Chapter 2085
Chapter 2085
Anne pretended to get up and look at Aurelia seriously, "If you insist on waiting for Neal, then he'll be separated from his parents. In this case, maybe we might also be separated from mommy and daddy tomorrow. Are you sure you want that?"
"No I don't!" Aurelia cried out. "I don't want that! I don't want that! I don't want that..."
Wiping away her tears, she then reached out to hug Anne. "I'll go to bed now, I don't want to leave mommy and daddy!"
"All right!"
Anne picked up Aurelia and secretly winked at me. She then comforted her as they went upstairs.
As I watched them disappear up the stairs, I brought myself to ask Hendrix. From NôvelDrama.Org.
"Mr. Roberts, where is your dignity as the head of the family? You should know your principles as a parent and as a father. So why did you retreat when faced with a minor problem like that?"
He brought his thumb and forefinger close together. He gestured to show how close he was to something.
Hendrix leaned back and looked down at my hand. He smiled and said, "It's a minor problem for you, but that's not the case for me. I've tried so hard to get close to Aurelia for a very long time. I can't let all that effort go to waste."
After a brief pause, he pulled my hand away and approached me. He deliberately lowered his tone and narrowed his eyes. "Besides, who say I'm the head of this family?"
"You rogue."
Hendrix's temper had improved a lot but he was still very shameless. I would have been taken advantage of if he had continued. I pushed him away and ran back into the room.
While the girls were busy washing up in the bathroom, I quickly found the remote control on the bed and hid it in my closet before I then laid down on bed, feeling very at ease.
As expected, Hendrix began inching his hands around after the lights went off. It didn't take him long to start searching around for the remote control. I snickered to myself and left him lost in the darkness looking for the remote control. I let out a long sigh of relief and fell asleep.
I had thought that the matter with Neal was already settled. However, it was very obvious that Aurelia had lost her smile in the past few days. She wasn't interested in her food anymore and she would be gloomy all day long. She wasn't even as responsive to Anne and Wynn as used to.
Since Freya was the one who'd practically raised her, I thought that she would have more experience on how to deal with a situation like this. So, I went to her for help.
Half an hour after our call ended, her car was already at our gate.
Without even greeting us, Freya went straight to Aurelia, who was drawing circles with some dried twigs on the grass. She placed her hands on her knees and ben down to talk to her.
Her confident expression made me feel relieved. Finally, there was someone who could cure Aurelia's depression.
But then, two minutes later, Freya returned with a hunched back. She shrugged and walked towards me, saying that there was nothing more she could do.
"I was happy for nothing." Crossing my arms, I sighed. "You raised Oliver and yet you can't deal with Aurelia? What did you say to her?"
"What else could I say? Just explain the situation to her, then slowly coax her out of it. That usually
always works with disapprovingly.
kids,"
Freya said
Of course we had already tried every known method to coax her out of it. If those methods had worked, she wouldn't even be here in the first place. Looking at how lonely Aurelia was, an unexplainable feeling of sadness built up in my heart.
If she had her parents by her side growing up, she would have been able to have normal friends, instead of Aaron who was busy looking for me while pursuing his career. Out of desperation, he raised her at home and treated her like a princess. If all of that hadn't happened, she would have been able to live life like a normal child.
All in all, Hendrix and I owed her.
"Don't get too worked up by it. There's always a way. As the old saying goes, whoever starts the trouble should end it," Freya reminded.
"Does that mean that we have to bring Neal back?"
It's not that we never considered this, it was just the very last option we would take.
"Not necessarily," Freya said as she
looked at Aurelia. "If seeing Neal is
all she wants, then take her to him.lt
would be best if she saw how happy he is with his new family. Maybe that way, she'll be able to let go of her worries. She's a girl after all,
I
she'd care very deeply for a lot of
things, people too."
She was lost in her own thoughts, muttering to herself, "Seems like having a son saved me a lot of trouble..."
