Chapter 561 My Appreciation (Part One)
Chapter 561 My Appreciation (Part One)
Upon seeing them again after a while, Sally was brimming with happiness. They excitedly gave each
other hugs.
Cathy was very pleased to see that Carla was doing fine, so she wrapped her arms around her and
gave her a warm embrace.
"Carla! You actually came back!"
Cathy actually thought that she wouldn't be able to see Carla again, for the rest of her life!
This place was destitute and completely isolated. Rarely did she have any visitors coming by. With that
in mind, anyone who had been to this place most probably wouldn't consider ever going back a second
time even for just a visit. Copyright by Nôv/elDrama.Org.
"Yes! I came back, Cathy! And this wouldn't be the last time either! I'll drop by every once in a while in
the future!" Carla gladly told her, giving Cathy a pat on her shoulder.
"Carla! What is all this? What are they doing?"
Duke asked in shock upon seeing the boxes of gifts being taken out of the helicopter.
"Duke, all of these are for you and Cathy. You have taken care of me and my daughter for four years! I
really can't thank you enough, so please accept them as a sign of my gratitude,"
Carla answered as she gave them a smile. There were probably more than a dozen bodyguards who
came out of the big helicopter. Each of them were carrying two boxes of gifts in their hands. Carla went
ahead and bought some new clothes and food for them. Anything she thought that might be able to
help them in some way, Carla brought them all.
Meanwhile, on the top of the mountain just right outside the mud house, Sally was holding a remote
controlled airplane and showing Bob how to use it. Given that they had lived all their life in this
mountain, Abbey had never seen a toy like this before, so she had a great time chasing it around as it
flew.
The kids were merrily laughing and running around, and they couldn't be any happier. From the way it
looked, it felt as though Sally had never even left at all.
As they were having fun, all the grown-ups were inside the house.
"Please! I will have to refuse! There's no need for you to do that!"
Cathy was in a state of panic as she looked at Terence who was about to bow and serve them cups of
tea as a sign of his appreciation. He felt eternally grateful toward them for looking after Carla.
Cathy and her husband might not have known much about things outside the mountain, but they could
easily tell from just a glance that Terence was a rich and powerful man. That being said, they were just
a group of humble people who lived in a secluded village, so she was flustered because of how
courteous he was being, and she was at a loss at what to do.
"Rainer, please bring all of the boxes inside."
After showing his appreciation, he stood up straight. Giving Cathy a tender smile, he told her, "Cathy,
you deserve every bit of it! Possibly even more! Carla means the world to me. Saving her is just the
same as saving my life. That means you have saved both of us! Please accept all these gifts!
Compared to everything you've done for my wife and my child, they are worth nothing!"
After saying that, the bodyguards proceeded to walk in one after the other.
Carla watched as they went in and opened the backpacks that they were carrying. There were bags of
cash stored inside them.
Because Terence had kept this a secret from Carla, she was just as surprised as Cathy and Duke were
at that moment.
Prior to them coming here for the visit, Terence had asked her before about their living situation in the
village. As soon as he found out that they had no access to any nearby bank, he decided to bring them
some cash as well.
After all, nothing could possibly be more useful than money.
Cathy and Duke were left at such a loss for words when they saw the wads of cash. Their mouths were
left wide open for quite a while.
"Mr. Terence, Carla, we are living deep in the mountain. There aren't even any stores in here. To tell
you the truth, we don't really know where to spend all that money,"
Cathy stated when she finally pulled herself together. Her voice felt like it was about to break.
"Please don't worry about it! Mr. Terence already went ahead and directly contacted the local
government. And he came up with a project to develop this place. Before they're even done with the
project, we will have a boat ready by the riverside, which would be available day in and day out, waiting
to take you anywhere you need to go!"
Rainer politely explained the situation to them.
One of the major reasons Cathy's family had to stay in this poor place was because there was just no
way for them to leave due to the uneven terrain that they had in there. The other reason was because
their family had been the guardians of this place for generations now. Because of that, they couldn't
easily leave just like that.
There were only a handful of families residing in this village. The government had no intention of
spending that much money to build a road just for them.
Be that as it might, it appeared that things were going to be very different this time around.
"We can't possibly accept that! Carla, could you please tell your husband to stop what he's doing? You
can't let him go around burning money like that! You know just how far away this place is to the outside
world! Please say something to make him stop!"
Cathy said as she shook her head and refused the money.
Years ago, the government had estimated that it would cost a little over ten billion to build a road
heading to the area. The huge amount of the expenses made the government steer clear of this place.
And now that years had passed, it would most definitely cost even more.
