Chapter 894: Survival Instinct

Brendon immediately shook his head, saying with a strong survival instinct, “I didn’t! Didn’t you see how startled I was?”Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.

“Really! I didn’t even glance at her just now!” Brendon said earnestly, holding her waist and pulling her into his arms. “I just contacted her assistant, who said they would be here soon.”

As he was speaking, Cindy came running over.

Seeing Brendon, she looked excited, but upon noticing Ranita, she immediately shot her a resentful glance.

“Mr. Stuart, is Shannon alright? Thank you for taking care of her!” Although Shannon was no longer in the entertainment industry, Cindy had been with her for many years and knew a lot about her. Naturally, Shannon kept her close.

“She’s inside! It’s all thanks to Ranita. If you want to thank someone, thank Ranita.” Brendon nodded. “Since you’re here, we’ll be leaving now.”

“Also, the expenses have been settled. If there are any additional costs, just send me the bill.”

After saying that, Brendon pulled Ranita away.

Once in the car, Ranita asked him, “We’re just leaving like this? Aren’t you going to say something to Shannon?”

“Say what?” Brendon leaned over to help her fasten her seatbelt. “Aren’t you hungry?”

“Starving!” Because of Shannon, they hadn’t eaten much lunch and had been busy taking her to the hospital. It was almost dinner time now!

Brendon smiled and said, “I’ll take you to eat.”

Just then, his phone rang.

The name ‘Shannon’ flashed on the screen. Ranita said irritably, “Look, she’s calling already!”

Brendon tossed the phone to her. “I’m driving; it’s not convenient for me to answer.”

“Are you using me as a shield?” Ranita gritted her teeth, feeling a tightness in her chest. Couldn’t he handle this troublesome ex-girlfriend himself?

Brendon continued driving. The dim light in the parking lot cast shadows on his face, making his features appear cold and indifferent. He said, “If it were any other woman seeing someone harass her boyfriend, she would have fought back immediately. Why are you so calm?”

“Hmph!” Ranita felt uneasy.

Because that person was Shannon!

Ranita didn’t know what position she held in Brendon’s heart…

The phone kept ringing in the confined space of the car, making it very annoying. Ranita didn’t move, holding the phone and looking at Brendon.

Brendon sighed and said, “Really not going to answer?”

Seeing that Brendon was about to take the phone back, Ranita slapped his hand away and gritted her teeth. “I’ll do it!”

“But don’t feel sorry.”

Brendon reached out and patted her head. “What nonsense! Just answer the call!”

Ranita felt anxious but finally put the phone to her ear. Immediately, Shannon’s soft voice came through the receiver: “Brendon, why did you take so long to answer?”

“Have you already left? Why didn’t you tell me?”

Before Ranita could speak, Shannon began to sob softly: “Brendon, didn’t you say you still consider me a friend, like a sister? Are you going to ignore me because of Ranita?”

“Brendon, how can you be so heartless… I know I made mistakes before, but I didn’t mean to. Everything I did was for you. Now I have no other desires; I just want us to get along like we used to. Can’t you even fulfill this small request?”
