CHAPTER 26- WHY ARE YOU PRETENDING
CHAPTER 26- WHY ARE YOU PRETENDING
Ryan stopped on his tracks as her words fell; he stood there watching the girl picking up the paper
planes and retreating to her bed. Sitting on it she took the comic book which was left open and started
reading it, totally disregarding Ryan and his presence. A bad feeling stirred within him as he asked,
"Aren't you sick?" The girl nodded a no and immersed herself deeper into the book.
The man stood goofily on his spot watching her behave stranger than usual, didn't she say she would
be happy if he came back earlier then why was her reaction totally different to the one he had
imagined. Ryan was sure that something was quite not right but how was he supposed to find out. He
asked, "Is something wrong?"
Bee didn't bother to look up at him, she was feeling empty and wanted to send somewhere empty. She
still needed time to repair herself and was not at all willing to have any kind of interaction with him in
the meanwhile. She kept the book aside and fell back on bed, pulling the blanket to her head she said,
"I am sleepy. You should leave."
Anger started to bubble up inside the man but he balled his fist to push down his urge to strangle her.
Just why can't she say what was up with her, he was no mind reader to stop it out all by himself. He
asked, "Are you not happy that I am back?"
His question was like a stone thrown away in ocean with no reaction coming back from the other side;
she was asleep already. The man could feel himself slowly loosing his patience and this was even
visible in his tone which was getting a bit irritated with the passing questions, "Bee, I am telling you...
Don't show your attitude to me."
Bee, "..."
"Are you testing my patience?"
"..."
"What the f*ck is wrong with you?"
Hearing him cursing Bee threw a judging glance him through the blanket. Ryan was at the verge of
exploding at this point, he yelled, "What? What are you looking at?" Bee couldn't help but get her eyes
welled up; she lips started to tremble as she sank deeper into her blanket. Even though she managed
to hide under the blanket her movements were still picked up by Ryan's watchful eyes. Her timid
actions were like a harsh slap which pulled him back to reality. He immediately forgot to be angry and
regretted yelling at her, "I am sorry... I am really sorry! Don't cry..." He tried to calm her down, little did
he know that the girl was not crying because he yelled at her but because of the pain which was welling
up in her heart.
If it was yesterday she would have felt happy seeing that he cared but now, when she knows that he Property © NôvelDrama.Org.
was in love with someone else and was really only treating her nice because she saved his life she felt
awful.
All he felt for her was gratefulness and not affection.
Tears started to pour down violating her eyes, her hushed sobbing made him loose his mind. He sat
down beside her and asked worriedly, "Why are you crying? Tell me who made her cry, I will make
them pay ten folds back."
"Tell me, Bee. What happened?" He tried to make her stop crying but the girl wasn't stopping even for a
bit. At last frustrated he started to pull her blanket which she used to cover her face in attempt to see
her face and satiate her more but the girl wasn't willing to back off. Panicked she tugged on her
blanket, refusing to let him take it.
The more she protested the more angry he got; he tried to calm her down but when she wasn't willing
to even look at him he felt daggers stab inside his chest. The pain was so unbearable that he started to
hate this feeling of suffocation her tears gave him. He had to make it stop before he looses his temper
and harms the reason he was feeling that way.
He pulled the blanket with all his strength, literally ripping it apart to see her little face soaking wet with
her tears. She looked pale and helpless, crying her heart out for no reason at all. He grabbed her
shoulders and picked her up; Bee closed her eyes out of fear and started to push him away.
This little protest of hers was like a match stick ignited in a room full of flammable; he immediately
exploded in wrath. His grip on her shoulders tightened as he started to jerk her vigorously; poor Bee
couldn't help but scream in pain and fear. She had never seen him this angry, not even that night when
he busted her in bathroom.
Ryan was blinded by anger, pouring all his anger on his grip on her he shouted, "Just what is wrong
with you. Stop crying! I said stop crying..."
Bee was choking up on her own tears but he was not at all stopping; she hiccuped and wailed to see
no scope. Her arms started to feel numb within his ghostly grip; unable to contain it anymore she
started to yell, "Let me go... It hurts..."
"Stop crying... " He yelled back at her. Little Bee was unable to take it anymore; she had many things
welled up in her that she wanted to say but had no idea how to voice it out. But all of a sudden she too
felt herself getting angry in the way he was treating her.
She mumbled slowly, "Why are... You pretending?" "What?" Ryan heard her clearly but was not unable
to guess what she was trying to mean by that. He stopped jerking her like a lifeless doll and looked into
her eyes only to see her turn away her eyes off him. She continued controlling her tears, "You... You
don't care about me! You treat me good... Because I saved your life. You have no feelings for me. You
are just putting on an act."
Ryan looked at her for a brief moment before pulling her closer to him, with his face few inches away
he asked grimly, "What do you mean?" Bee snorted and hiccuped before calming herself down, "You
can never love me... I can never be her, right!" Ryan's face turned visibly pale when he heard his own
words from her mouth; he looked at her blankly not letting her guess his thoughts or emotions. Bee
didn't care what he was thinking and proceeded with her words, "If you can't feel anything for me then
why are you trying to shove yourself in my life. Go... Go back to your Cathey. You have her then why
are you pretending to be considerate of me?"
Ryan's face turned as pale as a ghost when he heard her words and particularly at the mention of that
person. He mumbled mindlessly, telling himself that his ears were deceiving him, "What... Did you
say?"
