Defying Fate: The Unstoppable Eileen

Chapter 221

Pants? Egbert blinked, a bit puzzled, as he looked at Eileen.

Eileen was putting a first aid kit into a cab. When she turned back around, she found Egbert staring at her.

Realizing he might have misunderstood, she clarified, "I mean, you look knackered. Take off your pants and take a nap on my bed. I'll wake you up when dinner's ready."

With that, Eileen picked up her phone and turned her back to him, starting to buy groceries online.

She selected some healthy ingredients, planning to cook a meal for Egbert to rejuvenate him.

She then heard the rustling sound of Egbert taking off his pants. But she was a decent person, and she won't peep!

When the noise stopped, she put down her phone and turned around.

To her surprise, Egbert was lying on her bed with his toned, smooth legs bare on her sheets.

Speechless, she walked over, grabbed the blanket, and threw it over his head!

Egbert chuckled, removing the blanket and asked with a puzzled look, "What's that for?"

Annoyed, Eileen responded, "So you don't catch a cold!"

She then stared at him for a moment before saying, "Wait a sec."

She went into the bathroom and came out with a wet towel.

"Give me your hand," she told Egbert.

Egbert extended his hand and let her wipe it clean.

"The other one," she directed.

Once both hands were clean, she went back to the bathroom to rinse the towel. Coming back out, she commanded, "Your face." Egbert hesitated slightly.

Eileen already moved in close, holding the back of his head with one hand and rubbing his face hard with the towel!

Egbert didn't say a word.

He was slightly amused by her rough treatment, pulling her hand away and asked softly, "What's wrong?"

Eileen withdrew her hand, "It's nothing! Get some rest, you look really tired!"

Egbert chuckled lightly, patting the spot next to him on the bed, "Sit with me a while, okay?"

"No!" Eileen snapped and stormed into the bathroom, not coming out for a long while.

When she finally emerged, Egbert was already asleep, worn out.

Sighed, she tip-toed over.

The small apartment was cramped, the couch right next to the bed.

Eileen gingerly sat down on the couch, her gaze wandering around before finally landing on Egbert's face.

The man's breathing was long and steady, exhaustion etched onto his face.

Her eyes then wandered over to the military uniform on the other side of the room, her gaze lingering on the words "Moonlight Raptors". So he really was a soldier?

Half an hour later, the delivery guy arrived with the groceries.

She accepted the ingredients and carefully went into the kitchen. During the cooking, she even closed the door, so as not to disturb Egbert. Two hours later, the room was filled with the aroma of food.

Eileen held a plate of food in her hand. As she opened the kitchen door, she saw that Egbert was awake.

He was lounging against the headboard, his phone in hand, texting.

He looked up when he heard the door open.

Eileen put the plate on the small round table, casually saying, "Dinner's almost ready."

Then, she went back into the kitchen to serve the soup.

When she turned around with the soup, Egbert was already standing in the kitchen doorway.

He had put his pants back on and was reaching out to take the bowl from her.

Instinctively, Eileen pulled her hand back, frowning, "What are you doing?"

Egbert quirked an eyebrow, naturally replying, "Thought I'd help you bring out the food"

Eileen was immediately displeased, "You think you can handle the heavy lifting? You're a patient. You should be sitting outside, don't get in the way!"

Egbert's eyes showed a hint of helplessness, he gently said, "Really, I'm fine."NôvelDrama.Org copyrighted © content.

Eileen responded loudly, "I don't care if you're fine! I'm your doctor, you going to ignore me? Are you trying to revolt, Egbert?"

Seeing her so serious, Egbert softened, gently replying, "I'm sorry, doctor."

Eileen prepared three dishes and a soup, two dishes and the soup were for him, the last dish was for herself.

She even put the lobster she made for herself right in front of her.

On the same small dining table, they each enjoyed their own food.

Egbert was eating his light meal in small bites.

Eileen, on the other hand, was chowing down on her lobster!

After the meal, Eileen got up to clear the table, telling Egbert, "I'll take you home after I wash the dishes."

Egbert blinked, looking at her.

She had already carried the dishes into the kitchen.

Soon, the sound of running water came from the kitchen. Egbert pursed his lips, staring at Eileen's slim figure in the kitchen, deep in thought.

A while later, Eileen finished washing the dishes.

When she came out, she found Egbert leaning against the back of the couch, looking at the ceiling, obviously very tired.

"What's wrong?" Eileen was surprised and quickly went over to ask.

Egbert replied, "I'm fine."

Eileen sat next to him, feeling his forehead.

After a moment, she said, "Seems like nothing's wrong."

Egbert gently held her hand, forcing himself to say, "I'm fine."

"Don't move," Eileen told him.

She turned his face and touched his neck, mumbling, "no fever... do you feel nauseous?"

Egbert nodded slightly, "A little."

Eileen asked, "Do you also have a headache?"

Egbert gave a noncommittal grunt.

"Feeling dizzy, are you?" Eileen asked again.

Egbert pondered for a bit before replying, "A bit."

"Alright, gotcha." Eileen mulled it over, then said, "You should rest a bit longer, no rush to head home."

Egbert slowly turned towards her. "Sorry for the trouble," he said weakly.

Eileen responded gently, "No sweat, take a breather. I'll get you some water."

With that, she got up and, phone in hand, headed for the kitchen.

About ten seconds later, Egbert's phone rang.

He picked up the phone, glanced at the caller ID, answered the call, and said, "Dad."

A tirade from his father came through the phone, "Egbert, are you faking it so you can stay at Eileen's? Your acting sucks, she saw right through you! Get your ass home!"

Egbert was speechless.

Stone-faced, he put down the phone and looked at the girl in the kitchen who was pouring water.

He hadn't expected that, even before they're married, she had already started spilling his beans to his dad.
