Chapter 220
The driver took a few steps back, bending over and wiping his sweat-drenched face, nodding repeatedly.
Eileen said calmly, "Drag the guys in the truck out and bring them in." With that, she pushed open the rusty iron door.
Meanwhile, in a bungalow not far away. A wicked man sat in a chair. His grey eyes were glaring as he fiddled absent-mindedly with the sharp knife in his hand. Suddenly, a terrified plea for help rang in his ears, "Spare me, please. All my money is yours. No matter much you want, I'll give it all to you!"
The man's lips curled into a cold smirk. He glanced at the pleading man and said nonchalantly, "Michael, money could have solved this problem originally, but unfortunately..."
With that, he motioned with his hand. One of his goons, carring a silenced pistol, aimed at the back of the man's head. The man was so scared he wet his pants, "What do you want..."
A gunshot rang out. Just as the blood splattered, NightKing glanced at his black leather shoes. There was a spot of dark red blood on them. The guy who fired the shot immediately crouched down and wiped the shoes clean with his sleeve.
At that moment, the door was pushed open, and someone reported, "Boss, someone's entered the old factory."
NightKing looked towards the door, "Military?"
"Not sure." The guy said.
He was indifferent, "No matter, better to kill wrongly than to let one go. Let's go."
Eileen had been waiting in the factory for nearly half an hour and still hadn't seen NightKing. Could it be that this life was really different from the previous one, that she couldn't see NightKing at this time?
Eileen was getting a little impatient. She looked at the three kidnappers in the corner who were like corpses, and the only conscious driver, asked, "Are you hungry?"
The driver looked at her fearfully, shaking and said timidly, "I've told you everything. I even told you who hired us to kidnap you. What else do you want?"
Eileen touched her belly, "I'm asking if you're hungry." The driver shook his head in fear.
Eileen said, "I'm hungry, do you have any food in your car? You're kidnappers, so you must have prepared food for a few days. Bring it here." The driver didn't dare to move with his head down.
Eileen kicked over a petrol can next to her and shouted, "Go!"
The driver immediately stood up and ran out in fear. After a while, the driver returned with a bag of food. But as soon as he entered, there was a loud bang. A bullet had hit the factory door.
The driver screamed in fear. The bullet had just missed him by a few inches. It could have hit him! He ran in panic, clutching the food and hiding behind Eileen!
Eileen glanced at the driver. At this moment, the factory door was forcefully kicked open. She sat on an empty oil drum, swinging her legs casually and staring at the group of people walking in.
Finally, they arrived. The people who walked in were all armed. Most of them were familiar faces, and the one at the back was an old friend. They were her classmates and teachers.
Eileen's eyes met NightKing's grey ones.
NightKing in the crowd raised an eyebrow, looking a bit surprised as he looked at Eileen, "Is that you?"
Eileen jumped off the oil drum and spread her hands, "Yes, it's me."
NightKing turned to the rest of the factory and asked coldly, "Where's Silent Wing?"
Silent Wing? Who was Silent Wing?
Eileen blinked, not answering.
NightKing squinted at Eileen and said, "We're old friends. Tell Silent Wing from your Moonlight Raptors Team 1 to come out and talk." Moonlight Raptors Team 1?
Eileen didn't understand what NightKing was talking about. Was Moonlight Raptors Team 1 a newly established terrorist organization? She didn't seem to have heard of it in her past life.
While Eileen was puzzled, NightKing turned towards the air and said, "Silent Wing, come out."
Eileen waved her hand and said, "You..."
"Egbert, come out!" NightKing shouted. From NôvelDrama.Org.
Eileen was taken aback. Egbert? Why did he suddenly bring up Egbert?
Eileen immediately turned her head, looking around. Did Egbert come? Where was he? She didn't see him! It was silent around her, no sound. Then, NightKing looked at Eileen again, sneered and said, "Does Egbert really like hiding behind women? Or was he scared when I shot him?" At that moment, Eileen raised her head. She stared seriously at NightKing, no longer caring about why Egbert was the so-called Silent Wing. She just looked into NightKing's eyes, and after a while, she slowly asked, "You said you shot Egbert?"
