Falling for my Ex-Fiancee’s Best friend

Life goes on..

With their eyes locked in and Demelza’s heart beating very fast. She couldn’t afford to make mistakes or do anything at the moment. She was feeling a lot and kissing Adrian would only add to her list of worries. She turned her face away the second Adrian’s lips got too close to her face. She turned her whole body to the side not wanting to look at him.

“I’m sorry.” Adrian apologized and left the room to stop making her feel uncomfortable.

“Stupid.” He muttered to himself immediately he shut the door of the room. He was upset with himself at the moment because he felt that he was too forward. After throwing his legs in the air in annoyance, he made his way to the guest room.

Demelza still remained on the same spot using her hands to touch her lips with her eyes closed as she imagined it was Nathan she had almost kissed. She stayed there for a while as she tortured herself with mere thoughts and imagination. Without realizing it, tears began rolling down her eyes.

She cried for a few minutes before turning to the bathroom to take her bath. Immediately she opened the door of the bathroom, she was wowed with what she saw. She was instantly struck by its vibrant color of royal blue.

After filling her eye, she switched the water heater to hot. She wanted a hot bath after the kind of day she had. All she needed at that moment was a good quiet sleep which she was happy that the room would give to her.

She undressed and dropped her clothes on the floor while she walked under the shower, closing her eyes.

With the feeling of refreshment, she hummed as she walked into the room. She paused immediately when she got into the room realizing she had no spare clothes to put on and she didn’t want to ask Adrian for clothes to avoid a weird scenario.

After dabbing water off her body with the towel she had tied around her chest, she walked the closet and opened it. She was absolutely stunned to see how much expensive clothes he had there.

With her mouth agape, she stood there looking. Nathan was rich but she never got the chance to see his stuff like she saw this one. At that moment, she felt tempted to go out and ask him what he does for a living but fear struck her mind and she whispered to herself “it is better not to know.” She warmed herself that way because she believed that what a person doesn’t know would not kill. It is a silly statement she made up whenever she is being nosy.

A part of her felt safe but another part of her felt insecure after all the luxury she just saw. She shrugged every bad feeling aside and went through the clothes in there. She looked for something very casual she could put on for the night.

“Finally,” she expressed happily. It took her a while to find a shirt that would fit her a bit and wouldn’t swallow her up. From her observation, Adrian should be over six feet tall with a few inches and his body is built; obviously a person that goes to the gym.

She shrugged her shoulders and climbed to the bed to sleep. She couldn’t stress her eyes to remain open any longer plus she needed the rest.

Finally on the bed she picked up her phone to see the notifications she had but soon fell asleep. As the morning sun gently filtered through the curtain linen, it slowly casted a warm glow in the room and a little bit of its rays in Demelza’s face. She stirred on the bed and rubbed her eyes lazily.

Slowly, she finally opened her eyes, blinking rapidly trying to ward off the sleep. she stretched her arms above her head, as she felt the softness of the sheets against her skin.Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.

She yawned as she swung her legs over the edge of the bed and sat up, her feet on the floor and her toes stretched out from her coldness on the floor.

As she stretched her body some more, she could feel her bones cracking in adjustment to a new dawn.

Demelza looked around and her eyes met a tray of food causing her eyes to widen. Mornings like this should be everyday, no stress. She thought to herself.

She couldn’t help but enjoy the aroma of freshly brewed coffee wafting the air. With her curiosity piqued, she reached out and picked up the tray placing it in her laps, feeling the warmth radiating from the cup. She picked the cup and took a sip, relishing the rich, smooth flavor that danced on her tongue. The coffee energized her, instantly chasing away all the remnants of drowsiness left in her eyes.

Looking into the tray, she saw a note on it and picked it up to read. Her face lightened up with a smile in anticipation of what Adrian had written on it.

“You must be awake now, I couldn’t wake you up because you looked so peaceful asleep. I hope you like the breakfast I kept for you. I’ll see you when I get back from work.”

She smiled after reading it but a part of her felt uncomfortable. She feels like she was leading him on because she obviously doesn’t not feel the same way he does.

At that moment, she decided she was going to leave his house and probably find a motel to stay for the time being.

While she kept pacing and having those thoughts, her phone kept ringing non stop which annoyed her. She picked it up and saw over twenty missed calls from her dad and a lot of voice messages from her dad.

She saw there was a text too and decided to check it first but her heart broke when she saw the text.

“Harriet is really sick, it would be nice if you’re home so that I can go out to get the things she needs.”

Demelza’s heart broke reading that and she felt so guilty for leaving how she left.
