Your Guise Is Slipping, Miss Pearl

Chapter 1218

Chapter 1218

No one knew how Jasmine died. When Pearl and Richard got to the hospital, they found Jasmine's body covered with a white sheet. A kid, crying and yelling, stood next to her. This loud sadness was out of place in the usually quiet hospital.

For some reason, it seemed like people had just let the child be. Chester's cries filled the hospital for a long while.

Pearl knew that Chester was in pain after losing his mother. She tried to comfort him by touching his hair gently, but he pushed her away angrily.

"It's all because of you! My mom wouldn't have died if it weren't for you!"

Chester didn't really know what had happened; he just knew things got bad after Pearl visited their home, and then his mom was gone. His mom seemed scared of Pearl, making Chester sure Pearl was to blame, directly or not, for his mom's death.

This made Chester really hate Pearl. "You're mean. I don't get why you had to come to mess up our lives. My mom didn't even want to be near you, but you wouldn't leave us alone. Why?"

Pearl found it hard to speak. She couldn't get mad at Chester, especially since he looked so much like Richard. She knew arguing wouldn't help, and the most important thing was to figure out who was really behind Jasmine's death.

"Don't worry. I'll find out who did this to your mom," was all Pearl could say to try and make him feel better.

Chester was having none of it. He screamed, "Isn't it obvious who killed my mom? It's you! You're the bad guy!"

Then he pushed Pearl and tried to run away, but Richard caught him, hugging him tight.

"I get you're upset about losing your mom," Richard said, trying to stay calm. "But it's not okay to just blame anyone. You've got to be strong and fair."NôvelDrama.Org holds © this.

However, Chester wouldn't listen. He felt alone, with his mom gone and feeling like Pearl and Richard were against him. "I know you're on her side. Both of you are bad guys!"

"Chester!"

Probably because they were family, Richard's words got through to him, and Chester calmed down a bit.

Pearl was relieved. "I'll call Wayne to come over," she said, pulling out her phone. "He can look after Chet for a while."

That seemed like a good idea to Richard, especially since Chester was acting out, and they didn't want him to get hurt.

Sitting on the floor, Chester sobbed, "I won't have a mom anymore. Mom..."

Although he was young, he understood the weight of his loss. Without a father, he now felt completely alone. He was scared of being made fun of even more now, remembering how other kids without parents were bullied at school.

But more than anything, he missed his mom.

Pearl tried to comfort him again, "Don't worry, Chet. I won't let you suffer."

Through his tears, Chester looked up. "I don't need your pity."

"I'm not pitying you. I want to help," Pearl reassured. "Do you know who your dad is?" Chester gently shook his head. "Mom said I never had a dad."
