Marrying my high school bully

No space

Dexter

I tried to slam the door on her and walk away but Lorraine stopped me, silently begging me with her eyes to hold on.

Emilia palmed her hands together, her orbs getting misty as she blinked hard. “Please, just let me in. I promise I won’t take your time. ” She employed the most pitiful tone that was already getting to Lorraine.

Who cares if she stayed for just a minute? Her presence was already irritating me because I knew what she was up to.

How could she come out of the blues and begin to plead with me on her knees after everything she had done?

“Dexter, please, let her in. I think she has something important to say.” Lorraine requested weakly.

I raked through my hair in frustration.

Couldn’t she see through the pleas and fake pitiful expression that it was all for show?

I didn’t know what it was yet, but I intended to find out.

“Let her in then.” I agreed. “But I won’t be here for whatever nonsense she has to say. ” I walked away, leaving both of them stunned.

I’d always known Lorraine to have a kind heart, but that shouldn’t make her stupid. I followed people by the kind of aura they radiated and if I wasn’t comfortable, I wouldn’t continue with the friendship.

Not only had Emilia tried to ruin my relationship with Lorraine, she also humiliated her publicly several times. And now she thought that her offences would be wiped away by an annoying show of apology.

She should try again.

I took the empty plates from the bedroom and headed towards the kitchen. We were having a very good moment and Emilia just came in like a bug to ruin it for us.

Lorraine and I had a lot of things to talk about. She was yet to know why I distanced myself from her even though it hurt to do so, but with Emilia’s presence we wouldn’t be able to continue our conversation.

Gentle footsteps trailed towards me but I ignored them until I felt her arms wrapped around my waist. “You should have waited.” Lorraine chided me as I scoffed.

“Wait for what, Lorraine? That woman is a snake. You don’t know her more than I do.”

She pursed her lips as if she was trying to hold back a smile then she began caressing my skin, causing my anger to slowly dissipate.

This was the problem I had.

I couldn’t stay mad at her no matter how much I wanted to. We stepped out from the kitchen and stood at the passage between the living room and the kitchen so we could watch her.

“Dexter,” She began softly and I sighed, knowing that I’d lost the battle even before she could continue. “Last night life presented a clean slate to us and we grabbed it. I’m still surprised at everything that is happening, but don’t you think it’s for a good reason? Maybe the universe wants us to forgive everyone who offended us so that we can all be happy.”

Damn the universe!

Some people would never change. They are just so good at manipulation and waiting patiently for the right time to strike.

“So what do you want me to do?” I questioned with a bored tone.

“Come with me to see Emilia. I know that it’s a strange request and she has hurt us, but I’m willing to listen to her. So do the same too. Let’s just give her the chance to clear herself.” She appealed to me, playing with my collarbone.

She flashed me her sweetest smile that I couldn’t refuse so I raised my hands in surrender. “Fine! I’d come along, but she won’t stay here for more than twenty minutes. I don’t trust her.”

“You’ve done more than enough, darling. Let’s go.” She urged me on.

Emilia, who was passing glances at us, sat upright when we returned to the living room. Today, she didn’t dress like a harlot and I’d have asked her if she had forgotten her identity, if not Lorraine who kept asking me to be calm.

I took the double seater opposite her and held my wife close to me. “Twenty minutes is all you have so tell me why you are here?”

She inclined her head and stayed quiet for a minute, but I wasn’t having it. I was a busy man and I didn’t want anyone to waste my time.

“Can you start talking? We don’t have all day.” I raised my voice.

When she lifted her face, her eyes gleamed with unshed tears. “I’m here to say that I’m sorry.” Her voice cracked and Lorraine glanced at me with a knowing look.

“Don’t you think it’s a little too late for that? I mean, you dropped a lot of threats the last time you tried to seduce me, and now you want me to forgive you, when you made my life unsafe?” I shot at her, the tone of my voice increasing in a high crescendo.

She sniffed and wiped a tear. “You know that I didn’t mean any of the things I said, Dexter. I hated the fact that you rejected me even when I kept throwing myself at you, but then I realised that I was just wasting my time on you.”

“It’s a good thing you did.” I chimed in.

Lorraine cleared her throat and moved away from my chest, sitting upright. “And when did you realise that you were wasting your time?” She asked harshly.Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.

“From the video I watched yesterday.” She confessed as Lorraine and I exchanged confused glances.

“What video?”

“The video from the party. It’s trending all over the internet and a lot of people are giving positive reviews…” She trailed off and stopped when she saw how uninterested we were. “What I’m trying to say is that, the both of you love each other and it would be very bad of me to continue to butt in your relationship. I cheated on you and that’s when I lost you, but I’ve made a promise to myself that I would never hurt any man like that again.”

“Good for you.” I replied casually, my eyes darting at the clock. “The twenty minutes I gave you has elapsed, and my wife and I have other things to do for the day.” I said dismissively then remembered something. “Have you ever gone to visit Victoria? You know she’s at rehab right?”

Emilia became quiet again, and avoided her gaze as she shook her head.

“I thought as much. You can leave now, and your apology has been accepted, but I don’t ever want to see you in my house again.” I ordered her then opened the door for her. “Let yourself out.”

She slowly took her pause and dragged her feet, her expression filled with sadness. Her shoulders dropped as she walked, no longer high and cocky as it used to be. “Goodbye, Lorraine, Dexter.” She muttered and I slammed the door.

I sighed in relief. “Good riddance to bad rubbish.”

“You were too harsh, do you know that?”

“That’s what she deserves. And I hope you know that I only gave her a listening ear because of you.”

She hugged me and kissed my chest because of the difference in our heights. She wasn’t really a short woman but I still towered over her.

“Thank you for that, hubby. How do you want your reward?” She wriggled her brows, batting her lashes at me suggestively.

I got the hint and took off the simple robe she wore, delighted at the delicious sight that stood before me. “I think you know what I want.” I grinned and dove in for a passionate kiss.
