"I'll keep our marriage license safe until we get back home," Lysander said as he slipped Thalassa's marriage certificate into his suit pocket. Thalassa's tears turned into laughter. "Are you really worried I might lose it?"
"Of course, it'd be quite the joke if we lost our marriage license right after getting hitched," Lysander replied, his tone full of indulgence. Whenever he spoke to Thalassa, his voice softened, a tenderness unmistakable.
Thalassa felt cherished and recognized how much Lysander valued their union. The slight unease in her heart vanished.
Hand in hand, they stepped out of the city hall into the bright morning sunshine, which enveloped them with its warmth.
Clutching Lysander's arm, Thalassa didn't even realize she was speaking with a hint of coquettishness. "So, where are we off to now?" "Let's catch a movie, I'll check the showtimes," Lysander responded, pulling out his phone, ready to browse through the listings.
He had spent the previous day not only asking his friend Alaric for advice on what typically annoys women but also on activities for dates. He'd never been one for movies, dismissing them as frivolous. Yet, for a date with Thalassa, he was willing to try something new, something he'd previously scoffed at.
Thalassa stayed silent, watching him navigate his phone. Just the idea of watching a movie together thrilled her.
Who said Lysander wasn't romantic? Here he was, planning a movie date.
Lysander picked out a film and handed his phone to Thalassa. "How about this one?"
Before Thalassa could take a closer look, Lysander's phone rang, interrupting with an incoming call alert.
"It's David calling," Thalassa quickly said.
Lysander's brows furrowed slightly, clearly annoyed, as he answered the call with a tone that barely hid his irritation. "What's up?"
Whatever was said on the other side made Lysander's expression darken further, ending the call with a terse, "Got it."
About to speak to Thalassa, he paused when she beat him to it. "Go ahead, you can take care of it. We can always watch the movie tonight."
She knew his startup was in its
crucial phase, and being a weekday, it was likely swamped with work Her understanding and selflessness were both comforting and
heart-wrenching.
"Are you sure?" Lysander asked, ready to prioritize her wishes over work. "If you insist on the movie, I'll postpone my meetings."
"Of course I'm sure. I could use
some rest anyway; woke up too early today and I'm actually feeling sleepy," Thalassa said, punctuating her statement with a yawn to prove her point.
Kind-hearted people often take the burden upon themselves, allowing others to proceed guilt-free with their responsibilities.
Lysander saw through it but chose not to call it out, not wanting to waste Thalassa's goodwill.
He walked her to the car. "Let me drop you off."
Having previously misunderstood Thalassa, leading to unintentional hurt, Lysander now made efforts to understand and accommodate her actions and intentions.
After dropping Thalassa off at Royal Estates, he headed to the office.
It was only after the car had left that Thalassa realized the marriage license was still in Lysander's pocket - he had forgotten to leave it at home!
