A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 895: Inconvenient

Silence spread.

Ranita felt her heart churn, her empty stomach making her nauseous.

Probably because she didn’t hear a response, Shannon sobbed and asked, “Brendon, why aren’t you saying anything?”Copyright by Nôv/elDrama.Org.

“Is it because Ranita is there, and it’s inconvenient for you to speak?”

Ranita tightened her grip on the phone and couldn’t help but roll her eyes.

If she hadn’t heard Shannon’s earlier words, she might have misunderstood this one. What did she mean by inconvenient to speak?!

“Miss Murphy, this is Ranita! Brendon is driving, so it’s not convenient for him to talk. I’ll relay your message to him.”

Pausing for a moment, Ranita added teasingly, “Miss Murphy, do you have anything else to say? I can pass it all along.”

There was silence on Shannon’s end for a few seconds.

“Ranita… are you the one answering the phone?” Shannon’s voice initially sounded gritted but soon calmed down. She said, “Ranita, could you please let Brendon take the call? It would be better if I spoke to him directly.”

“What if I say no?” Ranita leaned back slightly, resting her head against the car seat, her voice cold.

“Ranita…” Shannon continued to play the victim, “This is Brendon’s phone. Could you please give it to him?”

“Oh… this is my boyfriend’s phone. I don’t think there’s any issue with me answering it, right?” Ranita smiled faintly. “Miss Murphy, since you’re injured, you should rest well!”

Ranita couldn’t be bothered to waste more words and hung up the phone directly.

She was in a bad mood.

Shannon’s relentless pestering was truly annoying.

“What happened?” Brendon noticed her sullen face and handed her a bottle of water. “Did she say something that upset you?”

Ranita looked at Brendon angrily and mimicked Shannon’s tone in a whiny voice: “Brendon, didn’t you say you still consider me a friend, like a sister? Are you ignoring me because of Ranita? How can you be so heartless… I know I made mistakes before, but I didn’t mean to. Everything I did was for you. Now I don’t ask for anything else, just to get along with you like before…”

As soon as Ranita finished mimicking, Brendon burst into laughter.

“You imitated her quite well!” Brendon glanced at her sideways. “Very impressive.”

What’s so impressive about that!

Ranita pouted and glared at him. “Impressive? You should listen to what Shannon said!”

“It really gave me goosebumps.”

The restaurant Brendon chose was nearby, and fortunately, it wasn’t peak time yet, so there were still seats available.

Holding her hand, he led her inside and said, “She’s always talked like that since she was young, so don’t take it to heart.”

Enough, talking about it more would only ruin her mood.

Ranita changed the subject. “When do we need to go to the Cultural Museum? I need to arrange things with Ayaan.”

“I need to coordinate the timing on my end. I’ll arrange the flight when it’s set! Just wait for my notification.”

“Alright!” Mentioning work, Ranita pulled out the information on her phone. This project had a large workload, and she needed some time.

Brendon wasn’t pleased with that. He offered a piece of cut steak to Ranita’s mouth. “Ranita, can you stop looking at that?”

“Just a moment!” Ranita was at a crucial part of the document and took a bite without looking up. The next second, her phone was snatched away.

Brendon glanced sideways at her and pointed to his face. “I’m so good-looking, and you don’t even look at me twice?”
