Chapter 9
Vanessa began reading the faces of all the souls present in the room. Her eyes darted around the room.
She glanced at Tracy and swallowed deeply, this girl will give her a tough time if she’s ever-present with them. With her actions and mode of speech to Lilian, she might skin her alive due to her aggressiveness.
Her eyes caught Ben who had been counting on the ceilings all this while, she smiled at him. The young boy will be that type who doesn’t say many words but is ready to take action and go to all extent to get his deals done
And then to Lilian, deep anger enveloped her. She noticed the raw hatred age had developed towards the lady just at her first sight.
Precisely, she has been loving Xavier but has never wanted to fall a victim to being his concubine since she’s so sure of not being the type and class of lady he desires.
But despite all, even though she’s trying her best to stop loving the young man, he noticed jealousy growing in her immediately after she set her eyes on Lilian.
She doesn’t want to see him loving someone else, but turning herself into a whore and behaving like never before because of Xavier is one mistake she doesn’t want to make at all.
She has convinced herself of Xavier turning her into a slut if she ever expresses her feelings toward him, but then losing him to another woman paints her the most.
Her eyes caught that of Chloe. The little beauty that’s driving her insane, the girl who has been the reason she’s opposite the man she desires and never wants.
If only Chloe wouldn’t hate her till eternity, she would give up on the job. But her refusal will cause more harm to the little girl who doesn’t deserve such a thing.
She doesn’t want to take a good look at Xavier just like she did to others. Yes, she doesn’t want to fall victim to a life she hates so much to a man who will be getting married soon.
The inner of her felt normal at this point. She has taken the last decision.
She will gain nothing by exploring them all again, so other than wasting her precious time just like Lilian stated, it’s far better to leave to her compatible house and take a long rest.
She flicked her head aside, and finally, her eyes met that of Xavier. Her heart flipped twice and her heartbeat increased. Goose pimples fell on her skin making her shiver more.
“I’m so sorry if I’m gonna hurt you, Chloe. This is the only thing I can do to save myself the stress and you avoid being messed up… ”
Chloe couldn’t stop staring at her, all she needed at that point was to get what she was about to say.
“I’m not interested in this job again, I need to focus on my business and believe you can make it higher on a certain day. I believe you will feel bad, and I understand. But you don’t need to worry any longer, your siblings are here to care for you, and then your dad will be married soon and you’ll have a stepmother that will take good care of you.” Vanessa stated.
Chloe struggled down from his father’s arms, she couldn’t find it funny this time.
“Ma’am Vanessa please don’t do this to me, no one can ever treat me the way you do. I can’t bear the pain of losing you. You know what, I’m pleading for your forgiveness on their behalf, but please don’t turn down on me.” She pleaded politely.
Vanessa found herself struggling not to let the tears roll down her cheek. She was dumbfounded.
“Dad, you aren’t saying anything?” Chloe referred to her father.
He squatted the holder’s waist. “I’m so ready to employ her as your babysitter, but it’s left for her to determine on going into the work.”
“You didn’t notice she’s changing her mind because of their actions towards her? Would you feel comfortable going into work if you were in her shoes?” Chloe questioned her father.
It was indeed a difficult question to answer, he wasn’t able to say a word again.
“I so much love the decision you just took, and I hope your partner will also recognize the mistake she’s about to make. You don’t and will never belong here, so you ought to leave before you start regretting it.” Tracy remarked.
Lilian glared at her for a while. “Maybe you haven’t seen the ring on my finger, I’m getting married to him soon and will never accommodate you here, Miss Vanessa.”
Ben couldn’t hold his laughter. He kept laughing while everyone stared at him.
“Now tell me what’s common between being a worker and being a wife. Or you think that getting married to my father will give you the guts to choose who will work for us. Don’t be deceived or you’ll regret it, just like she’s giving up, you don’t need to wait for that either.” Ben stated.
Vanessa couldn’t stand it anymore. The ring on her finger declares everything right.
She grabbed her handbag and dashed out of the room instantly. She didn’t mind turning back to know how little Chloe was fairing.
At this point, she’s fed up. She was filled with jealousy but couldn’t tell why she felt that way.
Xavier tried stopping Chloe from running after her, but couldn’t. Chloe left the room in search of Vanessa while he left to get her.
She ran out of the compound in search of Vanessa and sighted her to be some miles away from her.
The voices she raised while calling Vanessa didn’t reach her ears because she was so lost in thought.
Nessa crossed the other side of the road to board a cab that would transport her home, while in a haste to meet the young lady, Chloe diverted too without being cautious.
From afar, Nessa sighted her as a vehicle was driving in her direction. She couldn’t bear seeing the innocent girl being crushed to death because of her.
Her eyes caught Xavier running towards them but a bit far from the point. She twitched towards Chloe and headed to get her off the road.
Just as she stretched her hand and pulled Chloe away from the vehicle heading towards her, her foot skipped its position making her land on the floor with her waist hitting so hard on the ground.
She groaned in pain but tried putting herself together.
Her waist hurt so bad and she felt her body shivering in deep pain. She wasn’t getting herself then.
While she pulled Chloe to her thighs and tried getting up, she noticed her waist bone had dislocated itself and she was unable to get on her feet.
She wasn’t able to scream out because the pains had already tightened her voice. All she could do was groan silently in deep pain. This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.
“Ma’am Vanessa… I… I… ”
She heard Chloe trying to say a word, but it came to a stop. Just she glanced at her face, she noticed her eyes shut so tight and wasn’t making a move.
He lifted to get Xavier almost close to them.
