Chapter 1217
Chapter 1217
Richard couldn't really say anything about the situation, but when Pearl spoke up, he was taken aback. He had a feeling this might happen, but her words still hit him hard.
Quietly, he went over and gently held her shoulders, saying softly, "I'm sorry."
Pearl, feeling a bit uneasy, wasn't mad anymore after his sincere apology. "It's not your fault. You didn't make this happen."
At most, it seemed like he was being manipulated.
"Don't worry, I don't care about him," Richard made clear.
Hearing this final word, Jasmine let out a sigh of relief. Once she calmed down, she tried to get up, a bit shaky.
Pearl reached out to help, but Jasmine politely declined. "Thank you. I didn't expect you to be so kind." Jasmine's eyes filled with tears. She felt a huge relief after years of fear. "If only I knew you were this kind, I wouldn't have spent years being so scared."
Pearl forced a smile and said indifferently, "I just hope you'll keep your word and stay away from Enswood.
Jasmine nodded eagerly. "I promise, you won't see me again."
While they were talking, she quickly took out her phone to book a flight.
Seeing Jasmine in a hurry, Pearl said, "Take your time. I'm not forcing you out right this second."
"No, I must leave as soon as possible." Jasmine rushed to book her flight, as if worried Pearl might change her mind.NôvelDrama.Org © 2024.
Once Jasmine was set on leaving, Pearl and Richard said their goodbyes.
Sitting in the car, Pearl remained quiet for a long time. Richard was quiet too, keeping a straight face. They hadn't done anything wrong, yet there was this heavy silence between them, as if they were separated by a huge wall.
Finally, Pearl broke the silence by asking, "What do you think about all this?"
Richard looked at her seriously and repeated his promise, "I told you, I don't have feelings for that kid. Your child is the only one I care about."
Naturally, Pearl knew where Richard stood. But she couldn't help feeling upset, remembering that Chester resembled Richard, and they shared the same blood. She could only comfort herself that the child was innocent and there was nothing she could do about it.
Seeing her troubled, Richard seemed to have an idea. "If this really bothers you, I can—"
Pearl quickly stopped him, "No, absolutely not."
Richard dropped the subject and hugged her, trying to offer some comfort. "Let's just pretend he never existed, okay?"
"Okay."
Pearl leaned into his embrace, but then her phone rang. Her expression changed when she answered. "Jasmine is dead!"
