Chapter 243
Chapter 243
It was Betty’s message. She said that Johnny had left the police station and gone to her place.
“His liquor distillery was sealed for some unknown reason. The girl from the orphanage suddenly changed her statement and claimed she didn’t do those things voluntarily. Johnny seemed crazy and ready to attack anyone at any time, so I drove him away.”
“Mikayla, although I warned him not to act recklessly, he has nothing to lose now, so you must be careful of him. It’s best to ask Mr. Miller to accompany you if you go out
Betty assumed Mikayla and Jerome’s relationship had improved because Jerome had driven away those two men and sent Johnny to the police.
Mikayla didn’t correct Betty. She only reassured Betty that she was out of town and wouldn’t meet Johnny
“Then I’m relieved. The police are now investigating and collecting evidence. If that orphan girl tells the truth, Johnny will return to detention in a few days. He’d get sentenced to at least two years”
The next day, Mikayla accompanied Eduard to the hospital to visit his old friend, Todd Young.
She’d met Todd before. He had visited the Davidson residence several times. She was familiar with him.
It had only been a few years since she last saw him. Todd, who had previously been healthy, was now so sick that he could only lie in bed in pain. His hair had turned gray, and he had become skinny.
Mikayla felt heartbroken as she imagined Eduard lying on the hospital bed in her previous life. She couldn’t help but shed tears.
“I know you’re happy to see Todd, but you don’t have to cry,” Eduard joked, unaware of the truth.
When she realized Todd was looking at her, she wiped away her tears embarrassedly. “Mr. Young Senior,
how do you feel now?”
He was in good spirits and joked, “I feel much better after seeing you two.”
She said, “I hope you get well soon. We’ll visit you often. We’ll come over these days.”
“That’s great!” Todd nodded happily and then sighed. “Time flies so fast. The last time we met, Kay was
still in college. Now, she’s married.”
“Yes.” Eduard nodded in agreement and asked, “How about your grandson? Has he found a girlfriend?”
Todd seemed to have a headache when Eduard mentioned his grandson. “Carl has been going abroad to
run a new company with his friends since last year. He’s focused on work and has no time to find a girlfriend.
“But after knowing that I was sick, he came back to stay with me for more than a month. He went there two days earlier to hand over his work. He’ll stay here with me from now on.”
“Carl is a good kid,” Eduard praised.
Todd’s son had passed away in an accident. He only had a grandson, whom Mikayla had met before. But it had been so long that she couldn’t recall how Carl looked. This text is property of Nô/velD/rama.Org.
As Eduard and Todd hadn’t met for a long time, they chatted enthusiastically. Seeing that, she made an excuse to leave the ward, leaving them some privacy.
After strolling for a while, she received a call from Taylor.
“The target has taken the bait. Kylie is negotiating the project with my people. I believe we’ll sign the
contract with her soon.”
Mikayla smiled. “That’s great. There won’t be any flaws, right?”
“Probably not.”
“Why don’t you sound confident?” Mikayla wondered.
Taylor replied nonchalantly, “Because it depends on your response.”
“What response?”
She suddenly thought of something and warned him, “I won’t help you drive away women anymore”
“Do you think that’s what I’m talking about?”
“Then what are you talking about?”
“Get me some top–secret information from Jerome’s computer,” Taylor said seriously.
“Mr. Blue, stealing is against the law. I’m a model citizen.”
“It’s ‘stealing if others do so. As his wife, you’re just ‘getting the
information from him.” Mikayla was speechless when she heard that.
