Chapter 653
Chapter 653
Lynette had followed Lucas to Salaria lately, and she understood the significance of the name Jackson Valor! And Jackson Valor… He was her cousin Serenity’s boyfriend!
“Isn’t Serenity an ex–convict? How does she find a boyfriend like that?! And it’s not just Jackson, but..”
Lynette glanced at Lucas beside her. She composed herself and barely managed a smile. “So, it’s Mr. Valor! Serenity, why didn’t you tell us about him the last time you brought him over? Aren’t you a little too shy?”
Aunt Theresa hurriedly added with a smile, “Oh, Serenity. You’re lucky to have Mr. Valor as your boyfriend! I’m sure your Granny Emily will rest in peace knowing this. Francis, Desmond, what are you waiting for? Hurry up and apologize! What you
did last time was too ride!”
Aunt Theresa’s attitude had changed completely, and Uncle Francis and Uncle Desmond looked at each other in response. Uncle Francis and Uncle Desmond then tried to flatter Serenity instead, no longer showing the sheer arrogance they had displayed earlier. They apologized about what they had done and claimed that it had all been for her sake.
Serenity did not feel anything from her uncles‘ apology. She just hoped her relatives would not make an ugly scene and let Granny have a peaceful funeral!
The funeral professionals soon came over, and they prepared Granny Emily’s body and placed her into a clear casket. Seeing Granny Emily sleeping peacefully in the coffin, tears welled up in Serenity’s eyes again.
“Granny!” Serenity cried out. Unfortunately, her Granny would never be able to answer her again.
Jackson held Serenity. He knew Serenity was so grief–stricken that she barely had the strength to stand.
The funeral professionals then transported Emily’s body and coffin to the Walker family home. According to their family custom, they would hold the body in their family home and wait three days before they could cremate the body NôvelDrama.Org © 2024.
The funeral company had arranged everything for the funeral wake and prepared the altar at the Walker family home. The neighbors and relatives in the town had learned about Emily’s passing and gathered together to pay their final respect to Emily.
Serenity took a chair and sat beside Emily’s coffin. She silently looked at her grandmother lying inside the coffin. Whenever someone came to see Emily, Serenity would stand up and bow to the guest.
Serenity did not know how long she had been mourning. Jackson came over with a set of clothes and shoes in his hand. “You should change out of your wedding dress first. It’s inconvenient for you to be wearing this.”
Serenity looked up at Jackson, Jackson had always been thoughtful. He would always silently plan things out for her.
Serenity nodded. Then, she took the clothes and went to the bathroom to change.
Serenity came out after changing, her eyes still swollen and red. Seeing that, Jackson comforted her, “Don’t be too sad. I’m sure your Granny wouldn’t want to see this.”
“Granny She was very nice to me,” Serenity said softly. “When I was here, Granny took good care of me. Granny would buy me the dress I wanted, even though it was so expensive…”
As Serenity was talking, Jackson suddenly interrupted her. “Well, I know how important Granny is to you. I promise you, Serenity. I’ll treat you better in the future, better than anyone else in the world.”
As Jackson spoke, he gave Lucas and Lynette a sidelong glance. They were walling toward them.
Lynette noticed that Serenity had changed out of her wedding dress. She had seen the luxury dress on Serenity in a magazine before. When Lynette enquired about the dress, the sales lady had said that it was a limited edition. Even if she pre–undered it, the dress might not necessarily be available.
