Chapter 311
Chapter 311
"Thank you, Hendric."
Coralie put Hendric on the child's seat that the waiter brought.
"Attaboy."
Skylar seemed to be very satisfied with his son.
When he was ordering the dishes, Skylar picked a set of fish and chips and pork chops specially for
Hendric.
Coralie sat aside and watched as the man skillfully ordered the dishes. With everything done, he had
not even forgotten to ask for a set of children's tableware for Hendric.
Skylar learned the skills when he took care of Hendric by himself in the past.
A president, a man who didn't even need to open the car door on his own, was being so thoughtful of
Hendric. Coralie was a little moved.
After Skylar finished ordering the dishes, he saw that Coralie was looking at him with a smile. He
returned the smile and asked her, "What's wrong?"
"I feel like I've found myself a treasure."
Coralie said; the smile hadn't left her face.
Hendric didn't know that Coralie was talking about Skylar. He thought that Coralie was speaking about
him, so he immediately said proudly, "Am I a treasure?"
Coralie was stunned by Hendric's words, but she immediately broke into laughter and said, "Of
course."
Halfway throughout the meal, Skylar's phone rang.
He only responded with a string of "yes" after he picked up the phone. It was only after that that he was
heard saying, "I got it. I'll definitely go."
He then hung up the phone.
As Skylar had said "I will definitely go" when he was on the phone, Coralie was a little surprised.
"Where are you going?"
"Auntie's daughter is getting engaged. They want me to go."
"Auntie's daughter?" Coralie rummaged through Skylar relatives in her mind. She looked nervously at
Skylar and asked, "Don't tell me it's Jamie?"
"Yeap."
Skylar was not surprised that Coralie knew about Jamie.
However, Skylar was also aware that Jamie liked Wayne.
"Oh, okay..." Coralie replied.
When Skylar saw that Coralie was slightly disappointed, he said, "Does your brother like Jamie?"
"Uhm, he..."
Coralie did not know what to say at the moment.
Wayne did like Jamie, but there was a huge difference between the Chariott family and George family.
Coralie couldn't ask Skylar to give Wayne a green light, could she?
If things went this way, Wayne would not be able to live upright in the George family in the future.
"Do you need me to chime in?"
Skylar had guessed what Coralie was thinking.
"No, love is a personal pursuit. Others can only do a small favor to help, but he still needs to make the
big decision by himself."
Coralie said with certainty.
Someone else snatched the opportunity away because Wayne was always dawdling.
However, Coralie also understood him. At that time, Wayne was just an ordinary college student and an
employee in the bank. How could he tell the George family that he was going to marry Jamie?
"Well, just tell me if you need my help. I think Wayne is not bad."
Skylar had also stated his stance.
"Oh right, when is Jamie's engagement ceremony?" Coralie asked.
"In two months. It'll be in January," Skylar answered.
"Why is it so late?"
Coralie felt that it was too early for them to announce the wedding banquet which was supposed to be
held in January, in November.
"She said I'm a busy man, so she called me in advance."
After all, Queenie didn't know about Skylar's leg injury.
That night.
Skylar sent Hendric home in his car. When Coralie carried Hendric upstairs, Wayne was also at home.
"Wayne?"
As soon as Coralie entered the room, she was barraged with the smell of wine throughout the house.
She followed the smell to the bathroom and saw that Wayne was drunk and he was vomiting in the
toilet.
Hera, with her face in distress, held a glass of water beside Wayne. "Wayne, what's wrong with you?
Your company is too outrageous. How can they force others to drink like this?"
Hera thought that his company was the reason for Wayne to be drunk like this.
Coralie, however, guessed what was going on with Wayne. She called Skylar and told him to wait a
little longer.
"Coralie." Wayne vomited for a long time before he sat up and said, "I feel so awful." Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.
"You know that it'll be awful, but you still drink it?" Coralie said.
"But I felt even worse when I didn't drink."
Wayne stood up unsteadily and rinsed his mouth with water.
"Wayne, Jamie is getting engaged in January." Coralie stood behind Wayne and told him the news.
"Oh."
Wayne had no expression on his face.
In his opinion, this relationship had been completely dead, and knowing about the engagement was
just adding to his sadness.
"You."
Coralie felt that if Jamie was about to get engaged, Wayne might have to give up.
She helped Wayne back to his room.
Wayne laid in bed and felt terrible. After Coralie took off his shoes, she turned back and saw that
Wayne's computer was on and a Twitter page was displayed on it.
As soon as Coralie saw the profile picture, she knew that it was Jamie's page.
Coralie scrolled through Jamie's Twitter and found that Jamie's habit of keeping a diary on social media
was out of her character.
Jamie's Twitter was quite sentimental. Although she was only recording the trivial things in her life, she
would also describe her feelings.
For example...
"It's the first snow today and it's freezing cold. Fortunately, I bought a down jacket. Isn't it beautiful?"
"11.11 is coming. There is nothing else to do except for retail therapy. Being single for 26 years, I'm
indomitable now."
She randomly looked through Jamie's Twitter and kept her user ID in mind. Thinking that Skylar was
still waiting downstairs, she notified Hera before she left.
Coralie went downstairs, sat in Skylar's car, and began to search for Jamie's Twitter.
Along the way, Skylar watched as Coralie scrolled through Twitter, "Since when did you pick up this
hobby?"
Coralie used to take care of Hendric on her own. Later, she attended classes every day in S Country,
so time was basically a precious commodity to her. She had no time for Twitter and social media.
"This is your cousin's account. My brother looks at it every day. It wouldn't hurt for me to look at it."
Coralie did not find anything out of the ordinary by that.
"She still uses Twitter?"
Skylar knew Jamie the best. She was a boisterous and carefree girl. Why would she remember to
frequently post on her Twitter account?
If Jamie posted on Twitter, it would probably be some funny stuff or memes. That would be all.
"I know right. I think her Twitter character is quite different from what she's usually like."
Coralie handed her phone to Skylar. It was showing Jamie's Twitter page.
Skylar also casually went through a few of the posts. Although the sentences used were quite similar to
Jamie's usual punchlines, there was a vast difference in terms of her style, especially the emotions.
Even he couldn't help but say, "You just can't square the Internet with reality."
"Well, I just wanted to see if she has written anything about Wayne."
Coralie felt that if a girl was fond of writing on Twitter, she would pen some things about her feelings.
However, she couldn't find a single word after scrolling the page for a long time.
Jamie's Twitter had been in use since she was a fourth-year undergraduate student. She had been
posting stuff from the time she studied abroad and when she returned to Skyton Corporation. Someone
who often looked at Jamie's Twitter account would know her movements off the top of their head.
"I think we should give them a chance to talk to each other."
Ever since Jamie was in her fourth year, she had been frequenting Skylar's place. She had been
mentioning Wayne for not fewer than a hundred times. Whenever she spoke, it was as clear as day
that she liked Wayne.
Now that Jamie had agreed to the marriage arranged by her family, Skylar felt that she was not being
herself.
