Knocked down
Nathan and Hampton are both seated in the bar having their drinks but yet to say anything. The bar was dimly lit and was surrounded by a buzz of conversations. Hampton leaned forward on the table while Nathan leaned backwards. They both enjoy the relaxed atmosphere as it is relaxed and friendly with the clinking of glasses and occasional burst of laughter.
“Are you saying something or not?” Nathan asked Hampton who smiled mischievously.
“You know you do not have to be uptight?” Hampton responded with a question which got Nathan a bit pissed but not enough for Hampton to get a reaction from him.
He smiled and reached for his drink which was resting on the table.
“I’ll leave here in thirty minutes. I have work tomorrow.” Nathan said to Hampton who still had that smile on his face.
“Okay, fine. I need you to delete the file.” Hampton said with so much audacity.
“And why will I do that?” Nathan asked him.
“Because you are my friend and we have come a long way.” Hampton answered.
“oh… you know that? And you threatened to sell my shares to my competitor? Amazing!” Nathan exclaimed, irritated.
“Calm down, Nate.”
“Don’t fucking call me that, you lost the opportunity to do that.” Nathan warned Hampton.
“Alright, fine. Please, you need to delete the file.” Hampton pleaded, trying to swallow his pride.
“Nah, I’m not doing that. That way, we have something against each other. I need the insurance.” Nathan told him sternly.
“Are you doing this because of that slut?” Hampton asked Nathan in disbelief.
“Say that one more time and I promise you will regret it.” Nathan threatened him.
“Damn, bro. Chill. Do you love her that much?” Hampton asked but Nathan did not respond. Instead, he gave Hampton a death stare.
Nathan wondered why he defended her even with how upset he was with her at the moment.
“Fine, then, I’ll set her father free.” Hampton bargained further.
“Pointless, I already did that.” Nathan told Hampton, shocking him so much.
“You’re joking.” Hampton responded.
“I’m not, you’ll see.” Nathan said to him. “I think I’m done here,” Nathan added, gulped his drink, and stood up to leave.
Hampton held his hand to stop him from leaving but Nathan snatched his hand back and walked out of the bar.
Hampton couldn’t say anything else other than watch Nathan leave.
Nathan left the bar feeling unmoved and happy that he was able to put Hampton in his place. He headed home and slumped on his bed immediately he got home from exhaustion.

Sun began setting and its rays shone on Nathan’s curtain. His room was bathed in a soft golden glow from the rays of the sunlight illuminating the room. The curtains danced from the beat of the gentle morning breeze.Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.
Nathan tossed on his bed from the sound of the alarm waking him up. She slowly opened his eyes and closed it immediately from the sun entering his eyes.
After staying still for a few minutes, he finally stretched and got up from the bed. He lazily walked to the kitchen to make coffee. While preparing the coffee, he inhaled the scent and enjoyed every bit of it.
When he got done, he slipped a little, dropped the mug on the table and rushed to the bathroom to have a quick shower. Without wasting much time, he was done taking his bath making him feel refreshed afterwards.
He soon applied body lotion on his body and put on his underwear. He stood for a while trying to picture what to wear but nothing came to his head. He immediately walked to his closet and swung the door open and he stood there staring at the clothes in it.
Still finding it difficult to pick an outfit, he reached out to the first one his hand caught which was a black suit.
He shrugged his shoulders and picked it out. He hurriedly dressed into his fine tailored suit and picked a black shoe to go with it.
He picked up a tie and walked to the mirror to knot it but flung it across the room. He suddenly wasn’t in the mood for a tie. He picked up his perfume and sprayed it a little. His mood was that morning but he had to force himself to work.
That wasn’t a day to miss the office. He checked himself last time and went to the kitchen to finish up his coffee. He couldn’t afford to not be energetic enough for the day. A part of him felt Hampton might stop by the office. Hampton wasn’t the time to accept defeat easily.
When he finished his coffee, he smiled to himself trying to cheer himself up before using the remote to shut down the electricity in the house. He earlier gave his workers a break because he didn’t want anyone around him. He looked around and looked everywhere to be certain everything was in place.
He smiled feeling satisfied and made his way out to the elevator. He hiked as the elevator went down feeling optimistic about the day.
Immediately he got to the ground floor, he made his way out and unlocked his car.
“Good morning, sir.” His chauffeur greeted.
“Good morning. I’ll drive myself today, you can have the day off.” Nathan responded as he got into his car.

The drive was a smooth one and in a few minutes, he got to the office. Immediately he alighted from the car in the front and handed his care keys to the security personnel, he heard his name being called out but a familiar voice.
He turned to see who it was and was a bit annoyed to see her. She wasn’t the first person he wanted to see up on getting to work.
He turned to walk into the office ignoring her but came to an instant halt upon hearing a very loud thud and exclamation.
He turns to see what has happened and he was so shocked to see Demelza laying in the pool of her blood. He dropped the briefcase in his hand and ran towards her.
With so much concern and worry, he fell to his knees looking at her afraid to touch her. He knew it wasn’t safe to move her body as he might worsen her condition.
With shaky hands, he pulled out his phone from his pocket to call 999 and remained on the ground waiting for them to arrive. While he remained on the ground, onlookers stood taking a picture but he was not bothered about it at all. His major concern was Demelza who laid on the ground almost lifeless. He looked around for the driver who had knocked her down but he couldn’t find the person.
