Chapter 48 That Practically Got Yourself Killed
Chapter 48 That Practically Got Yourself Killed
After Pearl said she could buy anything she wanted, Bonny filled the whole cart with goodies even
before they left the first aisle.
It was easy to make a child happy. Their emotions came and went really quickly. Bonny had forgotten
that she said she wanted nothing and started go shopping with excitement.
"I want the one that tastes like wine, Brandon!"
"Got it already."
"Get another one, please."
"Don't eat too much of that. Maybe you choose one from the cart to put back, then we can get another
wine flavored one."
When it came to controlling Bonny, Brandon was obviously more strict than pearl sometimes. He knew
that no matter how many chocolates they bought, Bonny would gobble them down in just one afternoon
and had stomach ache.
Facing all the colorful snacks in the cart, Bonny could not choose, so she hugged Pearl's leg and
pleaded, "Mommy!"
"Brandon, give her another one, just this time." Pearl said helplessly.
"No, we've gotten a lot already. Let's go." Said Brandon, pushing a cart not much shorter than himself,
and walking towards the end of the shelf without looking back.
When her son became stubborn, Pearl had nothing to do, and even felt a little afraid.
Seeing the cart being pushed away, " Brandon is too overbearing! I don't like him anymore!" Bonny
pouted angrily and said.
"Bonny! You can't say that. Let's go. We'll buy more once you've finished."
"Hmph, I don't want to go with Brandon."
With that, Bonny turned and walked in the opposite direction from Brandon.
"Bonny..." Pearl followed behind her soon, saying, "You can't behave like this."
As soon as she walked to the corner of the shelf, the little girl suddenly froze. Her eyes sparkled with
joy. "Daddy!" As soon as she came to the corner of the shelf, Bonny suddenly stopped. Her eyes lit up
like finding the new world, "Daddy!"
Pearl's heart clicked. Following Bonny's gaze, she saw Richard in front of her. He was wearing a simple
white polo shirt and a pair of black trousers. He still seemed very unapproachable, even though he was
dressed casually.
"Daddy!" Bonny threw herself with a "Whoosh" and directly jumped into Richard's arms. "Daddy!"
Richard picked her up, and his cold eyes softened. "Have you eaten dinner?"
"Mommy said she would cook, so she brought me and Brandon shopping." Bonny shook her head and
said.
"Cook?" Richard looked at Pearl. "You've changed a lot after having children. When do you learn how
to cook?"
Standing in front of Richard, Pearl only felt restrained and nervous. Especially when she thought of
Helena's cold warning this afternoon, all she wanted to do was to get rid of everything with him
immediately.
But at the thought that Henela might be the culprit seven years ago, she held it back and barely
managed to make a sound. "Just a little," she said reluctantly.
"Daddy, haven't you eaten yet? Would you like to join us?" Bonny hugged Richard's neck while blinking
her eyelashes innocently.
Richard took a glance at Pearl as if he was waiting for her to say something.
Without too much hesitation and only considered for half a second, Pearl said, "Youo can join us.
Having one extra person wouldn't make a huge difference. I just need to add one more pair of
chopsticks."
Richard frowned slightly, as if in doubt, and looked at her inquisitively.
Before this, Pearl was afraid of him and tried to avoid him. Inviting him to have dinner was quite
different from how she was before. He could tell that she was conflicted.
Pearl saw Richard's doubt. She explained, "I misunderstood you the other day. I'm sorry. I've been
trying to apologize to you, but I didn't get the chance."
Her words was partly true. She did feel very guilty for blaming Richard fro tooking the children that day.
However, she had no other way to investigate Helena. The Zellweger family was not ordinary family. As
a regular doctor, her only way of getting close to the Zellweger family was through Richard.
"We haven't bought the ingredients yet. What do you like to eat? You can think that's my apology."
Pearl changed the topic soon because she was afraid that Richard would know her real purpose.
And Richard did not have the time to think more. Bonny kept chattering in his arms. "Daddy, I want to
eat fried chicken. Shall we go get some later?"
"No problem, do you want ice cream?"
"Yes, the big one like last time!"
......
When Pearl, Richard, and Bonny arrived at the seafood section, Brandon had already put the steak for
children into the shopping cart. He was asking the fishmonger for some shrimps currently.
"Get more. This isn't enough." Pearl walked up and spoke.
When he turned and saw Richard, Brandon's delicate brow fowned. "Nice to meet you, Uncle." He
greeted him cautiously.
He was different from Bonny. Besides helping Pearl out for at Evelina's birthday, he had not called
Richard 'daddy' again. While, he was still polite and had the decency to call him Uncle.
When he heard "Uncle", Richard felt a little uncomfortable. He didn't know why.
They headed home together, after buying the ingredients.
Richard drove there, so he offered a ride to the three of them back to their apartment.
On the way back, Bonny was busy eating her snacks, leaving crumbs everywhere. Pearl started
panicking when she saw this.
"Bonny, it's enough. Eat later." She took out a paper towel to clean up the mess, afraid that it would
make Richard angry.
Richard was a neat freak. That practically got yourself killed.
"It's fine, let her eat," said Richard. It was very blunt. And the tone of his voice could not be realized."
Although he said so, Pearl still did not want to let Bonny fool around. She took a bag of candy out and
said, "Bonny, eat this."
"Okay." Bonny would never say no to snacks. Pearl took one piece of candy out and held it to Richard.
"Daddy, here you are!"
The seatbelt secured her tightly. No matter how hard she tried, she could not reach the front. The way
she tried in the rearview mirror was really funny.
Pearl pressed her shoulder, "Just have it yourself. Uncle needs to drive."
"Daddy, you can eat candy while you drive. Did the policeman say you can't eat candy while you
drive?"
"No." There was a second of silence.
"Daddy, will you eat the candy? It's yummy."
"Ok," Richard replied. Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
Bonny could not struggle from her seatbelt, so she directly stuffed the candy into Pearl's hand.
"Mommy, give it to Daddy!"
Pearl's palm was scratched by the candy wrapper. It felt like it was burning for some reason.
uh...Bonny...
After a few seconds of preparation, Pearl handed the candy to Richard. She spread her palm beside
Richard, forcing the words out of her mouth, "Here! It's from Bonny."
Her hesitation was reflected in the rearview mirror, inexplicably uneasy.
After holding it up for a moment, she thought that Richard was not going to eat it. Suddenly, she felt a
warm touch on her palm. Even though it was just for a second, it froze her in shock.
