse.

After giving instructions, the nurse left the room.

Yanis approached the bedside and sat down on the chair. She looked at Anika lying on the hospital

bed. "Anika?"

Upon hearing Yanis' words, Anika's fingers twitched.

Yanis gently held Anika's hand in her own. "It's alright now. We'll be by your side all the time. If you're

tired, you can sleep for a while, okay?"

Anika's hand responded by lightly squeezing Yanis' hand.

"Iris had something to attend to at the company, but she'll come to see you later. You should rest and

not worry us," Yanis continued, her voice gentle.

Anika squeezed Yanis' hand again.

Due to the effects of anesthesia, Anika fell asleep shortly after waking up.

Watching Anika sleep, Yanis turned to Zane. "You can go back. I'll stay here with Anika."

Zane glanced at the sleeping Anika. "No need. I'll stay with you. I'll have Albi bring something from D-

king Castle later."

Yanis didn't say anything more when she heard Zane's response. Sometimes, when Zane made up his

mind, nothing could change it. So Yanis didn't insist any further.

Because of Anika's situation, Yanis completely forgot about her dinner plans with Ivan in the evening.

It wasn't until Ivan called that Yanis remembered their agreement to have dinner together.

Afraid of disturbing Anika, Yanis stepped outside to answer the call.

"Ivan, I'm sorry. Something came up with Anika today, so I've been at the hospital the whole afternoon

and haven't been able to go home. I might not be able to make it tonight. Let's reschedule," Yanis

explained the situation to Ivan.

After listening to Yanis, Ivan didn't say much. "It's alright. Is Anika okay? She's receiving treatment at

South Hospital, right?"

"Dr. Wood said her condition is a bit complicated. It's more serious than before."

Ivan spoke softly, "It's fine. You take care of Anika. We can have dinner another time."

Yanis agreed, "Okay, let's arrange another time."

Meanwhile, at the Baxter family...

After ending the call with Yanis, Ivan stared blankly out the window.

When something weighs on the heart for too long, it can sometimes breed a sense of rebellion.

His hand holding the phone vibrated, bringing Ivan's wandering thoughts back.

It was a message from Mila.

[Have you made up your mind?]

Ivan hesitated for a long time upon seeing Mila's message but didn't reply. Instead, he called Teddy.

The call connected instantly on Teddy's end.

"Hey, Ivan. I was about to put up missing person posters. Who's calling that scared you like this?"

Teddy teased over the phone.

Ivan asked in a low voice, "Are you free tonight? It's been a while since.

Teddy exclaimed, "You have time to hang out with us?"

"Quit the nonsense, do you have time? I'll treat," Ivan replied.

"Ivan already agreed, so he must be making time for it," Teddy added.

"Then let's meet at Starry Bar later," Ivan suggested.

Teddy responded, "Alright."

After hanging up the phone, Ivan turned and headed out the door.

Before he even reached the bottom of the stairs, Madison's voice rang out, "Are you going out?"

Ivan paused for a moment, "I made plans to talk with Teddy."

While Ivan continued walking towards the door, Madison's tone instantly carried a hint of questioning,

"Ivan, tell me honestly, are you going to see Yanis again?"

Ivan halted his steps, trying to make his voice sound less cold, "I genuinely made plans with Teddy. If

you don't believe me, go ahead and call Teddy now."

As soon as Madison heard Ivan's words, she immediately picked up the phone from the table and

prepared to call Teddy.

Seeing Madison's actions, Ivan suddenly found it somewhat amusing, "You really don't trust me like © NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.

that?"

"Ivan, I've given you more than enough trust, but how have you repaid me? When you got yourself

arrested because of Yanis, did you ever think about how we felt?" Madison's tone instantly became

confrontational.

Ivan took a deep breath, suddenly not wanting to explain anything or say anything at all, "I'll be waiting

here. Go ahead and call Teddy now."

"I definitely will," Madison said, looking at Ivan. "Leave your phone here."

Ivan, without any remaining resistance, approached and placed his phone on the coffee table, "Is this

okay?"

Madison glanced at Ivan and directly dialed Teddy's number on her own phone.

On Teddy's side, seeing Madison's incoming call almost caused him to throw his phone away.

The person next to him patted Teddy's shoulder, "Whose call scared you like that?"

Teddy glanced at the person, "Later, don't make any noise, okay? It's Ivan's mom."

"Whoa, why so cautious? Talking to a girlfriend? Checking up on you?" the person teased.

"No, it's Ivan's mom," Teddy replied.

Upon hearing that, everyone nodded in agreement, understanding the need to silence their phones,

"You take the call, we'll put our phones on silent."

Teddy glanced at the group of people before answering the call, "Hello, Aunt Baxter?"

"Teddy, is Ivan with you?" Madison's voice sounded warm and gentle, making it hard to imagine that

such a person could be so forceful to the point of intimidation.

Madison's control extended beyond the scope of a typical mother.

In a certain matter, she exhibited an irrational persistence that made others wary.

Especially when it came to Yanis.

Previously, Teddy was aware that Madison really liked Yanis and even intended for her to date Ivan.

But after learning about Yanis's relationship with Zane, Madison suddenly seemed like a completely

different person, strongly opposing any connection between Yanis and Ivan.

Now that Ivan is engaged to Mila, it hasn't made Madison relax in the slightest. If anything, she has

become even more forceful, finding even normal interactions between them surprising.

Upon hearing Madison's question, Teddy truthfully responded, "I made plans to talk with Ivan tonight,

but he's probably still on his way. Aunt Baxter, is something wrong?"

After hearing Teddy's words, Madison chuckled, "No, I saw him rush out of the house and thought

something had happened. Since you've made plans, I can rest assured."
