Chapter 393
My Only Daughter
Harper was still feeling unwell and disoriented, barely grasping the meaning of his words.
Yet, feeling the warmth of his body and his unique scent, she slowly realized what he was trying to convey.
Harper didn't speak, simply letting him hold her.
The doctor's examination results were out. Everything was good with the baby, and their previous worries could now be put to rest.
While Benjamin stepped away to take a phone call, the doctor, with a smile, told Harper, "Mr. Martin really cares about you. It's clear he will be a wonderful father and a loving husband."
The doctor was Julie's mentor, hence the absence of formalities.
His words made Harper blush slightly, embarrassed.
She could clearly feel his concern, but it all seemed too surreal.
Harper left the doctor's office just as Benjamin, having finished his call, returned to the doorway. Seeing her, he asked, "What did the doctor say?"
"Everything's good."
"That's good," Benjamin replied softly.
He casually took the examination form from her hand, placed his phone in his pocket, and naturally took her hand.
Feeling the warm temperature of his palm, a wave of warmth seemed to flow through Harper's heart as well.
They walked to the car parked in the garage, and it was only then that Benjamin spoke softly. "Mom knows we came for a prenatal checkup and wants to meet up for a shopping trip. Do you want to go?" "Is Lily already here?"
"Not yet. She's on her way. So, do you want to go?"
Harper nodded, she looked at Benjamin, and said, "Of course, we should go. It would be rude to turn down Lily's kindness, and besides, we haven't gone shopping together in a long time." "Okay." His voice was slightly hoarse.
Harper looked puzzled. "What's wrong?"
"Just the two of you going?" Benjamin asked softly. Please check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.
"Isn't Lily the one who invited me out?" Harper replied.
"Does he want to come too?
Doesn't he have to work?" Harper thought.
Lily arrived quickly, and they set off in Benjamin's car, but before they left, she cunningly pulled Harper to sit in the back with her.
Benjamin, resigned, said, "You're treating me like the driver now?"
"One is your wife, one is your mother, and there's also your child on the way. Don't you feel honored to drive for these three?" Lily retorted as if it was the most natural thing in the world. Benjamin just smiled, replying lightly, "Yes, you're right, it's my honor."
Harper also showed a soft smile, finding genuine joy and comfort in Lily's company.
The conversation between the women flowed easily, starting with the results of the check-up and then moving on to discussions about the baby's arrival. They chatted endlessly, completely ignoring Benjamin.

Following the address Lily provided, the car stopped in a mall's parking garage half an hour later.
Lily took Harper's hand, explaining, "I
had some clothes custom-made for you and the baby. They called me last night to say everything was ready so I wanted to bring you here
today to see if you like ev
"Lily, it would help if you hadn't gone through the trouble. The baby is still tiny, so that we could buy clothes closer to birth or even after."
"How could I wait? We can delay buying for the baby, but not for you. You are Benjamin's wife, and I want you to be the most beautiful pregnant woman."
Inside the boutique, the manager
quickly brought out the
custom-made clothes. Lily urged Harper t try them on. The clothes were loose yet flattering in the right places. From the back, one couldn't even tell Harper was pregnant.
With Harper's natural beauty and radiant complexion, it was even more accessible to overlook her pregnancy.
