Married At First Glance: I Am Not Ugly

A Big Argument

“He did a very good job and I was truly grateful.” she said

“So have you picked the place for the fake wedding yet?”

Alexander looked at Marissa after she mentioned the fake wedding.

“Uhm… yeah. I was going over some options with my lawyer. We’ve decided on a mansion.

It’s a private and elegant location that should work well for our plan. What do you think?” he asked, facing Marissa to get her view about the matter

She looked surprised.

“A mansion? Don’t you think that’s a bit much?”

“Look, for my business partners who I want to sign the contract with need to be convinced that I really am married so that I could sign the contract with them.

Do you know how much it will cost to get that contract for my company?” he asked Marissa.

Marissa and Alexander sat across from each other in silence, tension filling the room. Alexander had been dismissive of her opinions and had a tendency to be unfriendly.

“A mansion? Seriously, Alexander? You’re making this fake wedding sound like a royal affair,” Marissa said with an irritated tone.

He leaned back in his chair, not bothering to hide his annoyance.

“This is a business deal, Marissa, not a fairy tale. It needs to look convincing, and a mansion is the best choice.”

Marissa clenched her jaw but didn’t back down.

“I still think it’s excessive.”

“Well, you’re entitled to your opinion, but I’m not changing the plan,” he snapped.

“This is my idea and you are not gonna tell me what I should or should not do.

You’re here because I picked you to be my fake wife, so you don’t come and start deciding for me alright.”

She looked at him pissed with what he just said.

“Do you know…. I thought we could have a meaningful conversation but all we do is fight, fight and fight because you are one piece of work, Alexander.” she lashed out.

He turned from what he was watching and stared at her with anger blazing in his eyes.

“Are you implying that I’m the problem here?” he retorted.

“I didn’t say that, but you said that meaning you know that you’re the problem.” she said to him, obviously angry at his words.

“You know what, I wouldn’t have picked someone like you in the first place, because you are seriously a piece of work, Marissa.”

Marissa couldn’t believe what she was hearing. Alexander’s harsh words hit her like a slap in the face.

“You’re no better.” she shot back.

“I wouldn’t have agreed to this if I knew you were so insufferable.”

“Me? Insufferable? You’ve got a lot of nerve talking back at me, Marissa.” he lashed out standing up to face her.

The room was now a battlefield of words, each of them determined to have the last say. Marissa stood her ground, refusing to back down.

“At least I’m not arrogant and self-centered like you!” she retorted, her anger boiling over.

“Seriously, Marissa, don’t push me.” he threatened.

“Oh please… do you really think I’m scared of you huh?” she rolled her eyes.

Marissa was seething with anger. She couldn’t believe the audacity of Alexander’s words.

“You’re not making any sense, Alexander,” she snapped back. “You act like I’m the one causing all the problems here.”

Alexander’s face turned even redder with frustration. “Oh, so now you’re saying I’m the problem, huh?”

Marissa wasn’t backing down. “You’re so full of yourself, it’s unbearable. I never thought I’d meet someone as arrogant as you.”

Alexander’s nostrils flared.

“Arrogant? Look who’s talking! You can be incredibly stubborn.”

Marissa’s voice was filled with contempt.

“Stubborn? Maybe if you weren’t so controlling, we wouldn’t be having this argument!”

The room felt like a pressure cooker about to explode. Alexander clenched his fists.

“You don’t know the first thing about compromise, Marissa.”

Marissa shot back,

“And you don’t know the first thing about being a decent human being.”

“And you do?” He shot back.

“I mean take a good look at yourself. I changed your life. If I didn’t propose this would you have had the money to buy those decent clothes over there.” Pointing to the new clothes he bought.

“Oh … . so you feel you changed my life huh.” she said.

“You are a scumbag!”

“If you didn’t want me to agree, you would have found a way to talk to your damn girlfriend to be your wife, but wait a minute, she’s too ambitious to have time for a little clingy boyfriend like you.”

Alexander was beginning to lose control of his anger.

“You bitch! don’t you dare talk about Jessie like that.” he yelled, moving closer to face her.

“You’re not my type and will never be. You pauper!”

Marissa’s anger flared even higher. “Pauper? That’s rich coming from you, Mr. High-and-Mighty CEO!”

Their voices clashed like thunder in the room as their argument reached a level.. The tension was almost choking.

“Maybe I don’t want to be your type!” Marissa yelled back at Alexander, her face filled with anger.

Alexander was almost trembling with anger.

“You know what? I should’ve never agreed to this ridiculous plan.”

Marissa pointed a finger at him, her voice dripping with sarcasm.

“Oh, I’m sure you’re such a catch that every woman would want to marry you.”

Alexander was furious, but he couldn’t come up with a response. He turned and stormed out of the room, leaving Marissa seething.

“Where are you going, asshole? I’m not done talking yet you fucking bastard!”

The air was thick with their heated exchange, and the room felt like a battleground. Their argument had left them both wounded, but they were far from reaching a truce.

Meanwhile, Marissa was left standing alone in the room, her heart still pounding from their intense argument.

She hadn’t expected their fake marriage to be easy, but the level of anger that had just erupted took her by surprise.Property © 2024 N0(v)elDrama.Org.

She took a few deep breaths to calm down.