NightKing looked at Eileen, and walked towards her step by step.
Until they were only a step apart, the tall man finally lowered his eyes. His grey eyes were full of coldness. He said in a low voice, "Call him out." Eileen took a deep breath. She lowered her eyes, licked her lips, and muttered to herself, "I'm so stupid, considering the teacher-student relationship. It seems I was too naive."
With that, she laughed coldly and raised her eyes, lifting her right hand. There was a clenched fist! Without a word, Eileen threw a punch straight at NightKing's face.
NightKing stepped back to avoid the attack. He moved his neck and lazily warned her, "Ms. Lopez, don't take my tolerance as indulgence." "Have you ever indulged me?" Eileen laughed, "Don't think too highly of yourself!" With that, Eileen moved in again. Each punch was fierce, aiming at NightKing's vitals!
All hell was breaking loose in the spacious, abandoned factory, where a guy and a gal were going at it hammer and tongs! They were weaving and ducking among rusty oil barrels and corroded large-scale equipment. The henchmen of Bloodbane Shadowsociety had put down their guns for now.
A few of Eileen's past-life classmates gathered and started chatting in a foreign language, "Who is this woman? She fights like our boss, doesn't she?"
"And their fighting style's the same. Is she our boss's long-lost daughter from Crestonia?"
"What do you mean biological daughter? Our boss can't possibly have a grown-up daughter. You're talking out of your hat. She's obviously adopted!" "What were they yakking about just now? They were speaking in Crestonian, I couldn't catch a word."
"I got it. They said the boss spoils his daughter rotten, and she's throwing a tantrum?"
"Was it really a tantrum? It looks to me like the boss was getting his butt kicked by his daughter."
"Bullshit, how can our boss lose to a young chick."
Just then, the two fighters paused. From a distance, the spectators saw a slash of blood on their boss's cheek. And the girl opposite him was untouched.
The boss actually lost!
The members of Bloodbane Shadowsociety couldn't believe their eyes; one of them said, "The boss must have gone easy on her!"
Another asked, "So, are they done fighting now?"
"Seems like it."
A beat later, the two fighters, who'd taken a breather, started going at it like cats and dogs again!
"No way."
Suddenly, a loud bang came from behind them. Everyone turned their heads to see that the factory's iron gate had been blown off its hinges. The members of Bloodbane Shadowsociety quickly rallied.
Soon after, someone shouted, "It's the Crestonia military! Armed forces!"
NightKing heard the sound and took a step back, staring at the girl who was pressing hard against him, and said solemnly, "So, you were just playing for time."
"Cut the crap!" Eileen also heard the explosion outside, but she didn't pay it any mind and charged forward again.
NightKing suddenly pulled out a gun and aimed it at Eileen. Forced to stop, Eileen slowly reached behind her, intending to grab her own gun. At the same time, she stared coldly at NightKing.
At the gate, the members of Bloodbane Shadowsociety had already started a firefight with the troops outside.
Someone shouted, "Boss, they outnumber us!"
NightKing gritted his teeth and backed off, saying, "Retreat."
As he said this, the members of Bloodbane Shadowsociety started to evacuate from the other side. NightKing still had his gun pointed at Eileen. He was convinced that Eileen was with the military.
She just stared at NightKing. After a while, she said, "If you're going to shoot me again, please don't aim for my legs. It doesn't look good wearing a skirt with four bullet scars.
"1
NightKing frowned, "What?"
Taking advantage of his momentary hesitation, Eileen quickly drew her gun and fired a shot at NightKing's wrist.
NightKing also aimed his gun at Eileen's forehead, and at the same time, the bullet flew out. Eileen reacted quickly. She sidestepped, although the bullet might graze her cheek, she could dodge this shot.
