Nine Months Too Late 29
Before twelve, she was out for the meeting.
There were some very big investors in town-known as the Oak investors who were looking to invest in some worthy companies. The interested companies were to meet with them and give them their reasons they should invest with them. Sylvie knew she wouldn't be the only one there, but she hoped her company would get selected. From what she heard, they were going to invest in five companies.Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
The meeting was taking place in a complex. She reached the floor of the meeting and was surprised to find Lana on the hallway. She'd been speaking with some ladies, but the moment she saw Sylvie, she left them to go meet her. Sylvie wasn't expecting to find her there.
"Hey, there. I knew you'd be here. Always needing people's money, huh?" She smiled.
With the way she spoke, a person who wasn't close enough would think they were having a blissful conversation.
"Irs called business and investment for a reason, Lana. Besides, why are you here if you don't here them?"
"Oh," Lana looked around. "Whoever said a company can grow tired of investments, huh?"
Rolling her eyes, Sylvie decided to walk away.
"All the best with your presentation, Sylvie!" Lana said after her.
The meeting commenced in a short while. The Investors - four of them were seated, while representatives from each company sat with them as well. It was a long table.
Each representative came out when it was their turn and spoke of their businesses - how good it was and why they should feel free to invest in them. They also gave them a rough sketch of what the investment could be about.
While speaking on the sketch, it displayed on the projector which they controlled and made reference to.
It got to Sylvie's turn in no time. She was brave and wasn't the type that usually had trouble speaking in public.
With her ever charming smile, she started her presentation, sounding very convincing. She was pleased when she saw three of the investors nodding their heads.
It got to the sketch. She'd prepared it already and had it stored in her hard drive like everyone else. She connected it to the projector and turned to the table, resuming her talk as she expected the images to slide on the screen. She wasn't looking, but she became confused Their faces held shock, they began to mumble.
Sylvie was perplexed. She turned quickly to the projector and almost passed out from what she saw.
What? No way!
Her hand went over her mouth to stifle her scream. Her eyes were widened in panic, her legs threatened to give out to the cold
Boor
What in God's name!?
On the screen were pornographic images. Raw images of people actually in the act.
Her hands trembled. She reached for her laptop and tried switching it to the images she'd prepared, but it wasn't working. She couldn't find any of the images.
No, something wasn't right. She didn't have those pornographic images in her drive. Why couldn't she even find her own images? Was this hers?
Please, wrap it up, Ms. Price, An assistant to the investors said.
120 PM
That was enough to make Sylvie lose her mind
Looking up from the laptop, so many eyes were on her. People shocked, disappointed. The Investors looked at her with disgust. They were older men who didn't condone such act. Oh, God. How could this happen?
Tears gathered in her eyes.
I'm
sorry. I don't know how this got into my system. I was...
"Please, turn it off!" The assistant nearly snapped.
That was when Sylvie realized it was still being displayed on the screen. Her hands shook as she turned it off.
She tried to steady her breath, turning to the investors.
"I really don't know how this happened. I was just...
"Your time is up, Ms. Price," One of the investors cut her off this time around.
Oh, God.
It was all Sylvie could do not to shed the tears that so desperately wanted to spill.
She was closing up her laptop when someone chuckled. When she looked, she discovered it was Lana, still wearing a smirk on her face.
Sylvie's chest tightened. She grabbed her laptop and ran out of the room.
She found solace in her car. There, she rested her head on the steering wheel, weeping bitterly. She was broken, not just from losing the contract, but from the embarrassment. How could this have happened? That wasn't her flashdrive.
She drove off, not going to the office right away but to a place where she could calm her head.
She stopped by the ocean where she spent some time, reflecting on how hard life has been on her. It was funny how people thought she was lucky. She's been anything but lucky.
Calm enough, she drove back to Fluxpoint, hoping to clear her desk and return home for some rest
Walking into the ground floor, she met Lana who was speaking to someone.
She had a bright smile on her face, looking like the perfect lady who couldn't hurt a soul. Sylvie's stomach twisted.
She remembered how someone had bumped into her that morning. Her things had spilled on the floor and whoever it was had helped her with it. There was a possibility the flashdrive had been exchanged then.
Sylvie couldn't explain it but somehow, she felt the bitch in front of her had something to do with it. She's always had something to do with the problems in her life. It wasn't going to be the first time she was getting Sylvic into trouble or taking something from her, but today, S She walked towards her, her heart beating faster with rage. Lana finally noticed her, and her smile deepened.
"Hey, Sylvie. You're her words were cut short by the slap Sylvie sent to her face.
She gasped, her eyes going wide in shock, her hand instinctively touching her cheek.
The man she'd been speaking with was stunned. But Sylvie wasn't done. And she didn't care that they were on the the ground floor which was over flooded with people.
She dropped her bag and and hit Lana in the face before grabbing her hair. Lana tried to fight back, but it was useless.
"You bitch! Let me go!" She screeched.
Sylvie was blinded by rage. She didn't let her go until others had to intervene, pulling them apart.
Lana was already a mess. Her face was red and her hair tangled. She screamed and tried going at Sylvie but was held back by

It was at that mutuent that Sylvie noticed Kage at the scene. Although, he didn't interfere and just watched with his usual Barkness
When Lana saw him, she ran to him in tears. "I was just on my own when she attacked me. Kage! You can ask them. I didn't do anything" She tried.
Then, he was angry. Although, he still offered no words
