Chapter 47 I'm Not Afraid Of Anything
Chapter 47 I'm Not Afraid Of Anything
The room was quiet after the door closed.
Pearl took out her phone and saw two missing calls. Looking at the time of the missed calls. It seemed
that the time was when she met Mrs. Zellweger, and the mobile phone was silent then.
She called back, and he picked up almost immediately.
As soon as the call went through, there came a careless voice of Ethan from the other end. "Pearl,
have you been too busy after returning to work? Why didn't you answer my phone earlier?"
"I was busy meeting someone, so I didn't see your calls."
"Who?"
"Why are you asking? Why are you calling me?"
"Do you think I want to call you? I'm watching a movie with my girlfriend this afternoon. Then I heard
that you were in trouble again, so I tried to help you even lefting my girlfriend behind.
Pearl was stunned.
"Alex called me and said you were pulled away by a woman."
Pearl finally understood what he was talking about , after hearing this.
"What happened?" Ethan's voice turned more serious than usual. "It was Richard's mother, wasn't it?"
"Is she the only woman who could pull me away?" Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.
"You're still in the mood to joke with me. It seems you are fine." Ethan teased. "What? It's been seven
years. You have nothing to do with Richard now. Didn't you spalsh her water for revenge? Splash that
b*tch!"
Pearl was pretty upset at first, but she could not help but laugh when she heard this. "Come on. Could
you be a little more serious? Did you really think I would do that?"
"So funny! Do you know how many times you told me you wanted to do that after you were drunk? You
even made me swore that if you got the chance, I'd have to hand the cup to you and make sure it's full
so that you can throw it in her face..."
Pearl's taste and her drinking capacity for alcohol were equally terrible. Few people had seen her drunk
before. When she was abroad, the only one she believed herself to drink with was Ethan.
Therefore, she knew Ethan was telling the truth.
"Let's do this after I'm back, okay?"
"OK," Pearl turned over in bed, looked at the ceiling and promised, "I'm not afraid of anything, but you
should know that Mrs. Zellweger is a vengeful person. I'm afraid even your company will be dragged
down at that time."
"What am I afraid of? My sister is watching over my company. Do you think she'd dare?"
"Those who don't do it are cowards."
"Definitely cowards."
The both of them went back and forth, spouting nonsense. The dark cloud in her head
dissipated gradually.
Suddenly, Ethan suddenly changed the topic. "You said that Mrs. Zellweger was vengeful. Seeing how
she still hates you for what happened seven years ago, why she just splashed water at you? It seems
like Richard has a strong voice at home."
Ethan reminded Pearl of something. After thinking of something, her heart suddenly clicked and her
face changed.
Ethan did not hear a response. "Pearl? Are you there?"
Pearl came to her senses, "I thought of something suddenly."
"What?"
"At that time, you said if I wanted to find who set me up, I'd just need to think of the person who would
benefit the most, right?"
"Yes."
Pearl kept in a silence.
Although she was abroad In the past seven years, she had been keeping an eye on everything back
home. The person who set her up must have detested her so much that they wanted to destroy her, but
she could not think of a person who benefited during these years.
After coming back, she suspected that Adriana, because the incident led to her break up with Richard.
If she had not broken up with him, Adriana would not have had the chance to be with him.
But did Adriana really have such a great ability?
Seven years ago, on that dark rainy night, nobody was on the street. That street was supposed to be
Kityall City's bustling street. If the person did not have the power to empty the street, leaving her with
no hope, how would that incident have happened?
"You mean..." Ethan's voice came from the other end. "It could have been Mrs. Zellweger who set you
up?"
Ethan's words almost jumped out with the idea in her mind, and her ears hummed for a time.
Something happened in the Zellweger family that year, Mrs. Zellweger was anxious to urge Richard
return to inherit the family business. While, Richard was still in high school, so he rejected to go
abroad. Eventually, he fell out with his family. He was extremely stubborn, so Mrs. Zellweger turned to
her...
"Ethan, the person who benefitted the most from our breakup wasn't Adriana. It was Mrs. Zellweger."
Pearl's tone was particularly difficult, but she still spoke out. Her face was stiff and terrible.
After that incident, even though she broke up with Richard, Adriana might not be with him. However,
Mrs. Zellweger would definitely be able to get him back to inherit the family business.
Mrs. Zellweger benefited the most.
It had been seven years. She was just an ex-girlfriend of her son. If she did nothing back then, why
would she take the trouble to hunt her down?
These thoughts made Pearl fall into the abyss.
"Don't think too much, I'll be back soon. And I'll help you fing out. I promise every one who was
involved wil get punished." Ethan said.
"No, I'll check by myself."
This was her own affair, which had haunted her for seven years seven years. Only by revealing the
truth, could she really come out of the shadow seven years ago.
On the windowsill, a corner of the curtain was blown by the wind, revealing half the sky dyed red by the
sunset.
It was evening.
After hanging up the phone, Pearl sorted out herself and took two children to the supermarket to buy
groceries. A lot was still on her mind. Something was weighing on her mind all the way.
Bonny loved shopping in the supermarket the most. She would always throw all kinds of snacks into
the cart every time. However, today, she did not do that.
Brandon took her favorite chocolate from the shelf. "Bonny, do you want this?"
Bonny's eyes lit up at first, but she shook her head the next second. "No."
"Why?" Pearl stared at her and asked, "wasn't this your favorite chocolate?"
"It's fine if I don't have it. I want you to be in a good mood, Mommy." Bonny said in a muffled voice, "If I
don't buy snacks, then you won't have to work."
Hearing this, Pearl was shocked.
Bonny still remembered what she said this afternoon. She could not help but feel moved.
"Bonny, I'm not upset because of work." She squatted down and hugged Bonny. "How couldn't Mommy
buy chocolate for you?"
"Is that real?" Bonny's mouth twitched. "You're not upset because of work?"
"Of course not, and I'm in a good mood now. You're my sunshine. Come, smile." As she said, she
stretched out her finger and poked Bonny's cheek.
Bonny giggled immediately, and her little face looked was particularly bright like sunflower.
The laughter reached the back of the shelf, and a tall figure stopped.
