Chapter 2081
Chapter 2081
In fact, it wasn't so much that it was hidden, but rather that I hadn't paid enough attention to him.
I didn't ask, because I just wanted to know if the promise we made with each other in the past still counted right now.
Hendrix was just like that scar. He didn't try to hide himself away, but he had always been standing under a heavy shadow. He habitually chose to be silent. But now that the shadow had faded away, it was time to reveal his heart freely under the sun.
Everything was difficult in the beginning and there was always a first time.
"That year when you were kidnapped while you were pregnant with our first child, we heard news from Jarold City that someone had found out the truth about my parents' accidental death. I rushed over there by myself. As expected, I was ambushed and got shot in the leg. Although Pedro's men saved me, I was bedridden for two whole months."
His tone was light, critical and relaxed. It was as though he was talking about someone else.
I still felt a stabbing pain whenever I recalled the events of the year. On top of the despair I felt from losing my child, I still agonized about the darkness I had been stuck in from my coma that lasted for two whole months.
At the darkest and most helpless moment of life, any help and care provided by other people were all futile. Hendrix was absent during the times I needed him the most. So, for a long time, I wasn't willing to even utter his name.
At that time, Hendrix had been so eager for revenge. He knew that it was a trap, but was willing to take the risk and gamble his own life away, neglecting me and our child. There must have been a reason for this.
But in the end, we had fought hand-in-hand, until now. Whatever happened in the past should stay in the past.
"Andrea was the one who took care of you in those two months. So, in order to repay her for that, you got engaged to her?" I smiled faintly and made fun of him.
Hendrix shrugged and didn't agree nor disagree with me. "Not exactly. Back then, I wasn't ruthless enough. Andrea would cry and make a fuss all the time. I owed this to Casper, so there was nothing I could do about it. Furthermore, it was only an engagement, so there were plenty of opportunities for me to break my promise."
"Humph..." I snorted and said knowingly, "It seems that I wasn't coy enough back then to win your heart."
"It's not too late to try it now." Hendrix squinted his eyes slightly, with a naughty smile on his face.
"Forget it." I waved my hand at him and turned to leave. "Mr. Roberts, if you are missing Andrea, feel free to go looking for her. I'd bet she would love it."Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.
I didn't want to be sensitive about it, but I still couldn't get a hold of myself whenever her name came up.
Luckily, Hendrix didn't reply to this, so this matter was left unsettled.
When I returned to the living room, I noticed that Evan was there. It seemed that he had been there for quite some time.
I looked at him, then turned back and looked at the cloakroom. I then said faintly, "You heard all of that?"
Evan lowered his head and didn't say anything.
I didn't mind being kept in the dark. It's just that he always chose to keep quiet at the worst times, which triggered me.
"Evan." I crossed my arms in front of my chest and said seriously, "I don't care whether you actually hear us or not, but listen carefully. There is no distinction between me and your boss hope that from now on you won't keep things from me due to your obligation to protect me. Understand?"
I didn't see myself as someone who enjoys gossiping, and I wouldn't inquire too much about things that I shouldn't be talking about. But I had to be serious about Evan's behavior of being secretive.
"Got it!" Evan blurted out. When he said this, he looked up at the ceiling. He didn't dare to look me in the eyes.
Why did I feel strange about this? Was this guy playing tricks on me? He was very quick to agree to my promise, more than anyone else ever did. Did he still secretly See Hendrix as his only true boss?
"You..."
"Her orders are also mine."
Just as I was about to threaten him, Hendrix suddenly walked out. His casual clothes swayed about lazily with his loose hair. He looked very gentle and harmless.
Seeing as Evan hadn't responded, Hendrix added, "From now on, tell her anything she wants to know. Say everything, don't leave anything out." With his backing, I felt very confident as I puffed out my chest.
Evan looked at Hendrix and then at me. He saluted
and said, "Yes sir!"
The sound of his leather shoes clicking on the floor made me pat my chest repeatedly to calm down. Before I could react, Evan started explaining monotonously.

"Mr. Moore was the one who shot Mr. Roberts, Back then, in order to fulfill his daughter's wish, Mr. Moore shot Mr. Roberts' knee and threatened him. If he didn't agree to be engaged to his daughter, the next bullet would pass through Madam's stomach..."
"Shut up!"
