Nine Months Too Late 28
"You need to tell him to stop coming over," his voice was hard, it could scrape against stones,
It didn't take her up to a moment to figure what he meant. God, she was too tired for this,
"Westley?" She asked, just to be sure..
"Yeah, damn right. Westley! He's out there and I'm sure he's here to pick you up. I don't want him coming to my company all the time, Sylvie. So you need to have a little talk with him and tell him to stay away "Kage, please. It isn't like he comes in or anything. There's nothing wrong with it."
"Oh, but there's everything wrong with him coming into my company. It's my company, Sylvie. Don't fucking argue with me" Now, she was offended.
"You keep talking like I'm hopeless. Don't forget that I'm here against my will, Kage. If you wouldn't mind, let me work from my own company! I'm sick of your rules already"
"Well, it's my money, my rules. If you aren't cool with it, you know what to do."
He stormed out of the room, leaving Sylvie's anger simmering to a boil. She couldn't mask how furious she was as she joined Westley in the car. "Hey, what happened in there? You cool?" Westley questioned.
Im fine. Just drive.
Some minutes into the driver and Westley was able to cheer he up a bit.
"What about my proposal? Given it a thought yet?" He asked, only when he was sure it was safe to.
"Not yet, I'm still thinking about it" Sylvie replied.
Using his free hand that wasn't holding the steering wheel, he reached for hers, enveloping it in his.
"I hope I do get a reply soon. It isn't easy being close to you and knowing you're not mine yet Smiling at him, she caressed his hand holding hers. "Very soon, you'll get an answer. I promise. A WEEK LATER.
Sylvie hurried into Fluxpoint, trying not to make it obvious of course, that she was hurrying.
**********
She was late - very late. And she knew Kage would have her head for it. It wasn't exactly her fault; she'd overslept. She turned off her alarm when it rang because she was still very dizzy. She ended up waking up two hours late - the latest she's ever had to wake up. There wasn't enough time to fix something for breakfast, except for a cup of coffee. Her stomach was rumbling, she knew it was only a matter of time before it becomes unbearable.
She was hurrying into the elevator when someone bumped into her. She gasped, her bag falling to the floor.
"Oh, my God! I'm so sorry, ma'am. I was distracted, the young man apologized. From the way he dressed, it was obvious he
didn't work there.
"It's fine, Sylvie forced a smile, while he picked her things from the floor.
He handed them back to her. I'm really sorry"
"Nothing to worry about."
Getting into the elevator, she le

head was continuously throbbing, her joints felt weak She could really use a massage.
Her hand impulsively went to her stomach. Pressing pass the thick fabric she had to wear, she could feel the bump If anyone could have a look at her bare stomach, they could tell she was pregnant
Still living with Stephanie, she had to tell her the truth because eventually, she'd have to know. Stephanie was shocked and acted dramatic of course, but she promised never to reveal it to as little as an insect The elevator door opened and Sylvie hurried out. She half-
expected to find Kage waiting in her office already, but thankfully he wasn't And when she took her seat, she expected Patty to walk in and say, "Mr. Hawkins wants you in his office. He asked me to tell you as soon as you arrive." Thankfully, none of that happened.
She turned on her laptop and went into work. God, she had so much to do. If she really wanted to finish this plan in two weeks and get out of the country as planned, then she needed to get her ass up.
Thirty minutes into work, and the hunger was already unbearable. It was impossible for her to go on empty stomachs in the morning. It was impossible since she became pregnant.
She had some snacks with her. After a slight hesitation, she took them out and began munching on it. She licked her fingers in the process as she ate, multitasking and working on her system at the same time.
She knew she was a mess, but well, she was the only one in. So, who was there to impress? Since Kage hadn't been there when she arrived, she was sure he wouldn't he there for a long time... Or not
She flinched when she saw him approaching. With shaky hands, she gathered the snacks, throwing them into her bag. By the time he walked in, there was none in front of her.
Oh. There were some particles on the desk.
She swiped them off with her hands, hoping he wasn't going to notice. He could simply think she was swiping away some dust. right?
"Mmh," She cleared the roughness in her throat. "Hello, good morning
He had his cold eyes on her as he walked in, and in some way, they were accusing.
"Were you eating during working hours, Sylvie?" He asked after the uncomfortable silence.
Her eyes widened in annoyance. "What? Of course, not, I was simply wiping off some dirt on my desk. I wasn't doing anything serious.
"Is that so? I guess you forgot to wipe off the dirt on your lips, then."
Her heart skipped a bit. Quickly, she lifted her hand to her lips and found some particles of crackers on it. Hell, no
Her cheeks flushed in embarrassment. She reached for a napkin and wiped her lips, unable to meet Kage's gaze any longer.
Tum... 1 was just... She cleared her throat again, still not looking at him "It's not what you think, okay? I was only having a faste
A taste? Really?" He scoffed,
He approached her desk and took the seat in front of her. "Seriously, Sylvie, what have you been doing? Are you still interested in this project?" ""Of course!"
"This was supposed to be something simple. In two weeks, you should have been out of here. But with the look of things I can still round up my
par
in two weeks.
"Take hell, you can! You're always late to work. I find you sleeping most of the time, that is, if you aren't eating. You shout
up yo with your daily tasks. I just don't even know what you want anymore. Are you seriously looking for a means to stick
around?

Her eyes flared. "Oh! Don't even go there You're the last person I'd want to be with, Kage. And don't forget that I'm here against my will. If you'd simply let me go.
"If you're this nonchalant in my company, imagine how worst you'd be in yours. We wouldn't have achieved half of what we have by now.
Now, that was one point Sylvie couldn't argue about There were days when she only wanted to sleep, but the fear of Kagys wrath kept her in check. If it wasn't how much she wanted to avoid his annoying words, she'd have been more lazy than she W.IS.
"Tm sorry, okay?" She rolled her eyes. I've just been really tired lately"
Kage squinted his eyes. "Are you sick?"
"N... No. I'm fine."
He sighed. "There's a lot to do. Work on plan live and six and have them sent to me before twelve?" He stood up
"Um... I'm afraid I won't be able to do that. There's a meeting I have to attend to, her words brought him to a halt.
"Well, reschedule the meeting. I need those files delivered to me before midday
"Kage, please. It isn't it isn't just a meeting. It has to do with a very important contract. I've been working on it for some time now and can't miss it for anything"
Kage scoffed. "Fine. As soon as you're back from the meeting. I want it done. Either ways, I'm getting the files before the end of the day"
