CHAPTER LXXXII
~~~
CHASE’S DARK EYES didn’t flutter for a second as he stared out of his study room window at the petite girl playing around with her cat in the garden and a wide smile dancing on her lips, oblivious to his unwavering stares.
“I love you,”
Even after a week of hearing those three words, they still rang like bells in his head, reminding him that he was yet to break another person’s heart just like he had done to Saige.
He couldn’t love Sophia. He was incapable of love because he wasn’t made for it. That strong feeling didn’t exist in his world because it was destructive, at least, that was what he was taught.
But then, the fact that love wasn’t an existing feeling in their world wasn’t the problem. The main problem was from him. The main problem was him. He was the main problem.
He couldn’t reciprocate those feelings because reciprocating them would be as good as giving Sophia hopes for the future, and they didn’t have a future together. He couldn’t have a future together with anyone because he wouldn’t be there for it. He wanted to destroy his uncle and father’s hard work and dreams for the Romano empire. That would be the only way to end the torture he was going through. Ending the torture was ending the empire and himself.
Once he was done burning down the Romano empire to ashes for his dad to see, he would make sure to be there to watch his father end his own life in a painful and agonizing way. That was the only reason he had allowed his father to live else the man would’ve been long gone even before his own brother.
After his father, he himself would follow next. He would kill himself and allow his cousins to live a peaceful life.
That was his only aim, and he couldn’t let Sophia’s feelings come in the way.
Chase slid both of his hands in his pockets and brought out a cigar and lighter. He lighted the cigar and returned the lighter back to his pocket, then placed the cigar between his lips. He took a long drag from the cigar and puffed it out.
As if feeling his gaze on her, Sophia spun and their eyes met. Chase’s breath hitched in his throat when she waved at him with a smile and turned away to continue playing with Charlie. A sigh left his lips as he realized that he hadn’t stared into her eyes for a whole week and it was making him lose his mind.
Ever since she told him about her feelings, he hadn’t been able to look at her. He solely ignored her and didn’t go to his room unless she left in the morning after sleeping over there in the night. He was aware she needed that much comfort.
He heard a small, gentle knock on the door and that was when he blinked his eyes away from the suddenly empty spot he was staring at. He had been too lost in his thoughts to even realize Sophia had left the garden.NôvelDrama.Org exclusive content.
He drew the curtains and turned away from the window, then faced the door. “Come in,”
The door opened, and Sophia walked in with Charlie in her arms. “You’ve been ignoring me for a week. Did I do anything wrong this time?”
He dropped the cigar in the ashtray and locked eyes with her. “Why then did you decide to confront me about it today. You should’ve done that the moment you realized how I was behaving towards you,”
“You didn’t give me any chance to meet you, chase, “She replied.
Chase narrowed his eyes at her. “If this is about your infatuation, stop it,”
Sophia blanched, and her grip on Charlie loosened. The cat jumped down from her arms and ran out of the room. “You think I’m infatuated by you?”
Chase remained indifferent. “I don’t think so. I know,”
“No, you don’t. If you knew a thing, you wouldn’t have ignored me for a week because I told you how I felt about you,” She said, frustration clear in her voice.
“You’re still a teenager, Sophia. You aren’t even up to twenty. You don’t know anything about love,” He said, picking up a book from his shelf.
She retorted back fiercely. “Age isn’t required when it comes to love, Chase!”
Chase said nothing. He simply stared at her without saying a word. He watched as her chest rose and fell slightly and then, back into her eyes. “Have you studied?”
Sophia’s lips parted, but no sound came out. She cleared her throat. “What do you mean by that? We’re talking about my love, and you suddenly decided to change the topic to something else?”
Chase walked towards her and stopped when he was directly in front of her that she had to crane her neck so she would be able to look at him in the eye. “I’m not trying to change the topic, Gattina,” He raised his hands and rubbed his knuckles over her cheek, feeling her shiver at his touch as his rings slightly brushed her skin. “I simply care about your future,”
Sophia opened her mouth to say something, but the only sound that came out was a wince. She blinked at him, trying to understand what this was all about. She had been talking about her love, but then the whole topic was changed. Her heart screamed at her to move away from him and continue what she was saying, but she didn’t. She couldn’t. His touch was doing things to her and her mind was fogged up. She had suddenly lost her senses. “Ch -Chase,”
“Tell me what you want,” He leaned in, happy that his little distraction game was working. He could clearly see her resolve breaking. “Tell me what you want, and I’ll give it to you,”
Without realizing it, she blurted out. “You,”
Chase smiled at her and his other hand went to her waist, holding her in a firm grip. He stopped caressing her cheek and cupped the cheek. Leaning closer, he whispered against her lips. “Good thing, I want the same,” When Sophia said nothing and only clutched his suit lapels in her fists, he brushed their lips slightly. “I want you,”
“Chase, we-,”
“Don’t you want me?” He asked, staring into her eyes. “You just said it that you want me. What’s the matter now?”
“Chase, I-,”
Chase gently pushed her to the door, locking it in place. “You promised you were mine,” He kissed the side of her lips. “Remember?”
“I-I know,”
“Then, if you want the same thing, why are you trying to stop me?” He rubbed his erection through his pants on her thigh as he grazed the tip of his nose on her cheeks. “Do you feel how badly I want you? Don’t deny us both the satisfaction,”
She didn’t know why she was trying to stop it when she really wanted him as much as he did. “Chase, I-,”
“Kiss me, Gattina,” He whispered, licking her earlobe, then her neck, sucking on the skin. “Kiss me,”
That was all it took for Sophia to fall for Chase’s little seduction. She gripped both sides of his face and pulled him up so she could have access to his lips. Without wasting a second, she placed her lips on his’.
Chase growled and tilted her head to the side so as to deepen the kiss. His hand that had cupped her cheek travelled to the nape of her neck as he felt her burying her hands in his hair, tugging at the ends of his curls.
Sophia moaned against his lips. “Chase -”
“I can’t control myself, Gattina,” He murmured against her lips, pulling away to stare at her lust-clouded eyes. “I’m going to take you here in my office,”
Sophia smiled gently, leaning in to kiss him again. “You’ve done it before. It won’t cause any harm to do so this time. Take me on your desk,” She locked their lips again.
Chase placed both of his palms on her thighs and raised them up. Sophia jumped and wrapped her legs around his waist, wrapping her arms around his neck as he deepened the kiss.
Chase kneaded both of her butt in his large palms and she let out a moan, arching her back. Once he reached his desk, he shoved all the things on it to the ground, and placed her on it, before running his dilated eyes over her body and she squirmed under his gaze.
Chase ripped her shirt from the neckline in the middle, and she gasped. He leaned in to attack her collarbone. “I always get you new clothes. Replacing this one won’t be a problem at all,”
Sophia unbuttoned his suit coat and shrugged it off his shoulders. As she struggled to unbutton his waist coat, she groaned. “You wear too many clothes!” She smacked his chest, earning a laugh from him. Even the sound of his laugh seemed to turn her on even more.
“I don’t need to take off my shirts, Gattina,” He unbuckled his belt. His hands reached her back, and he unclasped her bra, flinging it across the room. “You’re mine. Say it,” He dipped his head and wrapped his lips around one of her tits.
