Chapter 27
Chapter 27
“Thank you, Scarlett. You divorced Derick so easily and returned him to me,” Eliza gloated proudly.
“After all, I’m the prim and proper lady of the Miller family. Dericle’s parents are fond of me. Did you know what Harper said about you? She says you’re like their nanny! You’re not even close to being their daughter–in–law.
“You cook and clean all day for them. They don’t appreciate you at all. They treat you as a nanny that they can boss around and toss away once they’re done. That’s all you are to
them.
“You know why?” ||
Scarlett was silent. She just stared at Eliza coldly.
Scarlett knew that Harper, Dylan and Darcy didn’t like her. Only Dolly was fond of her.

Scarlett heard all sorts of terrible things she had never heard before from the jones family. But, she bottled it all up since she loved Derick.
Ehra chackled in delight.
“Because of your identity! You’re an orphan. Even if our family took care of you, you were left under foster care in the countryside. Your name isn’t even on our family register
“So? What makes me your family’s foster daughter? I’m just myself. Don’t lamp me in with your family,” Scarlett interjected. She didn’t choose to be born. She couldn’t decide how her life would go as a child.
**Your father knew I was switched at birth, yet he didn’t want to tell the truth. You don’t have to mock me either. What kind of person I am has nothing to do with you!” Scarlett never wanted to provoke Eliza
She only had one rule when dealing with people. If they didn’t mess with her, she wouldn’t mess with them. But if they continued after being warned, she would pay them back tenfold.
“Hal” diza sneered
“I guess you were just born unlucky. So what you were switched at birth? Would your original family be any better?
“Stay away from Derick, Scarlett. Or else.”
After her fierce warning, Eliza marched off elegantly.
Scarlett scoffed angrily, but her heart hurt.
Perhaps it was because she was pregnant, but tears couldn’t stop flowing from her eyes.
“Derick. Thate you! Why did you betray me…”
Scarlett didn’t want to go to the banquet hall she walked to the lounge nearby.
Derick only exited the toilet after hearing her footsteps leane
He thought of her trembling voice as she said, “Derick.. I hate you!” and watched as she left. His expression was dark and unreadable. He was holding back an inexplicable
emotion.
He turned to go the other way.
Scarlett went to the lounge alone. Th

She liked roses. They were covered in thoms just like her.
Unconsciously, she thought back to when Derick g
gave her roses
“Oh, the cold and distant Ms. Miller. This red rose is covered in thorns. What a fitting gift for you. Look, my hand’s already bleeding just from holding it”
She would mock him, “Derick! You’re so silly. You pick your hands on the rose thorns every time.”
“Hab, Scarlett. You’re the one who’s clueless here. cradled it gently on the way here since you bloed it. Why, I practically held in like my own child”
She was speechless, but also happy he knew how to make her smile.
What happened to that once loving couple? Why had they grown distant, bid farewell, and now become strangers?
Scarlett’s heart sting with suffocating pain. She stared off absentmindedly at the nearby scenery
Scarlett laughed softly with her head hung low,
She laughed at herself for being such a naive fool at 18. She laughed at how she gave her efforts to the wrong people, and how she ignored herself for lave
In the rakht of Scarlett’s sadness, a woman’s scream was heard not far away
