Lost and Found: Return of My Mysterious Fiancee

Chapter 747: The Purpose of Kylie Lambert

Kylie Lambert gnawed at her fingernails, biting through the skin of her thumb without even realizing it. Blood reddened her lips, and the sting of saliva on the wound made her wince. As she snapped back to reality, she remembered she couldn't just sit back and do nothing. Pulling out her phone, she made a call.

"Why didn't you set me up with a better identity when you created one for me? I can't take all this online hate anymore!"

"Now everyone's calling me a slut, and I can't even step outside without being swarmed by paparazzi!"

Kylie paced her room, frantic.

"I don't care, you have to fix this for me. Otherwise, I'll tell the family!"

She gasped for air, her breathing heavy. The curtains in her room were drawn tightly shut. Since last night, the building across had been swarming with cameras, everyone eager to get a scoop on her. How much longer would Kylie Lambert have to endure this?

Yesterday, if Tina hadn't kidnapped her from her apartment, she wouldn't have even had the chance to escape to the suburban villa. The more she thought about it, the angrier she got, considering that she was supposed to be a respected little princess in the Langdon family. Just a mission gone wrong, and her reputation had plummeted, worse than a stray dog's.

On the other end of the phone, the person seemed unaffected by her anger, pausing before responding with a cool tone, "You brought this on yourself, so you deal with it. Kylie Lambert, no matter how many other tasks you've taken on, your only mission here is to handle Jared, and right now, you're on the verge of failing that!"

"What do you mean by that?!"

Kylie retorted, shocked and defensive.

"So, you're saying you don't trust me? Fine, I'm out. Don't think you're the only ones who can reverse the energy channels; the Langdon family has plenty of people who can do it too. Tonight, I'll go to them and we'll see what happens when they find out you've stolen their techniques."

She should never have agreed to work with these people! If only she hadn't been injected with poison, she never would have agreed to take on this mission.

"Just calm down," the voice on the other line, indistinct in gender, advised.

"Maybe this isn't all bad."

Kylie almost laughed out of sheer frustration.

"Then just wait and see, because I'm willing to risk everything to make sure you don't get away with this!"

On the other end, in the darkness, someone seemed annoyed by the noise. They moved the phone away until Kylie finished speaking, then brought it back to their ear. Their thin lips curled into a mocking smile as they patiently said, "This isn't just about you getting caught in the storm. Those who've been seen with you are also in deep trouble. There's a saying: the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Why not try asking them for help? You might be surprised by the outcome." Elsewhere, in the suburbs.

In a lush, dense forest, a castle-like villa stood. Tina and Jayden stood outside, looking at the ivy-covered walls, their expressions thoughtful.

"Didn't expect to find such a place out here," Jayden said, frowning.

"Young master, are you sure we should go in?"

Given their boldness, an ambush wouldn't be surprising.

Tina raised her hand, signaling the team members to step aside. She strode towards the grand doors of the ancient castle under Jayden's astonished gaze, suggesting that the place was frequently inhabited, as there were no signs of it being outdated. Even the brass ring on the door shone brightly. Wearing gloves, Tina grasped the ring with one hand and pulled with force.

"Young master!"

"Serena!"

Jayden and Cole, who had rushed over, had their pupils dilate as they shouted, their bodies already moving forward. Tina glanced back, her expression inscrutable: "There's nothing."

She spoke, and even kicked the now-opened castle door. Jayden and Cole were left speechless. Why wasn't she following the usual script? It seemed that woman truly only intended to teach Tina a lesson. Describing their passage as unobstructed would be an understatement.

Crossing the vast courtyard to the villa's main hall, they found the entire castle devoid of anyone else but themselves. Even the living room where Tristan was tied up was unguarded. Jayden and Cole, initially vigilant, now numb, kicked aside a sofa blocking their path and advanced towards Tristan.

"Whimper!"

In the living room, Tristan was tightly bound to the largest pillar with hemp rope, his mouth sealed with black tape. A black-framed box hung at his waist, containing a vial of green liquid that swayed with his movements. Tristan shook his head desperately, signaling them not to come closer.

However, no one heeded his warning.

Jayden and Cole quickly approached, and as expected, nothing happened. They pursed their lips, containing their irritation at being underestimated, and ripped the tape from Tristan's mouth.

"Tristan, seriously, how could you end up like this? You were just supposed to follow someone; how could you get tied up here?"Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.

Cole joked, stepping aside for Tina.

Tristan had no time for banter.

"Serena! You all need to leave, now! This isn't just a bomb; it's a biological weapon! If it explodes, we're all dead. Get out of here!" "Shut up."

Tina's ears ached from his shouting.

"Cole, tape his mouth again, he's too noisy."

Cole chuckled, "Alright. Don't blame me, though-I can't disobey Serena!"

"Mmmph," Tristan glared, cursing Cole internally. Once he was safe, he'd surely get his revenge.

Cole, misunderstanding, took it as gratitude.

"No need to thank me, we're brothers after all. Just don't forget to treat me to a big meal later." Tristan thought: Who's thanking you?!

Jayden's lips twitched at the side. The young master's brothers were indeed not normal.

While the two bantered, Tina had successfully dismantled the bomb. She beckoned to a teammate standing by, who carefully placed the biological weapon into a prepared black box.

"Let's talk back at base," she said, dusting off her hands. Her gaze swept over Cole indifferently. She shelved her thoughts of settling scores and turned to leave.

"Hold it right there!"

Suddenly, a harsh shout echoed as a group of people in black cloaks rushed in. Armed with long guns and swords, they surrounded them. Tina and the members of the Mountain Veil Order gathered together, with Cole supporting Tristan at the back, cursing, "I knew that woman wouldn't be so kind. Looks like she was waiting for us here!"

As he spoke, more footsteps sounded outside the door.
