Love In Twilight By Tiny Mountains Chapter 172

Chapter 172 He Wasn’t Here to witness the Show

At Pentatone County, Clarissa’s grandmother’s house,

“What did you think of President Dincht? It wasn’t easy getting him to agree to have a blind date with

you, you know. You weren’t interested in that guy from your father’s work because you found him too

poor, and you don’t like the other salespeople in your company. You’ve already had so many blind

dates during the holidays. Why have none of them caught your eye?” Cindy kept nagging Connie.

“He’s past forty, has a beer belly, and is divorced with kids! I wanted to puke the moment saw him.”

Connie was in a bad mood.

By now, she had already found out that Clarissa’s husband was in truth Damien Lawrence.

He wasn’t Clarissa’s sugar daddy.

She was so jealous!

When she saw the house deed, she found out that the house didn’t belong to Luke. It was actually

under Damien and Clarissa’s names.

She pushed Luke for an answer, to which he told her that they were married. Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.

Damien and Clarissa were married!

The disparity between Connie and Clarissa couldn’t be more obvious. Connie was a thousand steps

behind Clarissa.

She recalled what a fool she had made of herself in the office. Her colleagues hadn’t been making fun

of Clarissa; they’d been making fun of her.

Her time in Genovia had made her a laughingstock.

During the holidays, she went on several blind dates in hopes of meeting her Prince Charming. But

aside from middle-aged men with beer bellies, all the men she met were perverts…

There had been a few who weren’t half bad, but at the thought of Damien’s handsome elegance,

Connie couldn’t help feeling like these men didn’t even deserve to be called men.

Currently, Connie was on a long leave. She hadn’t resigned.

She would still go back to Genovia, back to New East Corporation.

If she couldn’t live a happy life, she wouldn’t allow Clarissa to either.

The flowers Clarissa had received were actually from Connie. She had won them in a raffle during the

holidays. The flowers were so huge, there was no space in her house for them. As a single lady,

Connie didn’t have any use for them anyway. She decided to send them to Clarissa anonymously, all to

drive a wedge between Clarissa and Damien…

“Cindy! Cindy, my head’s been hurting for so long, but I didn’t tell you about it. It’s like there’s a needle

in my brain,” Connie’s grandmother called out weakly from her room.

“Old fogey!” Cindy spat. “Live with it! You don’t have many days to live, anyway.”

Cindy was furious as well.

Clarissa had made sure to wash the old fogey’s sheets thoroughly last time, making it seem like Cindy

was mistreating the old woman.

Cindy was even more upset now that she knew Clarissa had married a rich person.

“Cindy! Cindy…” Connie’s grandmother called out again.

“Oh, shut up, you old fogey! Do you know how much money we’ll have to spend for you to see a

doctor? You’d just be taking up space!” Cindy shouted at the top of her lungs.

An idea occurred to Connie.

“Mom, we don’t have any money, but we have someone rich in the family, don’t we?” She shot Cindy a

look. “Aunt Theresa loves her mother so much that she came to visit her the moment she was out of

her coma. I bet she won’t be able to stand by and watch her mother suffer. That means Clarissa will

have to fork out money, doesn’t it?”

“You’re right! And this will make us look good, too. Let’s get the old fogey and go to the hospital.

Remember to keep a record of the taxi fare and get your aunt to pay us back,” Cindy said.

They finally got the old lady into a car.

Cindy called Theresa.

“Theresa, mom’s sick.” Cindy was a good actress, and started crying immediately. “Her head hurts, and

I’m taking her to the hospital now. She’s almost ninety, and I don’t know how many days she has left to

live. Who knows whether she’ll be able to make it out of the hospital this time? Hurry and come to see

her.”

Theresa was stunned. “I’ll be there right away!”

She wondered whether to tell Clarissa about this.

Theresa felt that since Clarissa was at work at the moment, Theresa didn’t want to disturb her. Clarissa

couldn’t keep playing hooky simply because of her relationship with Damien

Theresa decided to ascertain her mother’s condition before doing anything else.

She requested Mrs. Cole to hail her a taxi, and then headed to the hospital.

Connie knew there was a chance Theresa wouldn’t tell Clarissa about this, so she called Clarissa

“Clarissa, our grandmother’s sick. It might be something serious. Her head’s been aching non-stop.

Can you come to Thompson Hospital if it’s convenient? We‘re getting her

*}

checked right now. I haven’t even gone back to work after the holidays ended! was taking care of her. I

don’t think she has much time left.” After that, Connie started crying

She just didn’t want Clarissa to be happy. It would be best if Damien came with her, so he could see for

himself how poor her family was. There was no way he could handle such a huge family, and he’d be

better off dumping her.

Anyway, these rich people got married and divorced all the time. Marriage was a game to them.

Damien would be better off getting together with someone rich.

This was what Connie thought.

Clarissa then told Janet about this before rushing to Pentatone County as soon as possible.

She had forgotten all about buying Damien underwear.

Clarissa and Theresa arrived at Thompson Hospital at the same time.

Cindy and Connie were crying in the corridor.

“The results are out. Mom has a brain tumor, and it’s bad. No wonder she’s been peeing all over the

place recently. The tumor’s been pressing on her nerves, and she would’ve been paralyzed if we hadn’t

brought her here. We don’t have money, though! Connie’s just got herself a job at New East

Corporation, but it can’t help much. Your uncle doesn’t have any money, either. We love Mom too, but

we honestly don’t have the money to pay for an operation.” Cindy made sure to cry as earnestly as she

could.

“How much do we need?” Theresa asked nervously,

“The doctor said that she has to be operated on immediately, and we have to pay a deposit of three

hundred thousand dollars, Cindy said

Connie kept her eyes on Clarissa the entire time. Don’t tell me the wife of a rich person can’t even fork

out such a small sum And if she does, how’s she going to explain this to Damien?’

It was too bad Damien wasn’t here to witness the show, though.
