Chapter 821: Let Them Collect Her Corpse for Her!
Zane made several calls on his way to South Park, but Yanis never answered her phone.
Meanwhile, at the thirty-second floor of South Park, thick smoke billowed out as the temperature
caused the glass to shatter.
Shouts and cries filled the air below.
Some people called the police, while others called the fire department.
Security guards used megaphones to evacuate the residents from the building.
The entire South Park complex was in chaos.
Yanis felt as though she couldn't even breathe. The smoke filled her lungs, making her cough
uncontrollably.
Neve lay there, finding it difficult to make out the photos on the wall through the smoke. She sat up and
looked at Yanis, who was leaning against a cabinet. "Are you scared?"
Yanis tried to answer but ended up inhaling more smoke with a gasp.
The suffocating sensation prevented Yanis from uttering a word.
However, Neve seemed unaffected. She got off the bed and walked over to Yanis. "I know you're
terrified. Are you waiting for Zane to come and save you?"
Yanis opened her eyes and looked at Neve, but her vision remained blurry.
Just as Yanis was about to give up, a loud banging on the door echoed through the room. Faintly, she
could hear a voice that belonged to someone special.
Despite the cacophony, Yanis heard it.
Yanis suddenly burst into laughter.
After hearing Yanis's laughter, Neve looked at her. "What's so funny?"
"Zane is outside. Don't you want to see him?" Yanis replied.
Upon hearing Yanis's words, Neve furrowed her brow. "He can't possibly be here so quickly." All content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
Yanis held her breath and slowly adjusted her breathing. "Neve, why did you suddenly want to die?"
Before Neve could respond, Yanis continued, "When I heard you were going to be released on bail, I
was thinking that if... cough, if you were to come out, I wouldn't have anything to do with you anymore.
We could each go our separate ways, without bothering each other..."
"Cough... But I never imagined that as soon as you got out, cough... cough..."
"You were so eager to drag me down with you, even at the cost of your own life. Is that worth it?"
Neve sneered, "With you accompanying me in death, what's not worth it?"
Yanis propped herself up and looked at Neve. "Deep down, you don't really want to die, do you?"
After staring at Yanis for a few seconds, Neve finally spoke, "Yanis, I suddenly regret it."
Yanis hadn't yet grasped the meaning behind Neve's regret when Neve pulled her up from the ground.
Due to inertia, Yanis bumped into the wall upon standing up. Neve caught her and dragged her towards
the door.
The living room was now completely engulfed in flames.
Crackling sounds filled the air, and the banging on the door continued.
Using her last ounce of strength, Yanis grabbed onto Neve. "Be careful..."
After being pulled by Yanis, Neve looked down and saw broken glass on the floor. She was barefoot.
Neve glanced back at Yanis and then helped her sit on a nearby dining table chair. She then walked
towards the door.
Due to the fire, the temperature in the room had risen significantly, compounded by the already hot
weather. It felt like being trapped in a furnace, unbearably scorching.
Neve opened the door and swiftly pushed Yanis to the side. She grabbed a dagger from a nearby table
and placed it precisely against Yanis's neck.
At that moment, Zane was the first to squeeze through the crowd and enter.
"Neve!" Zane shouted in a deep voice.
Neve smiled. "Zane, long time no see."
Zane's gaze fixated on the dagger pressed against Yanis's neck. "Stay calm."
Glancing at the firefighters who had started to extinguish the fire, Neve looked back at Zane. "Zane,
come over here."
Zane took hesitant steps towards Neve and Yanis. Just as he was about to approach, Neve suddenly
spoke, "Stop!"
Zane's steps froze in mid-air and he remained where he stood.
The firefighters behind him also watched Neve warily, afraid that she might make a reckless move that
would seal Yanis's fate.
"Brother," Neve suddenly looked towards the door and called out to Adam, who was standing there.
Adam raised an eyebrow and stepped inside. "Put down what you're holding and let's talk."
Neve smiled. "Brother, you wanted to replace Zane, didn't you? There are ropes in the cabinet beside
you. Help me tie him up."
Upon hearing Neve's words, Adam furrowed his brow. "What are you planning?"
"If you won't help, then..."
Neve smiled and glanced at Albi by the door. "Albi, come on."
Albi looked at Zane and hesitated. "Miss Bennett..."
"I'll handle it," Adam interrupted Albi and turned to retrieve a rope from a nearby cabinet. He
approached Zane, flipped him over, and securely tied him up. Once done, Adam looked at Neve.
"What's next?"
Neve looked at Zane and said, "Zane, you can come over now."
After Neve's words, Zane finally approached Neve.
Yanis could barely make out the person walking towards her. "Zane..."
Zane was about to bend down to speak to Yanis when Neve forcefully pressed the dagger deeper
against Yanis's neck. "Zane, stay away from her."
Zane froze, then straightened up.
Neve stared at the dwindling fire, her gaze turning cold. "Zane, tell them to stop and get out!"
Zane frowned. "If there's something you want, just tell me. I'll try to give you everything."
"What if I say I want you?" Neve met Zane's gaze and spoke each word with emphasis.
Before Zane could respond, Neve's voice suddenly turned hysterical. "Everyone, get out! Get out!"
The firefighters were eager to extinguish the remaining flames as quickly as possible.
"Albi, get them out!" Zane shouted at Albi, his eyes fixed on Yanis's bleeding neck.
Albi naturally noticed the dagger in Neve's hand, pressed against Yanis's neck, with blood trickling
down.
"I'll count to three, and if you don't leave, I'll make you collect her corpse!" Neve yelled at the crowd,
with the fire almost completely subdued.
The firefighters hesitated for a few seconds before retreating.
Luckily, by this time, the flames were mostly extinguished.
There was still time for another rescue in case of an emergency. In order to ensure Yanis's safety, the
firefighters, along with a few police officers, Albi, and Adam, all retreated.
