Her Precious Baby

Chapter 32

Chapter 32

“Quick! Chase her!”

Angeline’s heart skipped a beat when she heard that. She turned the corner and took longer strides. However, her high heels were hindering her speed, so she undid the straps and ran down the stairs.

Soon, the paparazzi lost sight of her.

“This woman should’ve become an athlete.” The man carrying the camera was sweating profusely from running. “Don’t just stand there. Split up and look for her, especially at the entrances. She couldn’t have gone far.”

Angeline noticed that the sky was gray when she stepped out of the hotel entrance. With a loud thunderclap, the rain began to fall without warning.

Many distinguished guests were standing at the entrance, blaming the heavens for the unfavorable weather as they got into their cars.

Angeline looked anxiously at the time on her phone. D*mn! Has the car that Nancy called for me broken down? Why is it not here yet?

As the people at the entrance slowly left one after another, Angeline knew she could not stay there any longer or she would risk getting discovered.

Hence, she jogged in the rain to the roadside and put her hand out to hail a cab. Just as she opened the door and was about to get in, the driver said impatiently, “Miss, please hail another cab. Someone has already booked a ride.”

Noticing the paparazzi looking around at the hotel entrance, Angeline gritted her teeth and pleaded, “I’ll give you more money.”

“I can’t accept it. It’s against the rules!”

The driver did not have the patience to hang around with her, so he reached out and closed the door. In his hurry, he failed to notice that Angeline’s pant leg was caught in the door.

“Wait! My clothes…” Just as she was about to remind him, the driver stepped on the accelerator and drove away.

Angeline leaned forward and ran a few steps. Then, followed by a ripping noise, a piece of fabric was torn from her right pant leg, revealing her pale and slender thigh.

What awful luck! I just can’t catch a break.

Angeline felt down in the dumps. Despite being thoroughly drenched in rainwater, she dared not return to the party and could only take out her phone and call for a private cab.

Honk!

Angeline had not gone far when a dazzling light illuminated the road. She covered her eyes with her hand, and because of that, she could not see the license plate number and only saw that it was a black MPV.

Thinking that it was the private cab she had called, she quickly stopped the car and opened the door to the back seat.

“Hey! Ms. Sorelle, you…”

Only after hearing Sylas’ reminder out of goodwill from the driver’s seat did Angeline raise her head, and a chill went up her body from the soles of her feet.

Evander was seated in the back seat with his long legs crossed and a cigarette between his slender fingers, his expression dark and unfathomable.

When Angeline met his gaze, she froze on the spot.

Evander furrowed his brows, not expecting to meet her again. His thin lips curled into a smirk as his gaze swept over her attire. “Anything I can help you with, Ms. Sorelle?”

“I-I’m sorry. I mistook your car for another,” Angeline faltered, feeling embarrassed and afraid that Evander would misunderstand her behavior like before.

“Okay.”

“Okay?”

Angeline was surprised by his reply.

Evander lifted his head and asked in annoyance, “How long do you plan on blocking my car door?”

Upon hearing that, Angeline came back to her senses and let go of the car door, her face a little red.

“Drive,” Evander instructed coldly. It was apparent that he no longer wished to talk to her.

At that moment, Angeline heard the screams of the paparazzi from behind again. “Come quick! I saw Angeline! Hurry up and stop her!”

Angeline’s heart skipped a beat when she heard that. In her panic, she gritted her teeth and opened Evander’s car door again before jumping in.

By then, Sylas had already begun driving. Startled by her actions, he exclaimed, “Ms. Sorelle, that was really dangerous. What if—”

“Shh!” Sprawled between Evander’s long legs, she placed her index finger on her lips and pleaded in a low voice, “Please drive quickly. I’ll be doomed if the paparazzi discover me.”

Sylas’ heart nearly jumped to his throat when he saw Angeline’s bold action.

No woman has ever been able to get close to Evander Golding!

Evander looked down at her, his handsome face gloomy. He was about to throw her out when he suddenly took in the delicate fragrance on her body, which was different from the usual tacky fragrance.

The delicate orchid scent permeated the air, and he thought it smelled familiar.

“Drive.”

Only after hearing the cold male voice coming from behind did Sylas return to his senses and step on the accelerator.

Angeline poked her head out and was relieved to see that the paparazzi were left far behind.

How tragic! Why can’t I escape the fate of being chased all the time?

“Are you done touching?” Evander’s icy tone lowered the temperature in the entire car. Text © owned by NôvelDrama.Org.

“Huh?”

Angeline took a closer look and held her breath upon noticing that her hand was resting on the spot between his legs.

This is blatant molestation…

“Please hear me out, Mr. Golding. I didn’t touch you on purpose. Oh, no, I didn’t see anything…” she explained in a panic as she quickly withdrew her hand.

“What do you wish to see?” Evander held her chin, his originally cold eyes growing chillier like the frosty winter. “Your hand hasn’t even healed yet, Ms. Sorelle, and you’re already that impatient?”

Angeline’s chin hurt from his grip, and she felt extremely aggrieved. Do I look that insatiable?

Taking a deep breath, she met his gaze and said calmly, “We can talk this out in a civil manner, Mr. Golding. Besides, I’m not as despicable as you think I am. If I truly wanted to seduce you, I would’ve made my move in the lounge. Why would I bother to put on such a show and put myself in such a wretched state?”

Evander’s gaze landed on Angeline’s feet. As she was not wearing shoes, her toes were covered with mud and there were shallow cuts on them from being scratched by tree branches.

His icy gaze softened a little as he took out a bottle of mineral water from the base of the luxury seat and a pair of disposable white slippers from the hotel. He handed both items to her and said in a deep voice, “Handle it yourself, and don’t dirty my car.”

Angeline’s lips pressed into a thin line. She washed the dirt off her feet with the mineral water, and after she put on the slippers, her frozen feet regained their warmth.

She then cleaned up the mud stains in the car before smiling at the man seated on the other side of the back seat. “Thank you, Mr. Golding. Sorry for troubling you again.”

Well, he helped me avoid the paparazzi, after all. I should at least be polite.

“You’re truly troublesome,” Evander remarked in a harsh tone.

Angeline blushed in embarrassment upon hearing his words. However, she was not a shameless person as she said, “We’re reaching the city center soon. Just drop me off there.”

Right then, a phone rang. Evander took out his phone from his pocket, and after seeing the name on the screen, he answered without hesitation.

Amid the noise coming from the other end of the line was a childish female voice. “Daddy, you promised to come home and accompany me, but you broke your promise again. I’ve been waiting for you for a long time,” the child sobbed.
