A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 896: Narcissism

“Such narcissism?”

Ranita looked up at him, her gaze meeting Brendon’s eyes filled with sparkling light. Every feature of his-brows, eyes, nose, mouth-was perfect, and together they were even more dazzling.

Ranita couldn’t get enough of looking at him.

“Give me my phone back!” Ranita reached out her hand. “Stop looking, let’s eat first.”

Brendon saw her eyes crinkle with laughter and handed her the phone. “That’s right! After dinner, will you take me for a walk? I haven’t had a proper tour of Steland since I arrived!”

“There’s nothing much to see in Steland!” Ranita thought for a moment. “And don’t forget, there’s a child waiting for me at home.”

Brendon felt quite disappointed.Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g

“Then let’s go home early and rest!” Brendon said meaningfully, his gaze equally suggestive.

Ranita felt a shiver down her spine from his look.

“Hurry up and eat! It’ll get cold and won’t taste good!” Brendon stuffed a piece of steak into her mouth, making Ranita forget what she wanted to ask. She puffed up her cheeks like a cute hamster.

The atmosphere was quite good initially.

But halfway through the meal, Chole’s voice suddenly came from behind: “Ranita? What are you doing here?”

“Ranita?” Beside Chole was Alexia, who was equally shocked to see Ranita. “Didn’t you say you were going out to discuss a project? Turns out you’re having a dinner date with him?”

“Mom…” Ranita stood up in fright. “Let me explain.”

“Enough! No need to explain, just continue eating!” Alexia glared at Ranita angrily and pulled Chole away. “Let’s go.”

Alexia didn’t even spare Brendon a glance.

“Mom…” Ranita wanted to chase after them but was held back by Brendon. “Ranita… don’t chase them.”

“Your mom is angry right now; talk to her when you get home.”

After a pause, Brendon squeezed her fingers. “Don’t worry, I’m here for you!”

Ranita sighed.

She lost her appetite, and dinner ended hastily.

Brendon drove in silence, knowing Ranita was in a bad mood and wanting to comfort her but not knowing how.

Brendon really hadn’t expected the Bowman family to dislike him.

“Ranita…” The car stopped, but it wasn’t in front of the Bowman’s Mansion; it was at his place.

Ranita was momentarily confused. “Why did you bring me here?”

“I…” Before he could finish, Brendon leaned over and kissed her. The cool fragrance overwhelmed her senses, and his slightly cold lips quickly warmed up with his breath, becoming soft and sweet.

The tender kiss ended.

Brendon unbuckled her seatbelt, led her inside, poured her a cup of coffee, and fed it to her while holding her in his arms.

“Feeling better now?”

The hot coffee with sweet sugar cubes tasted sweeter than usual and made Ranita feel warm inside.

“Yes… a bit better.” Ranita draped her arms around his neck. “My mom doesn’t actually dislike you; she’s just worried about me.”

Brendon pinched her cheek. “I know.”

“Ouch!” Ranita gently slapped his hand. “My face is all red from your pinching.” Her voice was soft, with a hint of coquettishness that made Brendon’s heart itch.

Brendon moved closer to look at Ranita, their noses touching.

The air conditioning made their skin cool, and when they touched, it felt like two snowflakes rubbing together but strangely sparking a fire.

“What are you doing…” Ranita tried to pull back a little but found her lower back pressed against him.
