Chapter 87 Only a ten Percent Chance
Kristen was confused. A cardiac surgery?
“Does Ethan need surgery?”
“Auntie, why did you refuse him?”
Heloise shrugged helplessly. “It’s just a simple surgery. There’s no need for me to do it. It’s not challenging at all.”
What she needed to do was to treat all kinds of difficult and complicated diseases in the world. The more challenging it was, the better. What Ethan had just described seemed like a minor surgery to her.
Kristen was a little worried and urgently wanted to know if there was something wrong with Ethan.
Heloise patted her on the shoulder and comforted her, “Kristen, don’t worry. It’s just a minor surgery. Any hospital with strong comprehensive abilities in our country can perform it. It’s not a very difficult surgery.”
Hearing her aunt’s words, Kristen couldn’t say anything more.
“It’s not easy for you to come here. Stay with me for a few more days.”
Heloise was about to call for Agnes to prepare when Kristen stopped her. “Auntie, I came to Saya for something to deal with. I can’t stay with you for too long. I have to go back later.”
Heloise expressed her regret.
Nevertheless, she respected Kristen’s decision. “It doesn’t matter. Go ahead with your work. It won’t be too late to visit me when you’re free.”
Kristen had lunch with Heloise and left.
As soon as she returned to the villa, the servants told her.
“Mr. Wharton is back. He’s on the third floor.”
Kristen nodded. “I see. I’ll be right there.”
After that, she went upstairs. She walked all the way to the door of the room at the end of the corridor. She hesitated for a moment before slowly pushing the door open. When she saw Ethan’s back facing the French window, she hurried over.
“Welcome back.”
Ethan was slightly stunned. He instantly restrained his emotions, turned around, and looked at her.
“Where did you go?”
Kristen walked up to him and said, “I’m going out for a walk. What about you?”
Ethan didn’t speak, which made Kristen a little worried. She hesitated for a moment and asked, “Ethan, are you feeling well? Shall we go to the hospital to see the doctor?”
Surprise flashed through Ethan’s eyes. A faint smile appeared on his lips as he said, “I’m fine. I don’t need to go to the hospital. I was just lost in thought.”
Kristen obviously didn’t believe him. Ethan had found her aunt, which meant that the matter was serious. But if he didn’t tell her, she didn’t know where to start investigating.
“Really? Are you sure you’re fine?”
Ethan replied, “It’s okay. Where do you want to go this afternoon?”
Hearing this, Kristen wondered if he was looking for a doctor for someone else. But who could make him show up in person?
Kristen couldn’t think of an answer. Fortunately, Ethan was fine and she wasn’t worried anymore.
“Let’s go pick mango. There’s a mango forest ahead.” Kristen had seen it when she came back. She grew up in Tornzia and belonged to the north. It was rare for her to see a tropical fruit tree, so she wanted to have a look.
“Okay.”
Hence, Ethan took Kristen to the nearby mango base, where many mango trees were planted. For the first time, Kristen tasted the joy of picking mango.
It wasn’t until the evening that Kristen and Ethan returned home. Each of them was carrying a basket full of freshly picked mango.
However, as soon as they entered the apartment, they saw Xenos sitting on the sofa. Seeing that they were back, he got up and walked toward them.
“Ethan. Kristen.”
Kristen was puzzled. Why did Xenos come to Saya? However, after thinking about it, she guessed that he might have work to do. She took out the mango that she had picked herself and said, “Taste it. It’s really delicious.”
Xenos thanked Kristen, but he had no interest in eating mango. He was only worried about Ethan.
Ethan handed the mango in his hand to the servant next to him and said to Xenos, “Let’s go to the study upstairs.”
Seeing this, Kristen said sensibly, “Go ahead. I will cut mango for you.”
With that, she went to the kitchen with mango.
Kristen placed the plate on the table as she cut the mango. She looked at the stairs as if deep in thought.
Xenos was a doctor, and also the youngest director of City Hospital. By right, his medical skills should be pretty good, but why did Ethan put him aside and go look for Auntie instead?
Could it be that the heart surgery couldn’t even deal with Xenos? That was serious.
Xenos furrowed his brows. “Ethan, your situation is serious. If Doctor M isn’t willing to help, I can only perform the surgery for you myself.”
Ethan merely asked, “What is the success rate?”
Xenos pursed his lips and answered, “Only 10%.”
A ten percent chance of success was akin to making a bet with the heavens, and the chances of losing were too high. Xenos dared not bet with Ethan’s life.
“Ethan, I’ll go find Doctor M again. No matter what, I must ask her to operate on you.”
“No need.” Ethan quickly stopped him.
“Only a ten percent chance of success is okay. You can go arrange for the operation now.”
Ethan’s tone was very calm, as if he was talking about something very normal. Xenos was in a difficult position. He really had no confidence in the operation. If the operation failed, Ethan was very likely to die.
At this moment, Xenos regretted that he couldn’t master his medical skills to resolve this situation.
“Don’t tell Kristen about this. Don’t say a word about it.”
Xenos said, “Ethan, don’t worry. I won’t let her know.”
“OK. You have been on the plane for so long. You should be tired. Go to bed early.”
When they came out of the study, they happened to bump into Kristen, who was walking over with a mango in her hand.
“You’re done with your work. Have a taste of mango.”
At this moment, Xenos had no appetite and was about to decline, but Ethan said, “Mango tastes good, try it.”
Xenos took a bite. The mango was especially sweet under the sunlight.
“Delicious.”
Seeing this, Kristen said, “I heard Saya produces mountain bamboo and phoenix pears. Let’s go take a look tomorrow.”This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.
Ethan rubbed her head affectionately. “Foodie, you really like fruits.”
“I just know a little about the local fruits.”
