FALLING FOR A HEARTLESS BETA

CHAPTER 30

=-Amber’s POV=-

For several days, I wanted to confront Dale about the words I heard when he made love to me. However, Alpha Jacob came and I didn’t have a chance. Then, he left home without telling me where he was going.

I wanted to call him but I held myself, besides, there’s someone else at home whom I should take care of.

The new maid, an omega like me, whose name was Melanie, was an opportunist woman. Melanie had a talent of provoking my anger. Yes, she was prettier than me, but it wasn’t enough to tempt Dale into sleeping with her.

Knowing Dale, I realized that he was afraid of women, and sometimes, I wondered if I am the only woman who had the opportunity to grace his bed.

Since it has been a habit to stroll in the garden every morning, I was surprised to see Melanie in the garden as well. The woman was in her finery while taking a rest on the swing.

From where I was standing, I could see how pretty she was, but her beauty was only skin-deep. She was mean!

“Hi, Amber! Are you here to have some fresh air?” she asked.

“I am,” I replied kindly.

“I see. Did Master Dale call you? He’s never been home for several days,” she noticed.

“No, and he didn’t have to let us know about his whereabouts, Melanie. We are servants here, and that’s all,” I informed her.

“For now, but sooner or later, Dale will notice my pretty face, and he might want to make me his wife. What do you think?”

“Well, everyone is free to dream, Melanie. Just kept on dreaming.”

“Bitch!”

When I heard him calling me bitch, my nostrils flared in anger. How could she call me that way?

“Bitch? Did you just call me a bitch, Melanie?”

“Yes, because you are a bitch, Amber. Still, you are lucky to be alive until now. After that scandal with Alpha Marcus, I didn’t expect you to stay alive. I heard they were discussing in court killing every omega who has joined the pregnancy program. Lucky you, Master Dale was kind enough, and he vouched for you. He saved your life, bitch,” she said.

“I know that, Melanie,” I lied. Of course, I had no idea that he went through all those troubles just to save my petty life. Once again, he wanted me to live, and yet, he’s the one who’s killing me every single day!

“Ah, I see. That must be the reason why you allowed him to visit your room, right? Because you were indebted to him?”This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.

For a moment, I took several deep breaths to calm down because every single word coming out of Melanie’s mouth was offensive. How dare she concludes that I was sleeping with Dale because I was indebted to the Beta?

“Where did you get that notion, Melanie?”

“It’s just my opinion, Amber. After all, what else could there be? Don’t tell me that you believe he’s really in love with you!”

Then, Melanie laughed out loud.

“Look. If you have nothing else to say, just shut up, Melanie!”

“Wow. Aren’t you so proud of yourself, Amber? Just because you receive his favor means that you’re going to be his wife. He will not marry you, not now, not ever! To him, we are just slaves, and by being his slave, he had every right to use our bodies!”

“You can be right about that, but I doubt if our Master would spare a moment to sleep with you,” I  told Melanie, well, it was an insult that no man would want to sleep with an overuse woman.

“Says who? You know very well, Amber, that you are also not clean. How many times have you let the old Alpha fuck you? Didn’t you scream with pleasure every time he did those things to you? Don’t be a hypocrite, Amber McBride!”

Melanie was right. I had been a hypocrite these past few days. I allowed Dale’s attention to get into my bed, and I even believed that he truly loved me especially when he said those words.

Melanie’s words were never wrong. She spoke the truth. The Beta, being our master, has every right to sleep with me, or her.

What makes me so stupid to believe that something good would happen?

“I’m getting married soon, to Alpha Jacob’s brother. Just let me know if you want to work in my household soon,” I informed Melanie and as expected, she became pale with embarrassment.

“And you believe him? That he’s going to marry you off to a wealthy household?”

I gritted my teeth as I continued to listen to Melanie’s words. If only Dale was around to rebut Melanie’s words but he hasn’t been home for a few days. The last time I saw him was when Alpha Jacob visited for a drink.

They had fun at the gazebo while drinking ice-cold beers, but then when Alpha Jacob left, Dale also left.

“You are not going to marry into a rich household, Amber. But then, everyone can dream just like what you said, so keep on dreaming!”

“She’s not dreaming, Melanie. She’s getting married to a rich man…and that man is me.”

Melanie and I were both shocked to see Dale standing from a distance. Then, I immediately ran to him as soon as I noticed the bruises on his face.

“Dale, what’s wrong with you?”

I immediately touched his face, but instead of comforting him, he was the one who comforted me. He hugged me so tight!

“I miss you. I thought I won’t be able to see you again, Amber. I miss you so much,” he whispered.

“Dale, what’s wrong with you?”

“I love you. When I said those words that night, I meant all of it. I really love you,” he went on saying.
