Chapter 10
Xavier saw himself trembling in fear, he was scared the two must have passed out because he saw the vehicle approaching his daughter.
He arrived at the point where he saw his daughter see her lying lifelessly on Vanessa’s thighs. She wasn’t making a move.
Nessa glanced at him and shook her head, she felt deep pains around her waist. She had protected the little girl and then fell on the floor landing her waist forcefully first.
He noticed the way she groaned when trying to get on her feet. Tears gushed down her cheeks instantly.
Goose pimples fell on his skin, he never knew what was going on. His daughter isn’t saying a word, and the lady can’t get on her feet.
“What exactly is wrong with you? Are you feeling hurt?” He asked her while staring into her eyeballs.
She swallowed deeply, “I can’t stand on my feet, it hurts me so bad when I try to. I’m feeling a dislocation in my waist bone.”
Xavier shook his head, he stared at her daughter again and wiped his face.
“Get on your feet, Chloe. Why isn’t she making a move? She isn’t saying anything?” Xavier screamed out of fear.
Vanessa stretched her lips, he must be joking right? Yes, he must be joking? Chloe can’t just do this to her after taking the risk of saving her from the vehicle.
She glanced at her face just to be sure she wasn’t dreaming. The little girl wasn’t making a move anymore, she wasn’t letting her eyes open talking more or saying a word to them.
A hot ball of tears rushed down from her eyes. She noticed a scorching heat enveloping her at the moment, fear-filled her body as she began quivering.
Her heart beat increased, she glanced at the young man and felt the ground would swallow her up.
Xavier might accuse her of murdering the child. How is she gonna defend herself from a multi-billionaire?
Gosh! She just felt he won’t ever think of doing that or she won’t stand to answer the questions.
“She might have lost consciousness out of fear, we need to hurry to the hospital,” Xavier commented after noticing that she was still breathing.
He got on his foot and immediately called a cab that would take them to a hospital.
Nessa watched him carry Chloe into the car and then helped her up. The pains were damn much, but she had to bear it.
Despite the pain she felt, she loved it seeing Xavier hold her waist while they got into the car. She never wished his arm would get off her waist for any reason.
They all stepped in and shut the door and the driver kicked off to the hospital.
Just as they arrived, the nurses raised alarm as they rushed and took Chloe with them, while Xavier persisted in getting Vanessa into the building himself.Text © by N0ve/lDrama.Org.
They were given a ward where they lay down waiting for the doctor as the nurses began giving them the first treatment needed to live.
His heart kept pounding so hard, that he wished his daughter would let her eyes open at a dime a minute.
The buzzing of his cellphone drew his attention, he dipped his palm inside his pocket to get it out. He glanced at the screen to get that iwasilian.
He took a deep breath through his nostrils. At this point, he doesn’t need to speak with anyone except the doctor. All he wishes is for the quick recovery of his daughter and that of Vanessa.
Several times the phone kept ringing, but he ignored it and left the ward.
Within some minutes, the orthopedic surgeon twitched into the ward with some other nurses. He ordered the nurses to get her into his office and get her laid on the orthopedic bed.
“She will be fine, you just need to believe that and exercise patience.” The doctor assured him before leaving his office.
He sat beside his daughter who was under treatment already, he believed there must be something different now because the rate of breathing is normal.
The doctor dashed into the room to get him about to doze off, he tapped him.
“Mr. Xavier, hope you aren’t thinking about her? She’s gonna be okay.” The doctor assured him.
He nodded while wiping his face.
“Uhmmm! Her immune is entirely down, which can lead to a series of sickness all the time, and then it’s important we build her blood, or she might be feeling dizzy all the time, which can also result in losing consciousness. And you know, it can lead to death too.” The doctor explained further.
He thought of being deaf at the moment. How on earth will her daughter be lacking all these?
“What could lead to improper functioning of the immune system and lack of blood at the same time, and at this age. Doctor, I supply them with enough meals for different diets, so they don’t starve. How would she be suffering from all these while under my care?” Xavier stated worriedly to the doctor.
The doctor got seated on the chair beside the bed. “Mr. Xavier, a lot of things could lead to such a thing. Probably yes, she might be eating the required food needed, but when there is a bacteria in her bloodstream, or rather she doesn’t sleep well at night, it can pull down the immune system as well as bring shortage of blood…”
“You don’t need to panic, okay, the infusion she’s into contains an immune booster and multivitamins. She will be taking blood tests soon and will be fine before leaving.” The doctor stated.
He gasped in relief. “Okay then, I’ll be waiting.”
The doctor left the ward instantly after handling everything the nurse in charge of the little girl.
***********
Xavier was fast asleep beside her daughter when Nessa was brought into the ward. He let his eyes open to see her in tears.
He doesn’t need to be told about the pains she must have passed through in the orthopedic ward. It hurts so much and he knows that.
He grabbed his phone and glanced at the screen to see a lot of calls he had missed from his family. No need of getting back to them since he’ll soon leave to meet them.
After he replied to the messages and emails from his company, he stood and walked toward Nessa who had shut her eyes so tight.
“I’m so sorry you’re passing through all these because of my daughter. Miss Vanessa, please forgive us for everything okay. I know you wouldn’t have been in this condition if you weren’t trying to save her life.” Xavier uttered politely to her hearing.
She bit her lips grabbing the bed cover. “It’s okay Mr. Xavier, I believe I’ll be fine soon, all I wish is for her recovery. Even though I’m so sure she won’t forgive me for leaving the house after she welcomed me warmly.”
Xavier couldn’t believe she was making such a statement, he had expected her to blame him or his daughter.
He gripped his palm comforting her, he persisted that it was all her fault for not getting into the reason for her coming. He believes it’s all his fault for not getting that her visit meant that she’s ready to work for him.
“I’m so sorry, Vanessa.” The sentence almost popped out of his throat.
He took a deep breath while staring at his daughter.
Vanessa couldn’t keep her eyes off him, she wondered what was going on in his mind.
Precisely, she was shocked to hear that he isn’t annoyed that she dashed out of his home that way, and that’s the reason behind all these.
She couldn’t believe the man would be blaming himself than him to give her two options about his daughter’s health.
“What did the doctor say about your daughter’s state of health? Hope it isn’t something bad?” Nessa inquired, showing concern.
He nodded while staring at the little girl who was moving her body for the first time since they arrived at the hospital.
“He recommended that she will be okay, and her immune system needs to be boosted as well as her blood will be builded. And I’m sure that’s the reason she lost consciousness because none of the children has passed through this. Chloe doesn’t sleep well at night, and I don’t know what to do about it.” Xavier explained to her.
She licked her lips constantly. Her eyes counted on the ceiling while she affixed herself in deep thought.
She’s the reason behind Chloe being awake at night. No one needs to tell her this is the reason her immune is down and then she’s lacking blood.
Even after the treatment, the only thing that will make the little girl feel comfortable in her presence in that home is her babysitter. She’s convinced about this.
“You don’t need to be scared, Mr. Xavier. Your daughter will be fine.” She assured him.
He nodded and let go of her palm which she never wanted to happen.
“Ma’am Vanessa… … … “, the tiny voice of Chloe sounded to their hearing.
