Chapter 970 His Girlfriend
Verda frowned, “Really? You, a grown man, are afraid that I’ll eat you?”
“Not afraid, I have a friend coming with me.” He motioned towards Sacha.
Following his gesture, Verda looked in Sacha’s direction, seeing her standing not far away. Sacha, being cute and pregnant, was dressed loosely, accentuating her delicate features.
Verda’s gaze suddenly changed.
Rejecting herself, and with another girl?
She scrutinized Sacha from head to toe, her appearance was not bad, but she lacked sex appeal. “Do you like women who lack femininity like her?”
Xander, “…”
What is this woman saying?
“Your friend is calling you, you should go.” Xander said.
Verda moved her lips, wanting to say something, but had nothing to say.
She defiantly walked towards her yacht, her friend already on board, waving at her, “Come on up.”
Verda climbed aboard.
She glanced back at Xander, an inexplicable look in her eyes.
On the shore, Xander settled the payment with the rental staff, handed him the number plate, then walked towards Sacha.
“Where’s Evan?”
It was just her standing here earlier.
“He’s in the restroom.”
Xander nodded, “I’ve settled, let’s wait for him.”
“Okay.” Sacha remembered Verda, asking, “Who was that girl you were talking to just now?”
Xander said, “Acquaintance.”
On the deck, Xander watched Xander and Sacha chatting.
She couldn’t hear what they were saying, but from her perspective, they seemed quite intimate.
“Oh, we’re here to celebrate your birthday, why are you so aloof?” Her friend pulled Verda into the cabin.
Balloons, lights, cake, champagne…
Her friends gave Verda a birthday hat, “Today is your birthday, we prepared some gifts for you.”
These girls are all from wealthy families.
They are also Verda’s close friends.
They are rich and know how to have fun.
In the past, Verda would have partied enthusiastically, but today she was less interested.
“What’s wrong, lost in thought?” Her friend teased, “Could it be that you’ve set your sights on someone? The guy you were talking to on the shore just now is quite handsome.”
Verda also thought Xander was decent looking, looking at her friend, “Handsome?”
“Very handsome. Handsomer than the guy whose family makes pots.” Someone had introduced Verda to a blind date prospect, whose family business was in pottery.
A well-known brand, wealthy family, good looking guy, and the family tried to arrange a match with Verda.
But Verda disagreed.
Her family nagged at Verda for a long time, with even her father angry enough to sever ties with her.
But that was just an empty threat.
Verda is an only child, how could ties be severed.Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org exclusive © material.
Verda felt inexplicably smug.
She didn’t even know what she was proud of.
…
Meanwhile, Xander’s yacht sailed out.
This commercial yacht had everything.
Renting it wasn’t cheap, so the interior was luxurious.
They stood on the bow, facing the sea breeze, inhaling the scent of the ocean, feeling at ease.
“I suddenly feel like eating calamari.” Sacha said.
Evan, “…”
Xander mocked, “Here we are on the sea, and all you can think of is squid? Can’t you think of something rare, something not commonly found onshore?”
Sacha helplessly said, “I wish, but I can’t control it.”
Evan warned, “Eat, but not too much.”
Sacha asked, “Why?”
“The doctor said seafood is cold-natured, and as a pregnant woman, you should eat less.” Evan remembered the doctor’s advice religiously, caring for every detail of Sacha’s diet and well-being.
Sacha cuddled up to him.
Xander, “…”
He played hard-to-get, the sea breeze blowing his hair back, teasing, “You two are unbearable.”
Evan and Sacha exchanged a smile.
Gu Aiping mischievously looked at her, “Feeling stressed? If so, find a partner quickly. You still have time now.”
Xander asked, “What do you mean?”
“If Star marries Kai, they’ll be ‘relatives’. If you get married now, have a daughter, you can marry your boss’s son.”
“What opportunity?” Xander blinked.
“If you have a daughter, she could marry Morton, right?”
Sacha rolled her eyes, “I’m her aunt.”
She’d rather be an aunt than a mother-in-law.
Xander said, “You sure know how to calculate, even if you are an aunt.”
Sacha rolled her eyes, “I am an aunt, what do you mean by ‘know how to calculate’?”
“Okay, okay. You’re an aunt.”
Xander gazed out at the endless sea, feeling a sense of insignificance.
Sacha squeezed Evan’s arm, “I want some fruits.”
Evan said, “I’ll get them.”
There was a refrigerator, liquor, bedroom, and fresh fruits in the cabin.
Once Evan went inside, only Xander and Sacha were left on deck.
The two stood at the railing.
Sacha said, “Aren’t I lucky?”
Xander nodded.
Yes.
Sacha was very lucky.
Although abandoned by her biological parents, she found good foster parents who loved her as much as her biological parents might have. Some biological parents might not even achieve such care.
Even Elijah, the boss with a stubborn personality, accepted this completely unrelated sister.
How lucky she was?
Their yacht slowed down, drifting on the sea.
Another boat floated nearby.
The cabin was in a party mode, with Verda’s friends preparing birthday gifts in the form of muscular men with good looks.
Verda’s friends were dressed provocatively, holding wine glasses, dancing under flickering lights, partying hard.
Outside was daytime, inside was evening.
Verda had too much to drink, swaying out of the cabin for some fresh air.
She stood on the deck, holding onto the railing, feeling the sea breeze.
Slightly sober now, she caught a glimpse of Xander.
Rubbing her eyes, she saw Xander on the opposite yacht, with that girl.
“Hey.”
She called out.
But the sea breeze was too strong, her voice was swept away, and Xander didn’t hear it.
He told Sacha, “You’ve been in the wind too long. Maia, go inside.”
The sea breeze was chilly.
“Xander…”
Verda called out to him.
This time, Xander heard her, he turned to see Verda on the other yacht.
Even though they were far apart, Xander waved to her in acknowledgment before going inside.
Verda was curious about the girl with Xander, wondering if she was his girlfriend.
