Reclaiming My Broken Luna

Chapter 149: Only Daughter

Asha's POV

Though my face remained impassive, inside, I simmered in anger. I couldn't believe that my father would still insist on giving his blood even though Andros and I were willing to go under the needle for him.

My father has grown weak with age. He is not the same strong and powerful man that he was before. The stress of handling a huge Pack has taken its toll on his body.

I'm angry at my father, who still insists on doing this, knowing how this could affect his health. As an Alpha, he has to keep all his strength to himself. With all the tasks he is in charge of, he desperately needs to be in good health all the time.

I moved with practised precision as I prepared the kit that I would be using. My father gave me a steady gaze. He's been staring at me for a long time without saying anything. His stare unnerves me the most because I'm secretly angry at him. "Dad, are you sure about this?" I asked him one last time as I held the needle in one hand after I had prepared everything.

"Asha, your sister is fighting for her life. How could I let her die when I have what it takes to save her life?" My father answered back.

"Dad, you know what will happen if Astrid is not your daughter, right? She would die as soon as your blood makes contact with her," I reasoned out with him.

My father fell silent for a moment. "Asha, you still don't believe that Astrid is your sister, do you?"

I felt guilty as soon as I heard his question. "Dad, for all we know, she could be a fraud. I am an expert in this field, father. Trust me, this doesn't make any sense. How could a weak person like her be your daughter?"

"Then, in that case, the more that we need to continue this," my father replied as he pinned me with his gaze. "If Astrid dies, then she's not your sister, and she gets her punishment of trying to fool us, but if she survives, then you will have no choice but to accept her because she is your sister."

I fell silent at my father's proposition. How could I accept Astrid? My whole life, I was his only daughter. I used to be the only person that my father doted on. Now, there would be the two of us.

"Asha, are you sure you're going to do this? You can let Doctor Smith do this procedure instead." I gazed back at him again after he called my attention with his request.

Doctor Smith? I am the best doctor in the world, and I have already volunteered to do this procedure for him. Does he want Doctor Smith to help him instead?

The reason why I volunteered to do this is because he is my father. No one, not even Doctor Smith, who is the best after me, would be permitted to draw my father's blood. I volunteered to do this because I trusted no one other than myself.

Angered by his words, I stabbed the needle under his skin without permission, making him wince in pain and surprise.

He squinted his eyes and gripped his arm as he held in the pain. "You could have made a mistake!" My dad scolded me.

"I was aiming to do that, but you know that I'm so good at my job that I can't even make a mistake even if I wanted to," I retorted.

My dad only shook his head at my ego. Once his blood started to fill the tubing, we finally moved him to the emergency room where Astrid was.

We placed Dad's bed beside her so we could directly transfuse Dad's blood into Astrid.

We had no time to lose. Astrid needed the blood as soon as possible.

Everyone watched in trepidation as Dad's blood continued to flow, and then... It finally went inside Astrid's vein and mixed with her blood.

There was an eerie silence in the room. All the doctors, the nurses, and my father waited for what was going to happen like Astrid was a ticking time bomb that was about to explode.

I glued my eyes to Astrid's heart monitor as I awaited the changes, but there was nothing.

A full minute had gone... nothing.

I glanced at Astrid's limp body in

shock. She's really my half-sister but how? How could she be a full-blooded omega, yet her blood did not reject my father's strong alpha blood? en FindNovel

Just like me, all the medical staff were in shock, too. There are probably questions in their head, but they had to keep their mouth shut and continue their job.

My eyes finally landed on my father. Our gazes met, and I blinked when I remembered what he told me earlier.

"I, I gotta go," I whispered out and stormed out of the room. As soon as I was clothed with the blinding lights in the hallway, I could finally breathe normal again.

"Asha," I almost jumped in surprise when somebody spoke out of nowhere.

It turns out it was my brother. "It worked, didn't it?" He asked as he stepped nearer towards me.

I looked at my brother without saying a word. I just felt so distraught.

"It's okay, Asha," my brother whispered consolingly as he placed a hand carefully on my shoulder.Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.

"No matter what, you'd still be our father's daughter. I know you are afraid, but we can't be selfish-"

"I'm not being selfish," I blurted out as I glared at my brother. "You don't know how it feels. I feel like my whole life was a lie. Suddenly... I just felt 'm not that valued and special anymore."

"What are you talking about? Look, no matter what, you are still our father's daughter, who raised himself. You are still Asha. Astrid

can never change that," my brother

assured me, but I did not listen to his words.

"You are being too kind, brother. I'm sorry I'm not like you. I'm sorry, I'm not good enough!" I burst out on him and stormed out of the hallway.
