Chapter 2080
Chapter 2080
The wound wasn't very obvious. I probably would never have noticed it if he wasn't in swimming trunks and hadn't walked in front of me.
Hendrix wouldn't have shown me his injuries on purpose. There was only one possibility that I was able to discover this, he had forgotten about his injury.
While I was lost in my thoughts, Evan happened to pass by with the servant who was cleaning up. I stopped and called out to him, "Evan, wait a minute."
"Madam." Evan bowed respectfully.
Still looking at the scar on Hendrix's leg, I asked, "What happened with Hendrix's knee?"
Evan looked up and followed my eyes. After a moment of silence, he said, "I'm afraid I don't know the answer to that, Madam."
"You don't know?" I was surprised and amused at the same time. Evan had been with Hendrix for much longer than me. He settled everything for Hendrix, how could he not know? Did I look like I was someone who was easy to fool?
I stopped walking and said, "Evan, do you know that your ears twitch uncontrollably when you tell
a lie?"
Evan was stunned, his face looked shocked. He then pretended to be calm and said. "I really don't know, Madam. I'm telling you the truth. Mr. Roberts doesn't actually tell me everything."
"Really..." I said as I smiled.
I made up the lie about his ear twitching, but he hesitated which completely gave him away.
Forget it. Evan was loyal. Hendrix must have warned him about this, hence his tightly sealed lips. Both the master and his servant were equally foolish. Once they've agreed to never talk about something, they'd never spill the tea no matter what.
Since he had settled his past, it might not be that difficult for Hendrix to be honest with me about it.
"Okay, I'll let you off this time. Let's head inside."
As soon as Evan left, I went straight to my room. I sat on the sofa for a while before Hendrix stepped out from the bathroom.
Looking up, I saw him with his exposed upper body and a towel tightly wrapped around his waist. If everything went exactly to plan, his next step was to change into some fresh clothes and cover himself up completely.
Hendrix noticed that I was looking at him. He squinted his eyes and revealed a malicious smile.
"Right now, I have a very strong reason to suspect that you're giving me a hint."
As a couple, we both naturally knew what these kinds of stares meant.
As expected, he walked into the cloakroom.
"Don't flatter yourself." I quickly dismissed the idea.Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.
I looked down and thought about it for a while. It seemed that it had been a very long time since I watched Hendrix change into his clothes, He often left early and returned late in the day. On top of that we had spent more time apart than when we were together, so I didn't have many opportunities to watch him change. It wasn't strange then for me to not have noticed
such a large gunshot wound.
With that in mind, I got up and walked towards the cloakroom. Leaning against the door frame, I looked down at it.
It just so happened that Hendrix had
just stretched one of his legs into his pants. Just as he was about to get up, he caught sight of me from the corner of his eye. He looked slightly to the side before continuing with putting on his pants.
If we were younger, we couldn't have withstood this kind of stares, but at our age, we were now much calmer. I focused on the scar on his left leg, gently pursing my lips.
Hendrix was a very smart man. He pulled his pants up and followed my eyes that were focused on his left leg. Right then he knew that I had discovered the secret that he had kept hidden in his heart for a very long time.
