Back in Time: Unshackling From Love (Mikayla Davidson)

Chapter 128

Chapter 128

“Mr. Miller, Ms. White suddenly fainted. Could you come over now?”

Jerome frowned. “Alright.” Amidst the silence, he set his phone aside and glanced at Mikayla. Putting down his clothes, he strode out of the bedroom swiftly.

Mikayla was close enough to hear what the nurse said over the phone, so she knew where he was headed. Eduard told her to give herself another chance because Jerome began to care for her-

She didn’t see the need to get back together with a man who could be summoned with another

woman’s call.

Covering her bruised elbow, Kylie said guiltily, “Jerome, so sorry for making you come over this late. I wanted to walk around for a bit, but I suddenly blacked out and fell. I only fainted for a while,

but the nurse was making a huge fuss over it.”

Jerome’s eyebrows drew together as he asked, “Don’t you have a nurse here? Why do you have to

move around?”

“I want to get discharged quickly to help retrieve the project with Ansoft.”

“Don’t fret. It’s not like Bernhal Enterprise will fall apart without Ansoft.”

“I won’t if someone else invested in it, but Taylor’s clearly doing it to spite you. I don’t want him to succeed,” Kylie replied persistently.

“I heard you even had a meeting with your staff here this afternoon,” Jerome said. “Let your staff

handle the company for the time being so you can get enough rest. Mr. White isn’t around now, and he called me the past two days to ask me to take care of you. If he finds out that you’re overworking yourself, he’ll be back in no time.”

A warm smile spread across Kylie’s face at the mention of Carter. “Dad’s just fussy. Thank you, Jerome. I won’t make you guys worry.”

Jerome glanced at his watch. “If there’s nothing else, I’ll get going.”

“Jerome, wait!” Kylie took out a box from the drawer on the bedside table. “This is a pair of earrings I picked for Mikayla/I figured she must’ve been upset lately because of me. Give this to her.”

There was a pair of small/delicate earrings shaped like orchids in the burgundy velvet box. Simple yet exquisite, they glimmered under the light.

“Every woman loves presents. I know you’re too busy to pay attention to these details, so I picked them and have them delivered here,” Kylie added.

“How much? I’ll transfer the amount to you.‘

“Don’t worry

about it, Jerome. You secured such a huge deal for my dad last time, and you even gave him a present on his birthday. I haven’t had the chance to thank you, so just take it as a token

of my appreciation.”

Indeed, Jerome had never given any presents except his card to Mikayla. She used to be mad at him over this. He set the earrings aside and said, “They’re two different things. The deal is your compensation, and the gift was an act of courtesy.”

“Jerome, do you really have to be this rigid?” Kylie exclaimed angrily. “I just wanted to give Mikayla a gift! Why are you transferring money to me instead? I wouldn’t have asked you if it weren’t for the misunderstanding between me and her!”

Recalling the self–deprecating look on Mikayla’s face before he left, he finally accepted the pair of

earrings.

“Mr. White liked the caviar I gave him last time, didn’t he? I’ll send him some more after this.”

“Jerome, you-

“You should sleep soon. I’ll get going.” Jerome rose and left her ward.