But what happened next was totally unexpected. A shadowy figure, like a phantom, suddenly slid down from above. Before Eileen could react, her body was pulled into a man's arms.
Her eyes widened. The bullet that NightKing had fired was embedded in the back of the man holding her. For a moment, Eileen felt her heart almost stop. After firing a shot, NightKing, clutching his injured wrist, quickly retreated.
Eileen stood there, rooted to the spot. Her nose picked up the familiar smell of a man, while gunfire echoed in the distance.
Eileen's vision blurred. She slowly lifted her head, and her beautiful eyes met the man's intense gaze.
"Egbert." She murmured.
Suddenly, his eyelids drooped, and his body leaned forward. Eileen immediately held him steady, and her eyes filled with fear, "Egbert!"
Eileen clung to Egbert in panic, and her trembling hands were reaching for his back.
No, this couldn't be!
Egbert couldn't get hurt. Eileen frantically searched around. She searched for a long time, but found nothing.
Eileen was bewildered. She didn't feel any blood, nor any bullets.
Eileen tiptoed, still holding him, trying hard to see his back. Then she saw his bulletproof vest was intact. The place where the bullet had hit didn't even have a speck of dust.
"Now, are you scared?" Egbert's deep voice echoed in her ears.
Eileen just stared at him.
Egbert stepped back, and removed the protective mask from his face. A handsome face, pale and tired, was revealed. At this moment, Egbert raised a hand. His gloved finger wiped off the dirt on Eileen's face, then he said solemnly, "Come with me."
An hour later, Eileen was squatting by the side of a gravel road. She was hugging her knees, and her hands were picking at the surface of her shoes.
After talking to the leader, Egbert watched as the military vehicles left, then he walked towards Eileen. He stopped in front of the girl, his tall shadow enveloping the curled up girl.
Eileen timidly looked up at Egbert. Egbert squat down, with one hand lifting the girl's chin and forcing her to look at him. His dark eyes were slightly sinking, and he asked, "Were you kidnapped?"
Eileen quickly nodded.
Egbert then asked, "Was it NightKing?"
Eileen dared not tell the truth. She pouted, without saying a word.
Egbert sighed, saying, "He's off, and you're in hot water. He might come back for revenge anytime."
All Eileen could do was accept the fact that she had been kidnapped by NightKing. She asked nervously, "So what should I do now?" Egbert got up and reached out to her. Eileen immediately grabbed Egbert's hand, trying to stand up. To her surprise, Egbert's arm was bleeding!
"You're hurt!" Eileen jumped up immediately.
Egbert glanced at his arm. It was the old gunshot wound that had injured again. He bit his lip and said, "I'm fine."
"How could you possibly be fine?" Eileen seemed very anxious, "I'll take you to the hospital!"
After saying this, Eileen suddenly realized how could Egbert possibly go to a hospital? She hesitated for a moment, then said, "I know a bit about
medicine. Let's go to my place. Come on!"
Go to her place?
Egbert froze and lightly bit his lip. He wanted to refuse but in the end, he didn't. He got in the car. Two hours later, they were in a small apartment room. Eileen turned on the light and carefully helped Egbert take off his bulletproof vest.
Underneath the bulletproof vest was a military uniform. Eileen saw the words "Moonlight Raptors" carved into it. She squinted her eyes but in the end
didn't say anything.
After helping Egbert down to just a vest, Eileen pulled back the blanket and said to Egbert, "Get on the bed."
Egbert was silent for a moment. He looked at Eileen's bed, hesitated a bit, but eventually pretended to be weak and laid down.
Eileen said again, "Give me your hand."
Egbert handed his hand over, his eyes always focused on the girl in front of him.
Eileen took out a first aid kit, helped Egbert remove the old bandage, and rebandaged it properly.
As she stood up to put away the first aid kit, she looked at Egbert on the bed and said, "Take off your pants as well."
