Chapter 754: Myles Can't Be Saved
As soon as Bonnie was brought into the emergency room, Yanis' phone started ringing.
It was a call from Zane.
Yanis answered the phone and spoke before Zane could say anything. "Zane, can you come to the
hospital right now? Also, let Haider know that something happened to Myles."
After hearing Yanis' words, Zane responded, "I'm on my way."
Yanis acknowledged with a sound of agreement.
After hanging up the phone, Yanis glanced in the direction of the emergency room and then turned to
the information desk in the front lobby.
"Hello, was there a severely injured person brought in after a car accident?" Yanis approached the
nurse at the information desk and asked.
"Yes, they've already been taken to the operating room on the sixth floor," replied the nurse.
"Alright, thank you," Yanis responded.
Yanis first returned to the entrance of the emergency room and asked the nurse at the nearby station
how long it would take for Bonnie to come out. Only then did she go to the sixth floor.
When Yanis arrived, there were only two police officers covered in blood inside the operating room, and
no one else was present.
One of the officers approached Yanis and asked, "You were the one who called for the injured person,
right?"
Yanis nodded upon hearing his words. "Yes."
The officer handed his phone to Yanis. "This is the injured person's phone."
Yanis reached out and took it. "Thank you."
The phone screen was slightly cracked, but the picture of Myles and Bonnie together was still clear.
As Yanis looked at the photo on the phone, she couldn't quite describe the emotions she felt.
If something happened to Myles, Yanis had no idea how Bonnie would react.
Their breakup was one thing, but if they were separated like this, it would be an entirely different
matter.
Suddenly, Myles' phone rang in Yanis' hand.
Looking at the caller ID, Yanis answered the call. "Haider, it's me, Yanis."
"Yanis, where's Myles? How is he doing?" Haider's tone sounded particularly anxious over the phone.
"He's still in the operating room. I just arrived here," Yanis replied.
"At No. 1 Hospital?"
Yanis confirmed with a sound of agreement. "Are you on your way now?"
Haider said, "I'm on my way, I'll be there soon."
After saying that, Haider fell silent for a few seconds before asking another question. "What about
Bonnie? Does she know about this?"
With the situation having reached this point, Yanis didn't hide anything from Haider and truthfully
explained the situation. "Bonnie is still in the emergency room, undergoing examination."
"Bonnie is injured too?"
"She... she's pregnant."
Upon hearing Yanis' words, Haider fell silent instantly. "I'll be there soon. We'll talk when we meet."
Yanis responded, "Okay, Haider, drive safely."
After hanging up the phone, Yanis looked towards the direction of the operating room, then checked
the time again. Bonnie's examination hadn't finished yet.
Every passing second felt like an eternity to Yanis during this short period of time.
Zane arrived at the hospital before Haider.
When Yanis saw Zane, she took a couple of steps forward. "Zane, you stay with Myles. I'll go
downstairs to check on Bonnie."
"Has the surgery finished?" Zane asked as he looked at Yanis.
Upon hearing Zane's question, Yanis instantly realized. "Not yet, he hasn't been assigned a number.
But Bonnie is feeling uncomfortable now and undergoing an examination."
Zane nodded softly. "You go see her, I'll stay here."
Yanis nodded in agreement, then turned and left.
When Yanis reached the ground floor, Bonnie had just come out.
"Bonnie, how are you doing?"
Bonnie shook her head. "I'm fine."
"But your complexion looks really bad."
"Maybe I ate too many sweet things earlier, and it's making me feel sick. Don't worry, it's nothing,"
Bonnie said, pulling Yanis to sit on a nearby chair. "I just feel suffocated and uneasy. I can't explain the
feeling, even breathing is difficult."
Yanis looked at Bonnie, hesitating for a few seconds, before finally telling her the truth. "Bonnie, you
need to be prepared for something."
Upon hearing Yanis' words, Bonnie's hand, which was resting on her lap, tightened for a moment
before slowly relaxing. "What happened? Why do I need to be mentally prepared?"
Yanis met Bonnie's gaze and spoke softly. "Myles... is in the intensive care unit, and the situation is not
optimistic. The police officer who brought him to the hospital said he was severely injured."
After Yanis said those words, Bonnie sat there as if she had been struck and stared at Yanis blankly.
It was as if she hadn't heard what Yanis had just said.
"Bonnie?"
"Yanis, what did you just say? How can Myles be in the intensive care unit? Did you accept something
from Myles again and want to deceive me? Is that it?" Although Bonnie said this with a smile, tears had
already been streaming down her face.
"Yanis, Miss Thompson, you've gone too far. You're my good friend, how can you repeatedly take
Myles' side like this? Do you not love me anymore?"
Yanis reached out and hugged Bonnie, her voice soft as she spoke, "Bonnie, I haven't."
Bonnie pushed Yanis away, raising her hand to wipe her tears haphazardly. "I won't believe you
anyway. Let's go upstairs now. I'm not feeling upset anymore. You can wait outside later..."
"Bonnie, what I said earlier was true," Yanis interjected.
Bonnie's expression changed slightly, and then she laughed, "How is that possible? He even said he'd
invite me to his wedding banquet. I was thinking of crashing it when he gets married. How could he be
in the emergency room? How could he... be in the emergency room?"
"Yanis, are you lying to me?" Bonnie grabbed Yanis' hand, her eyes filled with anticipation, hoping to
hear the words she wanted from Yanis' mouth, but Yanis remained silent.
"Yanis, say something! Are you lying to me, yes or no?"
Yanis was about to speak when Zane's call came in.
Supporting Bonnie with one hand, Yanis answered the phone, "Zane?"
"Myles... didn't make it," Zane's voice came through the phone.
Yanis tightened her grip on the phone, "I understand."
After hanging up the phone, Yanis looked at Bonnie. "Bonnie, Myles..."
"Don't say it!" Bonnie suddenly let go of Yanis, "I don't want to hear it!"Exclusive content © by Nô(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.
After saying that, Bonnie reached out and grabbed Yanis' hand again, holding it tightly. "Yanis, we...
we've already registered, let's go upstairs first."
Bonnie's face was already wet with tears, and her hand holding Yanis' was trembling. Her forced smile
looked even more heartbreaking.
"Bonnie, listen to me, Myles..."
Bonnie raised her hand to cover Yanis' mouth, "Don't say it... I'm begging you... don't say it..."
