Chapter 739: Women Can Succeed or Fail

Adam took a drag of his cigarette, squinting his eyes slightly. In a calm voice, he said, "If I had

intervened back then, it would have made their situation even more difficult."

"And now there's an opportunity?" Kellan asked.

Adam chuckled. "You seem quite interested in my affairs. Are you here for the spectacle or to show

concern?"

Kellan flicked the ashes off his cigarette and replied honestly, "Both."

"Oh?" Adam raised an eyebrow.

"I want to witness the spectacle, but as a business partner, I also worry. After all, we just started this

collaboration, and if Zane messes things up for you, where will I find another compatible partner?"

Kellan didn't hide his thoughts from Adam.

Adam laughed. "What about you and Zane? I haven't heard about any unresolved conflicts between

you two."

Kellan squinted slightly when he heard Adam's question. "There are no unresolved conflicts. I just don't

like him."

Adam chuckled at that.

Curious about Adam's laughter, Kellan asked, "What's so funny?"

"Nothing," Adam replied softly, finishing his cigarette in silence. Then he looked at Kellan and said,

"Zane has complete control over the Lawrence Group now. He has his hands in most industries in

Manches City. It won't be easy to take him down."

Kellan spoke calmly, "Everyone has weaknesses. Once you find and exploit those weaknesses, there's

always a way to bring them down."

"Are you implying that you've found his weakness?" Adam looked at Kellan.

Meeting Adam's gaze, Kellan replied, "Don't tell me you haven't found his weakness?"

Adam burst into laughter. "I have. I just encountered his weakness tonight, and it turned out to be quite

interesting."

Kellan finished his last drag of the cigarette, extinguishing it in the ashtray on the table. "Women can

succeed or fail," he said. Then he chuckled self-deprecatingly, "They say a gentleman doesn't touch a

woman, but I've never been much of a gentleman."

Adam glanced at him. "Funny, I'm not one either."

The two exchanged a smile, understanding each other without saying a word.

At least they shared the same goal.

...

After ending the call with Adam, Zane immediately called Albi and instructed him to take Yanis' car

somewhere else for repairs.

Once he finished giving instructions to Albi, Zane headed upstairs.

When Zane went up, Yanis hadn't come out of the bathroom yet.

Just as Zane was about to knock on the door, his phone rang again.

Seeing the caller ID, Zane furrowed his brow slightly and turned around, stepping out of the bedroom to

answer the call. "Lawyer Lane."

"Sorry for calling you so late," Lane's voice came through with a hint of apology.

"It's alright, I haven't slept yet," Zane replied, getting straight to the point. "Is it about Ahmed's family?"

Lane confirmed, "Yes, Ahmed's family has also hired a lawyer. They found some witnesses from that

night to testify that Ahmed's death had nothing to do with you and Ivan. But this time, they've brought in

another person."

Upon hearing that, Zane's brow creased. "Another person?"

Lane affirmed, "Bonnie also allegedly got involved and hit Ahmed that night, according to the

witnesses."

"Have you asked Bonnie about it?"

"Not yet. I just wanted to inform you first. This lawsuit might continue for some time."

Speaking of this, Lane paused for a moment. "By the way, be careful during this time. Ahmed's mother

has some shady connections, if you know what I mean."

Zane murmured softly, "I understand, thanks."

After hanging up the phone, Zane rubbed his forehead and adjusted his emotions when he heard some

movement coming from the room. He then composed himself and entered the bedroom.

When Yanis saw Zane coming in, her motion of drying her hair paused. "Weren't you getting water?

Why did you come back empty-handed?"

Zane approached her upon hearing her voice and took the towel from Yanis' hand to help dry her hair.

"I drank downstairs. Do you want water? Shall I get some for you?"

Yanis shook her head. "No need."

As she said that, Yanis raised her hand to stop Zane from drying her hair. "I'll do it myself. It's late, go

wash up and rest."

Zane murmured, "Alright, blow dry your hair a bit before sleeping."

Yanis nodded. "Okay."

When Zane finished his shower and came out, he initially wanted to discuss what Lane had mentioned

with Yanis. However, when he reached the bedside, Yanis had already fallen asleep.

Deciding not to bring up the matter with Yanis, Zane let it go.

The next day, Zane had an early meeting at the company, so he left before Yanis. The incident

mentioned earlier slipped his mind, and he forgot to mention it to Yanis.

Yanis accidentally overslept, and by the time she arrived at the store, it was already past nine o'clock.

Just as she parked the car, she saw a few police officers coming out from inside.

Yanis was taken aback, and then she saw Bonnie coming out from behind, still in conversation with one

of the officers.

Yanis stood by the car, hesitating to approach until the police officers left. She then walked towards

Bonnie. "What's going on?"

Bonnie looked at Yanis. "Nothing much, just routine questioning."

Upon hearing the phrase "routine questioning," Yanis furrowed her brow. "What routine questioning?"

Bonnie pursed her lips and whispered, "About Ahmed's incident. Ahmed's family found witnesses who

claim I was involved too, so the police came to investigate."

"Ahmed's family won't let it go?" Yanis sighed. "Well, I guess when someone suddenly dies, things

won't calm down easily."

Bonnie nodded. "That's right. I mean, I did get physical with him, but I never expected him to end up

dead."

As Bonnie said that, she paused. "I heard Ahmed's family even caused a scene at the hospital."

"What did they do at the hospital? It has nothing to do with the hospital." Yanis couldn't understand.

"Not at the hospital, it was at Fukuma's place. Ahmed's family is influential, and since Ahmed got into

trouble, they're trying to put all the blame on others. Fukuma ended up bearing some of that

responsibility."

Yanis said with a stern voice, "If Ahmed was still alive, he wouldn't escape legal consequences for what

he did. Why should Ahmed's family blame Fukuma?"

Bonnie listened to Yanis and placed her hand on Yanis' shoulder. "Some things are not as simple as we NôvelDrama.Org is the owner.

think. The world is full of wonders, all sorts of people exist. Ahmed's family is just like that, and there

are even more outrageous ones you haven't encountered."
