Yanis responded, "I told you earlier that you would worry, but I'm fine and not injured."

Zane freed a hand and held Yanis's hand. "Next time, let me know right away if something happens."

Yanis nodded, saying, "Okay."

After Yanis finished speaking, she suddenly remembered something and handed Zane the business

card Adam had given her. "I haven't heard of this company before. Is it a newly established one?"

Zane looked at the business card Yanis handed him and glanced at the name on it. His brow furrowed

slightly. "Adam?"

Yanis looked at him and asked, "Do you know him?"

Zane handed the business card back to Yanis, maintaining a calm expression. "I don't know him. This

company isn't new; it's located outside the downtown area, not in the city center."

Yanis rarely went to that side of town, so she had no knowledge of this company.

Yanis stared at the business card in her hand for a few seconds. "Zane, why do I feel like I've heard

this name before?"

When Yanis heard Zane's words, she turned her head and looked at him. "The Bennetts?"

Zane nodded.

"But you just said you didn't know him."

Zane glanced at Yanis and said, "Yanis, I'll tell you about this when we get back."

Yanis had something to say, but as she was about to speak, she paused for a moment and then

nodded. "Okay."

However, Yanis thought about what Bonnie had mentioned earlier about Neve's intention to appeal.

According to reason, Neve was the daughter of Bruce and Lucia, while Adam was the son of Bruce and

his legitimate wife, Mrs. Bennett. Given their relationship, Adam should have some resistance towards

Neve.

So it was highly likely that Adam wouldn't bother with Neve's situation. Even if he wanted to help

someone, he should go after Bruce first, as Bruce was Adam's father.

But Yanis couldn't understand why Adam would choose to help Neve first.

"Yanis?"

Yanis was lost in thought, and it took Zane calling her name twice to bring her back to her senses.

"Hmm? What's the matter?"

"What are you thinking about?"

Yanis hesitated for a moment and then told Zane the truth, "Bonnie said that when she went to a

client's house to take measurements, she heard that someone from the Bennett family is helping Neve

with her appeal. If the appeal is successful, Neve could be released early."

Upon hearing Yanis's words, Zane furrowed his brow. "Bonnie told you that?"

"She heard it from someone else, just a couple of sentences," Yanis replied.

With that said, Yanis looked at Zane and asked, "Could it be Adam who's helping Neve?"

Zane had also heard rumors before that someone from the Bennett family was preparing an appeal for

Neve.

At the time, Zane had simply listened without paying much attention to it.

Because Neve's situation was no longer relevant to him.

Even if someone from the Bennett family managed to successfully get Neve released early, it was their

own capability. This text is © NôvelDrama/.Org.

As long as it didn't involve him or cross his bottom line, he wouldn't interfere.

But Zane didn't expect Adam to suddenly shift his focus to Yanis.

Earlier, Yanis believed that Adam had made a mistake due to his carelessness while driving. Yanis

believed it, but Zane didn't.

Adam wasn't a rookie, even if he was momentarily distracted. The road he just traveled had eight

lanes, so he had plenty of opportunity to turn right. But against all odds, he ended up on the left side.

It's hard to believe it wasn't intentional.

However, Zane didn't say these words in front of Yanis.

Back at D-king Castle, Zane helped Yanis put away the water. "Yanis, you go freshen up first. I'll go

downstairs and pour a glass of water."

Yanis nodded and took the clothes before heading into the bathroom.

After Yanis went in, Zane approached her notebook and took Adam's business card, entering the

number in his phone. He then turned and left the bedroom.

"Sir, do you need anything?" The housekeeper was still awake and came out of the room upon hearing

footsteps.

Zane shook his head. "No, you go rest."

The housekeeper nodded and turned back into the room.

Zane walked to a small living room area and dialed a number.

The call connected quickly, and Adam was on the other end. "Mr. Lawrence, long time no see."

Adam seemed to have expected the call, exchanging greetings with Zane right after answering.

Zane didn't engage in small talk with Adam and went straight to the point. "I'm curious, what did Mr.

Bennett mean tonight? Did I offend Mr. Bennett somewhere, or did my wife offend him?"

Adam chuckled. "Tonight's incident was truly an accident. Mr. Lawrence, are you overthinking it?"

"Adam, I don't care what you're planning, but I hope you won't target the wrong person."

When Adam heard Zane's words, he lightly laughed. "I'll say it again, tonight was an accident. Mr.

Lawrence, you might be overthinking it."

"I hope it's just me overthinking. Where is my wife's car? I'll have someone retrieve it. No need to

trouble Mr. Bennett with repairs or anything."

Adam said, "Mr. Lawrence, there's no need for you to be so defensive. I have no intention of getting

involved in your matters with Neve."

Zane repeated his previous request. "Please just tell me the location of the car, and I'll have someone

come and tow it."

Adam paused for a few seconds before providing the address to Zane.

"Thank you for your cooperation."

Zane was about to hang up the phone when Adam's voice came through from the other end. "Mr.

Lawrence."

"Is there something else?"

"If I were to get Neve out right now, Mr. Lawrence wouldn't interfere, right?" Adam's inquiry reached

Zane's ears.

Zane calmly replied, "That's Mr. Bennett's business."

Adam naturally understood the implications in Zane's words. "Alright, I understand."

Zane didn't say anything more and ended the call.

Meanwhile, in West City.

Kellan watched as Adam hung up the phone and handed him a cigarette. "I didn't expect Mr. Bennett

and Zane to know each other?"

Adam put down his phone and took the cigarette from Kellan's hand. "You could say that we know each

other, but we haven't had much interaction before."

After lighting his cigarette, Kellan handed the lighter to Adam. "I heard that Mr. Bennett's father and

sister ended up in trouble because of Zane, right?"

Adam took a drag from the cigarette and lifted his gaze to Kellan. "You really are wasting your talent if

you're not working as a gossip reporter."

Kellan laughed. "Those rumors were all over the place recently. Hard to avoid hearing them."

With that said, Kellan looked at Adam. "But one thing I'm curious about is why Mr. Bennett didn't step in

to help your father and sister back then?"
