Falling for my Ex-Fiancee’s Best friend

I can’t stop thinking about you

Demelza and Adrian both walk into the house and Demelza smiles with satisfaction.

“It wasn’t such a bad idea after all” she muttered to herself.

” You mean?” He asked her confused.

” Nothing, never mind.” She responded realizing she said it out loud. Seeing his house made her not regret leaving home. Maybe a while back, she did but seeing this luxury. She felt she could take the time off her worrisome parents.

Being an only child sucked for her sometimes but she had to deal with it regardless. She took a deep breath in, and decided that she was going to forget all about home that night and think about it probably in the morning.

“Demelza,” Adrian called out, shaking her by the shoulder as she was staring into space. She definitely looked like she had a lot of thoughts in her head.

“Sorry, I spaced out a little.” She apologized.

“It’s totally fine, feel free. Help yourself with anything you need while I go make us dinner. I’m sure you haven’t eaten yet and even if you have, with all that happened you will be famished.” He said to her rolling up his sleeves and heading to the kitchen.

Demelza watched him walk to the kitchen and she couldn’t deny she admired him for a bit but not as much as she did Nathan. Her facial expression dropped upon remembering Nathan which automatically put her in a sullen mood.

“You good?” Adrian asked her, noticing she was still in the same spot and her facial expression wasn’t exactly it anymore. All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.

“Yeah, I’m fine.” She responded with an obvious lie.

” Okay,” Aidan responded by getting about his business in the kitchen.

Demelza walked around and familiarized herself with the house. To her, it was quite weird that he let her move around at will. She liked his choice of color and how the house is furnished.

After feeling like she was being too nosy, she went back to the kitchen to watch him prepare dinner.

“Come help me,” He said to her noticing how she watched him cook.

“Are you sure? I might not know how to prepare the meal,” She responded, trying to avoid standing so close to him.

It was already obvious he has a liking for her and all the extra kind gestures, lunch, saving her, dinner. There was surely an attraction and it wasn’t the same for her.

“C’mon, come over.” He said to her again.

She reluctantly walked towards him and he showed her what to do and how to do it to get a good result. She knew how to cook but not entirely everything. Harriet managed to sponge that way. Most times Harriet usually prepares the dishes alone and just called her to eat. Harriet never liked to stress Demelza.

“You seem not to have an idea about this,” Adrian pointed out.

“Shamelessly, yah. I’m kinda spoiled like that.” Demelza admitted instantly.

“Well, you’ve met me and I’ll teach you a lot.” He said with a smile but he noticed Demelza’s eye brows were furrowed. “Only if you want to learn though.” He added trying not to upset her or make her feel bad.

“It’s fine. I’ll love to learn,” Demelza responded.

“Fine, So I guess we should scale through our first lesson.” He teased her.

“First lesson?” Demelza asked, a bit confused.

“Yeah, this is your first lesson.” He clarified, pointing at what they were doing at the moment.

“Oh!” She exclaimed.

“Yeah.” He answered.

They took quite a while cooking and playing at the same time which lifted Demelza sullen mood and she didn’t think about Nathan a lot.

They both stole glances from each other at different intervals and their eyes met a few times but they never let it stay locked in.

Dinner was soon set and they dishes it out on two plates and sets it on the table. They both washed their hands and cleaned their body afterward before settling down at the table.

“Mmmm,” Demelza let out after tasting the delicious meal.

“I know right.” Adrian said out loud with pride of introducing a very nice meal to her.

“How do I not know this?” She asked rhetorically with her mouth full of food.

“I don’t know. You have obviously been missing.” Adrian responded with a chuckle.

“By the way. Adrian said with a pause looking at her.

“Yeah?” She responded waiting for him to continue talking.

“You can take the master bedroom, I’ll use the guest room. Please feel comfortable, you are safe. And you are welcome to_” he was interrupted by her phone ringing.

“You might wanna get that. It’s been buzzing nonstop.” He said to her,

“Just my parents, they won’t leave me alone.” She said, rolling her eyes.

“Then pick up, just let them know you are safe.” He advised her.

“No, I won’t talk to them. I’ll just drop a text.” Demelza responded stubbornly.

She picked up the phone, texted and turned it off. She couldn’t stand any more calls from them.

The rest of the meal was in silence as the both of them didn’t know what to talk about.

When they got done with the dishes, Adrian picked them up and took them to the sink to wash them. Demelza got up from the table and helped him with the dishes.

When they both got done with it, they dried their hands and Adrian showed her to the bedroom she would sleep in.

When they got there, he opened the door for her to go in. “Aren’t you a gentleman?” She teased.

“One of a kind.” He responded with a bow and a sweet smile.

“If you don’t mind, I need to get down the stuff I’ll need.” He said to her opening the closet to kick the clothes he’ll need for the night.

“No problem at all.” She said to him, smiling.

He picked the necessary thing he needed and walked towards the door but paused when he got to the spot she was standing; for him, it felt like she was a magnet.

Their eyes locked in, they stood looking with their body coming closer.
